"How could you do nothing, Brother Asher? Are you just brushing off?"
Although she knew he was only accompanying her out of respect for Sophie Smith, she couldn’t help but feel a little bothered by Asher Land’s cold attitude. Since he was already out with her, couldn’t he at least pretend to enjoy it?
"I’m telling the truth; believe it or not." He had an indifferent look.
"You’ve been with her for so many years, don’t you ever date? A normal couple should do sothing, right?"
"Should we do AI instead?"
"..." Irene Morton was speechless and couldn’t think of a response for a mont.
In the past, she was shaless in front of him, always pestering him relentlessly. She had never been shy about flirting with him and even stood before him naked quite a few tis. Back then, she didn’t feel embarrassed. So, why did his casual retort today make her blush and her heart race? Could it be that her skin has gotten thinner recently?
Asher Land was quite bewildered too. A faint blush appeared on Irene’s face. He had just casually said that, and yet she felt embarrassed?
"Ahem..." He lightly coughed a few tis, "Just pretend I didn’t say anything; I was joking."
"Then... I’m your girlfriend now. Do you want to do what you usually do with Sister Sophie?" Irene forced out this awkward sentence, tilting her head to observe the changes in his facial expression at any mont.
Sure enough, after hearing her words, his face imdiately darkened.
"I’m just joking, haha." Irene’s hearty laugh ca forth, instantly giving Asher Land a feeling of being tricked.
However, he hadn’t heard Irene laugh so openly like that in a long ti.
"Brother Asher, I’ve said it before, I won’t go against Sister Sophie or play any tricks. Don’t worry." Irene spoke sincerely, so earnest that even Asher Land couldn’t help but almost believe her.
"That’s good, if you know to behave." Asher Land suddenly shed his icy tone, and his voice turned gentle.
Irene was montarily dazed, as if she had returned to the days before Sophie Smith appeared.
Previously, she didn’t like when Asher spoke to her in a child-like tone, but later, he didn’t even give her that. Every interaction was either scolding her or being cold and distant. What she once disliked beca a luxury she desired.
Irene looked out the window, her gaze suddenly catching a glimpse of a display window.
"Brother Asher, I want you to buy that dress for ." Asher Land followed Irene’s gaze to see an elegant silver evening gown.
Truthfully, Irene wasn’t particularly in love with that dress; she’d only glanced at it casually. What kind of extravagant, expensive clothes hadn’t she worn before?
But none of those were bought by Asher Land. Now, she just wanted him to give her a gift. If she left in the future, at least she’d have sothing tangible to rember him by, right?
Asher Land didn’t say much and pulled the car over.
"Get out," he said to her after unbuckling his seatbelt.
Irene felt quite delighted inside. She was finally about to receive a gift from him, given with his own hands. She honestly couldn’t rember the last ti she had received a gift from him.
[I know everyone dislikes Irene, the author will write her out soon, don’t worry. The ending for Asher and Sophie will be written soon, and there will be a short side story for Luke Land and Eva Miller, too. Mwah!]
