The effects of my spell wore off after a few minutes, and I could tell exactly when it wore off of the Demon Wolf thanks to how quickly she spun around to stare at , her eye narrowed as she just remained completely still, not moving a muscle.
The pressure that she exuded with just a stare was enough to root in place, and that sa kind of fear that I felt when facing the monster returned as I realized I was staring at soone truly terrifying, soone who could easily kill if they so pleased.
That was a horrifying thought to have, especially in a place like this where there were no other people to co to my aid, but I also realized I was being rather dramatic since there was no way she would end up killing here, so I had little to fear.
"Never do that to again, Katherine."
Her voice was flat, while the use of my actual na instead of so kind of nickna or other way of identifying felt eerily similar to how a parent would scold their child, or more accurately how a respected elder reprimands their junior.
"Believe it or not my control is rather high, and there was no real threat to you in that situation."
She was about to continue on only to stop as I cut her off by shaking my head and saying "No, I will not ever promise to not do that again. I don't know you like that, I don't know your limits, I don't even care to know them. What I do know is that if you ever approach like that again, radiating lust and staring at like so piece of at ant for you to eat, I will do what I have to do in order to stay safe."
Lady Fenyras pursed her lips and stared at for a few seconds more before grunting and shrugging her shoulders, turning around and resuming the walk as she left it at that, though it would seem that the random walking around bored her since she began to strike up conversation whenever she felt like it.
"Part of admires how bold and forwards you can be, little pup, but equal parts of finds it irritating that you act the way you do. No respect, no care, always ordering around..."
"You earn respect, my care is there but you end up pissing off with how you refuse to act in a manner that is both logical and sound. I give the orders to keep you in a specific direction but you still decide to do turns and random maneuvers whenever and however you please."
If she was expecting to challenge her on this right away I didn't know, but what I was aware of was the fact that she seed far more alert now then she had a mont ago, like having soone to bicker with enhanced her senses or sothing.
"Do you ever think that I do those things because I know better than you do? Or that you get trapped in this horrible slog of thinking over dozens of possibilities while ignoring the fact that they usually end up in a handful of simpler categories?"
And honestly I was far happier to debate this with her than I was to just walk and stare at this bluish grass, so I had no issue at all responding to her as we continued to follow our noses and head for areas of high monster and animal concentration.
"If you do - in fact - know better than , why do you never communicate it to to ensure we can work together? And if you can categorize them into simpler outcos, why does that matter if the main focus is how you get to that outco? You aren't really as tactically sound as you think you are. Brute force and running head into things is a recipe for disaster."
"It is only a recipe for disaster if you are weak and scared. I am neither weak nor scared; I am strong and confident that I can beat my enemies without fancy tactics or elaborate scheming. Perhaps if you realized that there is equal importance in training that muscle between your ears and the rest of your soft body you'd be stronger than you currently are."
I raised a brow and picked up the pace a little as I walked beside her, ensuring I was on the side with her eye so that she could see as I said "I will have you know that I am rather strong, and that is thanks to my incredibly balanced approach at life. I am as much a tactician as I am a killer."
"Sure, keep telling yourself that. Stabbing sothing a few more tis than needed isn't enough to make you a killer, and thinking about how to get to the stabbing doesn't make you a tactician. You're just a sowhat smart, kinda scrappy brat with sharp knives."
"And does a scrappy brat with sharp knives not have the ability to kill a lot of things very quickly? I believe that training we had all those months ago proved that, no?"
"You an the ti where you negated all of your concept of pain, made liberal use of magic and whittled down knowing that I was handicapping myself? Nice win."
Even though she tried to downplay it I couldn't help but grin at her as I pointed out "You said it was a win, not ~!", making her grunt in annoyance before she fell silent, like so sulking child.
"So if I did win against the mighty Demon Wolf, perhaps she should begin to listen to ~?"
Another grunt was followed by a deathly stare that just made grin even more, and it was that grin that made her snarl "Don't get too full of yourself, big chested brat. You got the looks and the brains, sure, but that tongue certainly has better uses...", bringing the conversation around to sothing that I really wanted to keep avoiding.
I added a step between us at that, and she just clicked her tongue and shrugged as we kept moving, the conversation dwindling a little before it was ignited once more when we passed by a rather large herd of so kind of bison, the Demon Wolf wanting to eat again while also insisting that these particular bison held the key to the trial.
Her argunt relied heavily on her prior judgent being 'correct' in leading us to sothing important, so therefore these bison were - in fact - the next piece of this puzzle that we were going to solve, and she refused to take no for an answer.
