Hearing Irene shout like that, the man who had been focusing all his attention on her turned his head to look at Sophie Smith.
Sophie felt a twinge of anxiety in her heart, but she still pushed through all her fears and walked straight towards them.
Even though she hated Irene, it didn’t an she would watch her die without helping, letting her be ravaged by a group of n.
"Let her go," her voice was clear and strong, and the n’s movents eased a bit.
They weren’t blind; standing before them was a woman they could naturally recognize.
"Miss Smith, are you sure you want to ddle in this trivial matter?" The n exchanged glances, wanting to release Irene, but they were still a bit unwilling.
"She’s my sister, you think this is a trivial matter?"
Sophie could tell from the n’s tone that they must have known her identity. Since her identity could make them hesitate, she had to administer the right dicine for the situation.
"Irene is close to , my husband..." Sophie paused, feeling awkward just ntioning ’my husband,’ but there was no choice. Despite the awkwardness, she had to bite the bullet and speak up, "My husband cares for Irene too. Treating her this way, I think he would be very angry."
The n suddenly released Irene’s hand, glaring at Sophie with resentnt before turning around to walk into the room, slamming the door behind them.
Sophie breathed a long sigh of relief from the bottom of her heart.
"Thank you..." Irene’s voice whispered in her ear. She didn’t say much, just helped her up from crouching in the corner.
Irene staggered towards the exit of the club, Sophie thought for a mont, returned to her room, spoke a few words to Sunny, grabbed her coat, and quickly walked out again.
Irene hadn’t walked very far, Sophie found her at a taxi stand.
She was only wearing a thin dress, arms wrapped around herself, shivering from the cold wind.
Sophie took off her coat and walked over.
"Put this on for now, it’s so late, it’s hard to find a taxi. How about I take you ho?"
"No, thank you." she refused coldly.
She didn’t agree, and Sophie didn’t say much either. She just stood beside her, hands in her coat pockets, eyes fixed on her toes.
As ti went by, the temperature dropped lower and lower. Irene gradually couldn’t withstand the cold night, eventually crouching on the ground, occasionally a full taxi passing by.
After about thirty minutes, Irene finally couldn’t bear it anymore. She stood up, her nose red and her lips pale.
"Can you take ho, please."
"If you had said so earlier, you wouldn’t have suffered so much, right?" Sophie glanced at Irene, shook her head helplessly, "Wait here for , I’ll go get the car."
Sophie practically ran all the way to the parking lot, quickly driving the car to Irene’s side. Irene was frozen stiff, even her hand struggled to open the car door.
Sophie leaned over, opened the door on Irene’s side, and she got in. The heater was on full blast inside, making her feel comfortable imdiately.
Irene gave her address, and Sophie, upon hearing it, turned her head in surprise towards Irene’s side.
