After attending to his wound, his gaze finally returned to her.
"Want to know how our day went today?" he raised an eyebrow, eyeing her with aningful intent.
Sophie didn’t deny it.
"No excessive moves, just a stroll down the street, a al together, that’s all. Oh, no, we did hold hands once." Asher Land watched the change in her expression, suddenly, he saw her pressing her lips tight.
"Weren’t you the one who wanted to accompany her? Are you regretting it? There’s still two days left, if you regret it..."
"Asher Land," she interrupted him, her tone calm, "did I say I regretted it?"
"Sophie, what do you an?" Asher Land couldn’t understand where his temper was coming from, "Since you don’t regret it, why ask so much? If you mind being with another woman, why did you push towards her? Hmm?"
Sophie was montarily stunned by Asher’s question, she took a small step back, she knew that this ti he was compromising towards her, she knew, he didn’t want to do this, but because she insisted, he agreed to do so...
But just as she said, she didn’t regret doing this, she just only hoped for Irene to get better soon.
It was as if Asher Land was sowhat weary at heart, he didn’t argue further with her, he walked slowly to the bed, lay down flat, forming a large "X" shape.
Sophie’s heart also felt uneasy, she stood by the bed, showing no intent to move.
After hesitating for a long ti, she spoke softly.
"You should rest for a while, I’ll go and see if Alexander is asleep."
She chose temporary avoidance, Asher Land’s lips curled into a self-mocking smile, he didn’t say anything about her sudden departure.
She still hadn’t returned to the bedroom until after midnight.
Only then did Asher Land sit up from the bed, quietly opened Alexander’s room door, looked towards the bed...
Alexander was already sound asleep, while Sophie sat on a small chair by Alexander’s bedside, her hands supporting her head, eyes closed, likely asleep too.
Would she rather stay up through the night like this than return to face ?
Thinking of this, his brow furrowed deeper.
His steps were light, not enough to alert her; he bent down, easily picked her up, and walked out.
Sophie murmured vaguely but made no further response.
He had intended to help her change clothes, but just as his hand touched the first button of her top, she reflexively opened her eyes.
"How did I co back to the room?"
Asher couldn’t help but feel amused, "If you don’t sleep with your husband at night, where else do you want to sleep?"
However, she clearly rembered that he seed a bit angry a little while ago, which was why she decided to cool off in her son’s room for a bit. How did she know he would carry her back...
Sophie tousled her hair, then got up from the bed and walked into the bathroom.
Asher waited a long ti for her on the bed, she hadn’t co out, just as he was preparing his next move, the door opened.
Sophie directly ignored Asher’s gaze on her and walked to the bedside, laying down peacefully.
Every ti she stayed silent, it ant the beginning of their cold war.
Yet sotis, even he felt that many of their quarrels were inexplicable.
