Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again! Chapter 579: Let Him Call Someone Else Dad

Shane opened his eyes and looked at her. After a few seconds of eye contact, Shane, reminded by her, seed to feel a bit hungry himself.

He hadn’t eaten enough the whole day outside.

Seeing Audrey Sutton’s bright eyes wide awake, Shane chose a late-night snack over sleep. He sat up and asked her, "What do you want to eat?"

Audrey squinted and smiled, imdiately saying, "Barbecue."

Without thinking, Shane refused, "No way."

Audrey thought for a mont and said, "Then let’s have noodles. I’ll cook."

Saying that, she climbed out of the quilt, walking toward the fridge, saying, "Even Mr. Warner is starting to indulge himself."

Shane picked up the water cup from the coffee table and followed her, saying, "Didn’t you say a life without late-night snacks is incomplete?"

While preparing the ingredients, Audrey said, "Exactly, life’s about happiness. If you want to eat, just eat, at worst you can run a bit more tomorrow."

Shane poured a cup of plain water from the kettle, "I can run a bit more, but I’m afraid so people just gain and don’t lose."

Audrey pouted, "My mom said, during pregnancy, you can’t starve yourself for fear of gaining weight. You have to eat when you’re hungry so the baby will be healthy. I’ve already made plans with Sister Phoebe, after the baby’s born, we’ll get gym mberships."

Finally, Audrey glanced at Shane worriedly, "Do I really look obviously fatter now?"

Shane shook his head, "Pretty adorable."

Audrey felt that "adorable" wasn’t quite a complint here. While washing vegetables, she murmured, "I weigh nearly ten pounds more than before."

Shane: "With another person in your belly, isn’t gaining ten pounds normal?"

Audrey frowned, "But the baby’s only three months old, how could it weigh ten pounds?"

Shane: "Who was just saying not to worry about gaining weight and to eat if you want?"

Audrey murmured, "True, but if I get too fat, what if you find repulsive and get lured away by those little temptresses outside?"

Shane smiled and pinched her cheek, "Your head is filled with nonsense."

Audrey put the washed vegetables in a basket, then started boiling noodles, asking him, "Aren’t you worried at all that I might be lured away by another man?"

Shane put down the water cup, examining her, "Are you hinting at sothing?"

Audrey: "No, it just feels like I’m always worried you’ll leave , but you don’t seem worried at all that I’d leave you."

Shane walked over to her, asking, "Why always think of leaving? Why not think about us being together peacefully for life?"

Audrey: "Who doesn’t want that? But life is long, full of changes, and there’s that seven-year itch. What if you et a soulmate, beco obsessed, and abandon and the kid?"

Shane couldn’t help but smile listening to her, walked over and hugged her from behind, wondering, "What on earth is in that little head of yours?"

Audrey put the noodles in the pot, asking him, "How much do you want?"

Shane: "You decide."

Audrey grabbed a handful to show him, "Is this enough?"

Shane nodded, still holding her tightly.

After tossing the noodles in the pot, Audrey continued, "I don’t care, anyway if you cheat, I’ll divorce you, and you can’t fight for custody. Then I’ll remarry with your child, have him call soone else dad, and make you regret it!"

Shane was amused and speechless, saying, "Here you are making noodles for while thinking of divorcing . Can’t you think of sothing positive?"

Audrey: "I’m just saying, just in case. If you face temptation and can’t resist, just think about your son calling soone else dad."

Shane gently slapped her backside, saying, "I think you’re just asking for trouble. Who else could tempt but you?"

Audrey glared at him, pushed him away, fearing he might act up later, and stepped back to create distance, "Go sit over there, you’re in the way!"

But Shane approached again, behaving and quietly holding her.

Watching the water boil, the noodles tumbling in the pot.

Audrey stirred the noodles with chopsticks, turned her head to Shane, resting his head on her shoulder, and asked, "Want a poached egg?"

Shane nodded.

Audrey pursed her lips, dragged him to the fridge, and took out two eggs.

She realized he had changed slowly over ti.

He used to always seem so strong and untouchable, but recently Audrey discovered that he seed to show vulnerability in front of her, sotis seeking warmth like a child.

After all, when there’s a safe harbor, who would want to withstand the wind and rain outside?

She cooked a simple large bowl of vegetable egg noodles for him, and he finished it all.

Whether he was really hungry or just appeasing Audrey, she felt happy seeing him eat everything.

While he went upstairs to shower, Audrey cleaned up the kitchen.

By the ti they went upstairs to bed, it was already past one.

Audrey chatted whimsically for a while, and Shane didn’t really respond. She soon tired herself out and fell asleep, and Shane adjusted her blanket to ensure she was well-covered before sleeping peacefully.

The rainy night dragged on.

In the riverside apartnt, faint moonlight shone through the window into the room, vaguely revealing a girl sleeping on her side in bed, defenselessly deep asleep.

The living room clock’s hour hand pointed to "3".

"Click—"

With the sound of a key turning, the door opened.

In the darkness, a shadowy figure entered the room.

Without pausing in the entryway or turning on any lights, the figure groped along the wall, stumbling to a bedroom door on the first floor.

Without knocking or lowering the volu, they boldly pushed the door open.

Under cover of rain, it didn’t disturb the girl sleeping soundly in bed.

The shadow walked straight to the bed, stood for a mont, then sat down and tightly embraced the girl through the duvet.

It was only then that Vanessa Sterling awoke suddenly, tense and motionless, only slling a strong odor of alcohol.

After a few seconds of stillness, Vanessa slowly turned to look at Miles Sterling behind her.

His eyes were closed, and after lying down, he made no further movents.

Realizing he was probably drunk, Vanessa’s initial panic slowly subsided. She moved slightly, trying to slide out from the duvet, but seed to disturb him. She heard him mumble sothing incoherently and then felt his arm tighten a bit around her.
