In the blink of an eye, it was Irene Morton’s birthday party. During these days, Asher Land nudged her indirectly, or sotis directly spoke up, yet Irene never revealed the conversation she overheard between Nathan Land and Sophie Smith outside the study that day.
This only deepened the uncertainty in his heart.
He stood by the floor-to-ceiling window as Sophie entered, bringing a suit.
"Hurry up and change, Irene’s birthday party is about to start."
For so reason, Irene’s twenty-first birthday party was held at the Land Family’s old mansion. Shouldn’t it take place at the Morton Family’s ho?
This birthday party was quite grand. Both Nathan Land and Colton Morton held so status in Europe’s high society. Over a hundred noteworthy individuals, spanning both business and politics, attended Irene’s birthday party.
"You should change into a gown too and attend with ." Asher said to her.
"Didn’t we agree that I wouldn’t go?" Sophie hung the suit on the rack and then reached out to untie his yet-to-be-changed robe.
"Not going would an not giving your man any face. Luke Land has already found so woman from nowhere to accompany him. It’d be so boring if I were left alone."
However, if he knew that at the birthday party, Nathan Land and Colton Morton would jointly announce his engagent to Irene, he probably wouldn’t have called her to go. Otherwise, standing by his side would only pain her.
"Go change, whether you like it or not, you’re going today." Asher didn’t allow her to resist and directly pushed her into the adjacent dressing room.
Feeling stifled and helpless, they’d reached this point, and so things cannot be avoided just because you want to. This was sothing she would have to face sooner or later, wasn’t it?
Her slender fingers lightly brushed through row upon row of high-end custom gowns before she finally picked one to wear.
Having changed, when she returned to the master bedroom, Asher was buttoning his shirt with one hand.
Seeing Sophie enter, his gaze traveled in her direction.
Although he was already well-acquainted with this woman, seeing her again took his breath away once more.
She wore a pink strapless knee-length gown, luxurious and elegant. Its draping fabric accentuated her perfect figure, with her exquisite collarbones fully revealed. Her soft black curls cascaded over her shoulders. In front of him stood a woman who was at once noble and alluring, seductive.
Sophie stepped forward, reaching out to help him button his shirt.
Asher’s Adam’s apple bobbed slightly as he grabbed her small hand.
"What’s wrong?" She frowned.
"Clothes can wait a while to be worn." His voice carried a hint of hoarseness.
"Hm?"
Before she could react, his thin lips pressed down on hers.
Now Sophie understood what he ant by ’clothes can wait’. It seed even if she wore them, he would still take them off.
"Asher Land, stop fooling around, we’re running out of ti." Sophie wanted to push him away. After all, she was wearing a strapless gown today. If he left marks on her neck or chest, how could she face anyone?
"I’ll be quick." He chuckled softly, lifting the hem of her skirt with his large hand. He sat on the leather chair, wrapping an arm around her and pulling her onto his lap.
"No, Asher Land." She pushed against his chest, resisting his next move.
