With a sharp snap of his fingers, Black signaled his partner. A Honchkrow dived from the moonlit sky, shrouded in a black, ominous aura as it unleashed a lethal Brave Bird.
"Alolan Ninetales, Moonblast!" "Togekiss, Misty Terrain!"
A pristine, silvery moon manifested from Ninetales' tails, rising slowly to et the attacker. The Honchkrow plunged into the lunar light, letting out a shrill shriek as silvery flas began to eat away at its Dark-type energy. Simultaneously, Togekiss flapped its wings, releasing clouds of pink mist that carpeted the slope. The Misty Terrain imdiately made Black's Dark-types visibly agitated and uncomfortable.
"Hmph, cheap tricks. Absol, use Slash!"
Absol leaped high, its sickle-like horn glowing with white light. It struck the ground with imnse force, sending three shockwaves of energy tearing toward Sirfetch'd, Ninetales, and Togekiss.
Sirfetch'd stood firm, raising its leek shield. The impact shattered into harmless sparks against the sturdy vegetable. Ninetales pirouetted elegantly, her nine tails swaying as she dodged and lashed out with icy tendrils. Togekiss, utilizing its Serene Grace ability, gathered crescent-shaped blades of air. With a powerful beat of its wings, a storm of Air Slashes rained down on Black and his team.
"Curse it!" Black crossed his arms to shield his face. The wind blades acted like invisible kamaitachi, leaving dozens of small nicks on his suit.
This Togekiss isn't a Heavenly King yet, but with Serene Grace, its Air Slash flinch-rate and power rival a top-tier pro, Black noted. "But I was handpicked by President Damalanchi for a reason."
A surge of thick, black miasma erupted from Black's body. As the gas touched him and his Pokémon, their wounds closed instantly. "I possess the Power of Darkness—the ultimate nurturing force for Dark-types. Today, you'll learn why they call the Night King."
Black's eyes turned a predatory chartreuse, reflecting a newfound ferocity.
Yellow Rock Island: The Psychic Duel
On Yellow Rock Island, Sabrina walked through the air as if on invisible stairs, heading toward the Earth Pillar. The ground below was littered with the unconscious bodies of League grunts. She wore her Rocket combat gear and a weeping-smile mask, her black hair flowing behind her like a waterfall.
"I've been waiting, Rocket Executive," a voice called out. White floated up from the base of the pillar, a Gardevoir by her side.
"They say Team Rocket has two world-class psychics. I assu you're the woman. Not that it matters—I don't care to rember the nas of those I defeat. Capturing you will finally earn the President's true favor."
White's silver hair shimred, and her crimson eyes glowed with malice. She gestured to the thousands of Duosion hovering nearby, which began funneling their collective psychic energy into her. White's hair stood on end as she tapped a ga Stone earring.
"Gardevoir, Empress of the Mind! Respond to my heart! ga Evolve!"
A brilliant cocoon of light enveloped the Pokémon. When it shattered, ga Gardevoir appeared, its white gown transford into a magnificent ballgown.
"Psychic!"
A multi-colored beam of ntal energy tore through the night sky. Sabrina vanished in a Teleport just before impact.
"Impossible!" White gasped. "My Gardevoir locked the surrounding space! How did you teleport out?"
"Is it really that hard?" Sabrina sneered, reappearing behind her. "Any top-tier psychic can break a local lock. Old Alakazam, your turn."
She released her Alakazam, who was already in its ga form without the need for a stone or ring. It floated cross-legged, five golden spoons hovering before it.
"A ga Alakazam... without a Keystone?" White's eyes danced with a manic, obsessive light. "Incredible. I want to dissect you and find out what kind of unique psychic organs you possess!"
"Gardevoir, Zen Headbutt! Capture that Alakazam!"
Blue Rock Island: The Shadow's Ambush
Lt. Surge hadn't even reached Blue Rock Island when several League gunships intercepted his stealth jet.
"The problem with stealth jets is they can't hide their silhouette against the moon," Surge grunted.
Arbok Missiles streaked toward him. Surge slamd the thrusters, breaking the sound barrier in a deafening crack. The missiles exploded behind him, the shockwave rocking the gunships.
"Pests!" Surge flipped a switch, and twin laser turrets rose from the jet's wings. He perford a 180-degree barrel roll and opened fire. The lasers carved through the gunships' rotors, sending them spiraling into the ocean in plus of white spray.
With the air clear, Surge landed near the Gale Pillar. To his surprise, the area was deserted.
"This slls like a trap," he muttered, stepping toward the control console.
Suddenly, Surge found he couldn't move a muscle. His body felt heavy, anchored to the earth by an invisible weight.
"Ahahaha! Rocket Executive, good evening. How do you like the welco mat I laid out for you?"
A dark figure detached itself from Surge's own shadow. It was Shadow, the fourth League Specialist.
"Oh, I forgot. You're under my Shadow Bind. You can't even scream. What a pathetic little bug." Shadow sneered, looking at the masked Surge with utter contempt.
