Chapter 758: Chapter 592: The Ultimate Trial – Flowing Gold River_2

“I’m not the perfect venting target for you? Just let all your negative emotions explode in front of your enemy and show the ugly state of being tortured by fate, how pathetic, how ugly, how desperate, how… pitiable.”

And what she hated the most was the appearance of accepting the truth about fate with equanimity and continuing to love life.

“You really are a disgusting person,” she said.

“Likewise,” he replied.

Continuing the fight was aningless; they decided to begin the final trial. As long as they determined the superior combatant in the trial, life and death would naturally be sorted.

A pure white path led deep into the palace, and surprisingly, there was water about ankle-deep all along the way. It wasn’t due to the palace being in disrepair and water seeping up from underground rivers—as could be told from the non-slip flooring, the water was intentionally part of the palace’s architecture.

They turned around for a look. The Cicada Transformation Chamber was right at the starting point of the pure white path; behind them was a wall blocking the way, with a large cicada pattern engraved into it. Having co this far, even though they hadn’t seen any docunts up till now, they could roughly guess from the na of the hall that this trial might have sothing to do with the Fangyuan Cicada Great Skill from the Fire Cat Era.

Ash and Weiser walked side by side onto the stone slab path. Interestingly, these two people who fought each other every ti they t were now able to move forward together calmly. Not because they were about to reconcile, but because they knew they were approaching the end.

The terrain of the palace sank deeper the further in they went. The starting point was actually the highest ground, and the water flowed down from there. And at intervals, there would be four white supporting pillars.

Weiser didn’t pay much attention to this, but Ash felt it seed familiar: white paths, white pillars, golden dos. This combination felt like sothing he had seen sowhere…

Before long, they saw sothing unusual—statue stands appeared on both sides of the corridor!

It was a statue placed on a pedestal; the statue’s appearance wasn’t worth describing, but its clothes quickly attracted the attention of Ash and Weiser: they were exactly the sa as the combat attire they were wearing now!

These were statues of past trialists!

Their first reaction was, had the previous trialists been petrified? Was this Divine Fire Trial a scam to swindle people out of their money?

But there was a naplate under the pedestal for this trialist: “Brando Fogwhisper, Legendary Mage, majoring in the Weak Faction.”

Seeing this, the two of them felt slightly puzzled: it was normal for trialists to be tricked, but could even Legendary Mages be fooled?

At this mont, Weiser’s strength finally had a chance to be utilized—in the face of sothing that might be a living being, she didn’t hesitate to slap it without caring what was inside.

However, the statue was unhard in the face of Weiser’s attack; instead, ripples appeared on the water’s surface of the stone slab. Both of them realized that this was a miracle of kinetic energy transfer. Any attack on the statue would be distributed to the ground.

Even though their combat power at that mont could easily defeat a Two-winged Mage, the thought of shattering the earth with their bare hands was beyond them; not even Ya Sha Jin could do it… might not be able to do it.

They continued forward, finding that both sides of the corridor were filled with statues, and all the statues belonged to Legendary Mages—there was not a single holy domain! Even Weiser didn’t think the statues contained real people—dozens of Legendary Mages tricked all at once into becoming petrified statues? Do Legendary Mages not have miracles like Prophecy, Truth, and Fate? They can’t resist danger, let alone foresee it?

But this Divine Fire Trial was supposedly conducted in groups of sixteen; each ti at least fourteen people would be consud. Could it be that in the Gray Fox Era, holy domains were as common as dogs and Legends road everywhere, so much so that Legends could be used as consumables?

However, Weiser quickly realized the flaw in her thinking: the victors being Legendary didn’t an the other trialists were also Legendary. It was very likely that there were 15 ordinary people 1 Legendary, with the ordinary people being used to help the Legendary Mage complete the trial ritual.

So, these statues were probably sothing like a hall of honor, just decorative… right?

Ash thought of a possibility, “They’re not going to suddenly co to life and turn us into statues too, are they?”

“That’s impossible,” Weiser said calmly. “Ti is the strongest poison. People can forget things while sleeping; these statues have been here for at least two hundred years. If a person really slept for over two hundred years before waking up, they would probably completely forget who they are, and might even have to start learning how to crawl again…”

They both shut up. Ash reflected on why he opened his mouth, and Weiser reflected on why she responded.

After a ten-minute walk, they finally arrived at the end of the palace corridor.

It was a pedestal with torches, the torches burning with seven-colored Divine Fire, flickering between blazing white, deep blue, and pale purple. The mont they saw the torches, their senses started to anticipate wildly. In the overlapped future of countless decisions, they saw the sa scene: they touched the Divine Fire, and then flas of different colors rose on their bodies, resonating with the Void Realm, and completely transforming into Divine Fire Seeds!

They didn’t just ‘see’ it— in the instant they anticipated the future, the Divine Fire had already started to burn on them.

Ash and Weiser’s faces dramatically changed as they imdiately realized what bizarre design this was—how ridiculous, the Divine Fire didn’t need contact at all. As long as they ‘touched’ it in their sensory anticipation, the Divine Fire would follow their perception and burn directly towards them!
