"The mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind," Lin Feng mused inwardly, a wry smile forming on his lips. "And it seems I am the cicada this ti."

Though slightly annoyed, he did not resist what was to co. So things could not be avoided, and forcing them would only create more complications.

With a calm heart, he accepted the flow of the coming days. After all, not every day could go exactly as he wished.

Lin Feng had lunch with his won before returning to the courtyard together. The atmosphere was calm and comfortable, a stark contrast to the chaos from earlier that morning.

By the ti they arrived, most of the people who had been camping outside had already dispersed, their earlier enthusiasm fading under the weight of ti and unt expectations.

Only a few dozen diehard individuals remained, still kneeling stubbornly outside the gates.

Their faces were filled with determination, so pale from hunger, others with eyes slightly bloodshot from lack of rest.

Yet they refused to leave, clinging to the faint hope that Lin Feng might grant them even a mont of attention or fortuitous encounter.

Lin Feng rely glanced at them once before looking away.

He gave them no thought afterward. In his experience, persistence without understanding was aningless. These people were driven more by blind worship than true desire to improve.

Give them a few more days, and their resolve would crumble on its own. As they stepped into the courtyard, a familiar sight greeted them.

The little chicken lay near the doorway, sleeping soundly, completely undisturbed by the outside world. Its tiny body rose and fell rhythmically, and it looked so peaceful that no one had the heart to disturb it.

But the mont Lin Feng’s presence entered the courtyard, its eyes snapped open as if it had been waiting all along.

"Cluck!" With a soft but excited chirp, it leapt into the air, flapping its small wings as it shot straight toward Lin Feng.

In the next instant, it landed perfectly on his left shoulder, nuzzling against him affectionately.

Lin Feng smiled faintly and raised a hand to pat its head. The little creature imdiately closed its eyes in contentnt, as if enjoying the attention far more than anything else in the world.

After settling down, Lin Feng turned his gaze toward Yun Wanqing. There was still so ti before his unexpected guest would arrive, and letting the mont pass idly would be a waste.

"Since we have ti, I will teach you sothing interesting," Lin Feng said calmly. Yun Wanqing blinked in curiosity, her interest imdiately piqued.

Lin Feng then introduced her to poker and chess. He explained the rules step by step, his tone patient and unhurried. At first, Yun Wanqing struggled to grasp the concepts.

The strategies, the obvious mind gas, and the unpredictable nature of poker were all new to her.

But she was intelligent.

With each explanation, her understanding deepened. Confusion gradually gave way to realization, and soon, a spark of excitent lit up her eyes.

The others gathered around as well, watching with interest. What began as a simple lesson quickly turned into sothing much more lively.

"Wait, that move was unfair!"

"You just weren’t paying attention."

"Young master Lin Feng, can I try next? I want to win against you this ti!"

Before long, everyone was involved. Even those who initially only watched could not resist joining in. The courtyard, once quiet, was soon filled with laughter, playful argunts, and the occasional groan of defeat.

Even the little chicken occasionally chirped loudly, hopping between shoulders as if it wanted to participate.

Ti flowed by unnoticed in such an atmosphere.

anwhile, far beyond Clear Moon City, a figure was cutting through the skies at incredible speed.

Under normal circumstances, traveling from the Nine Peaks Sword Sect to this location would take several days even with a flying boat. But this man had chosen a different thod.

Standing atop a flying sword, he pushed his speed to the absolute limit, his robes fluttering violently in the wind as his figure streaked across the horizon like a shooting star.

At this pace, he would arrive in less than a day.

Lin Feng, who had already calculated the flow of events earlier, was naturally aware of this.

"It seems soone is quite eager," he mused inwardly, his lips curling into a faint smile.

This person was undoubtedly coming for Tang Aining and Yun Wanqing. Few would go to such lengths otherwise. The urgency alone spoke volus.

Still, Lin Feng remained completely unconcerned.

He neither prepared nor made any special arrangents. Whoever it was, whatever their intentions might be, it did not matter much to him.

Instead, he focused on the present mont.

He guided Yun Wanqing through another round of chess, occasionally offering good advice while allowing her to make her own decisions.

At the sa ti, he joined the others in poker, his presence effortlessly controlling the flow of the ga.

Under his influence, the courtyard beca a place of joy and ease, completely detached from the tensions of the outside world.

The sun slowly began its descent, casting a warm golden glow over the courtyard. Shadows stretched longer, and the air carried a gentle calmness that made the mont feel even more serene.

As the last light of the sun began to disappear beyond the horizon, a terrifying spiritual pressure suddenly descended upon the area.

"What’s that?!"

"What’s happening?!"

"Run! Everyone run! Soone’s going to kill us all!"

Panic spread instantly.

The weak mortal residents of the city plunged into chaos, stumbling over one another in blind panic as their earlier determination and persistence crumbled completely under the weight of fear.

Faces turned pale, hearts pounded wildly, and many fled without even daring to look back.

Then they saw it.

A figure streaking across the sky like a falling star.

A man stood atop a flying sword, his robes whipping violently in the wind as he shot forward at full speed, heading straight toward the Spirit Spring Academy.

His presence was overwhelming, his aura sharp and oppressive like an unsheathed blade, pressing down on everyone below.

The very air seed to tremble as he approached.

In just a few breaths, the distance between him and the academy shrank rapidly, his killing intent not concealed in the slightest.
