Now reading: Chapter 101: Scout Mission: The twin’s backstory from Playing inventor in a cultivation world, a Fantasy novel by Naive02.

After a bit of argunt and scolding, the four disciples gathered in Seraph’s room and began their discussion.

"So, Seraph. We were planning to take a scouting mission that has been topping the board, and we wondered if you’d be interested too."

"Scout mission?" He leaned forward, his white hair dangling by his shoulder.

Left nodded. "Yes. Since the entire sect is currently in war mode, the missions have changed drastically, and almost everything now has sothing to do with the Inferno Sect."

"Oh? This is surely interesting." Seraph smiled, then looked at Sylvia. "What do you think? Do you also want to join?"

The girl glared at him. "I brought their attention to that mission, so I should be the one asking you."

Left and Right glanced at each other and imdiately nodded.

"Yes, yes. That’s true."

"She told us about the mission."

Seraph looked at them, then back at her. "Why, though?"

She facepald. "Isn’t it so you could try searching for Ariana and her friend who got missing?"

Seraph’s expression softened, realizing he might have been teasing her too hard.

"Oh, thanks for that. We should accept the mission and do that."

He stood up, wore the old ring, then rolled his shoulders.

The others stood up too, stepping out of the room.

Together, they left the building and headed to the Mission Hall. This ti, they didn’t have to go to any specific person to get a mission.

Instead, they simply walked up to the notice board which had several missions pinned on it.

Then, Sylvia reached out and unpinned one, taking it with her.

"Let’s go."

Behind her, Seraph said in a stunned voice. "Wow, so easy. The sect has changed a lot. Did I actually cultivate for a whole century?"

She rolled her eyes and ignored him.

Once they stepped outside, they all gathered to check the details of the mission.

"Check the route closest to the Congo Mountains. Suspected Inferno Sect camp. Confirm if the camp is real."

Right read it out, then looked at them. "This should be pretty easy, right?"

"Besides, I will be able to fish for information if I can grab one of them at the camp." Seraph couldn’t help but agree.

"Isn’t that too, risky?" Left asked with a doubtful expression. "I... what if we get caught?"

Seraph patted his shoulder with a smile. "Trust . They wouldn’t be able to touch us even if we got found."

"Alright, alright." Let raised his hands in surrender, eventually supporting Seraph.

"Let’s get going already."

Snorting, Sylvia led the way. The four of them rapidly flew down the mountain, then headed out of the sect.

However, there was a checkpoint where they were stopped by other disciples acting as guards.

"Your mission?"

One of the disciples, an inner court mber, asked.

Sylvia shoved the mission paper in his face, then walked past him. Left, Right, and Seraph followed behind her.

"So disciples are now prohibited from moving around freely?"

The white-haired young man frowned, feeling old and alienated.

He had only been secluded for a few days! Why did it really seem like several years had passed?

"Yes. That’s the sa reason why they cancelled other miscellaneous missions like harvesting herbs and stuffs. We don’t know, but the Inferno Sect might attack our disciples once they see them alone and vulnerable."

Sylvia took her ti to explain to him, easing his frown slightly.

"Oh, alright. That makes so sense."

"So... the Congo Mountains. Isn’t that to the north?" Right asked, looking at the map in his hands.

"Yeah. That’s where we are going." Sylvia nodded casually, riding elegantly on her sword.

"Ah, that place is actually dangerous. Very dangerous. There are multiple Master Stage spirit beasts there. Will we even be—"

She raised a hand, silencing him with the authority of a core disciple.

"I know the Congo Mountains and its surroundings. Yes, that place is dangerous, but only for you and your brother. Master Stage spirit beasts are no threat to Seraph and I."

Seraph nodded, gently riding on his usual wind blades.

"Don’t worry, Right. If it gets too dangerous, I promise to get everyone out of the place."

Only after hearing this did Right relax, causing Sylvia to click her tongue childishly.

"Hey, tell about this so called Congo Mountains. What’s so special about it?" Seraph asked, being a village bumpkin who only knew the Moonveil Clan and the Soul Cross Sect.

’I really should go sightseeing.’

Sylvia flew to his side and answered. "Well, just from the na alone, you’ll know it’s a rocky area filled with small mountains. There are barely any plants there, and it’s almost like a desert."

She paused, ensuring he was actually listening to her.

"However, it isn’t a desert because rain falls once in a while, drenching the ground in great wetness."

"Ah, I see." Seraph said as he looked around. "What about danger? Anything noteworthy to look out for?"

This ti, they both turned to Right who seed to have personal experience.

"Uh... it’s actually nothing that great. Just sothing I rembered about when I was younger."

Right explained as he slowed down. The others did the sa to match his pace.

"When I and my brother were younger, and had just beco Initial Beginner Stage cultivators, we used to go hunting with our father."

He cast a glance at Left, noticing his lancholic expression.

"There was a particular day when we passed by this place, and our father heard crying sounds in the area. He left us in a cave for safety, then went out alone. We waited for him to combe back but..."

"He never ca back." Left helped him complete the sentence, his expression dark.

"Oh... that’s a sad case. Maybe we could hunt that creature and help you get your revenge. Who knows?"

Seraph shrugged, looking carefree.

Sylvia turned to the twins and said. "So you two were adopted, right? Or was it your mother who took care of you?"

Right and Left glanced at each other, then answered at the sa ti.

"No. We took care of ourselves."
