From getting out of the car to entering the elevator, and then walking out of the elevator, Thomas Fisher continually held Alice Turner’s hand tightly, never relaxing for a mont. She didn’t even think of pulling her hand back from his, allowing him to hold it.
"Mr. Fisher! You..."
"Bring in two cups of coffee!"
Before the secretary could finish speaking, Thomas interrupted her. After instructing the secretary, he pulled Alice into his office.
"Alice! Welco to the tour of my..."
Thomas was about to show Alice around his office when he suddenly saw Autumn York sitting on the sofa in the leisure area. Instinctively, he pulled Alice behind him a little.
Alice noticed sothing was off and followed Thomas’s gaze. She saw a middle-aged woman, but before she could take a closer look at the woman, she heard him call out to the woman, "Mom!"
Mom?!
Because the situation happened so suddenly, Alice hadn’t had ti to guess the identity of the middle-aged woman. When she suddenly heard Thomas call his mom, she was truly taken aback.
Her first reaction was to struggle to pull her hand out of his grip, but he held her even tighter than before, and she couldn’t free her hand despite trying several tis.
"Mom! Why didn’t you call before inspecting the company? If I hadn’t co back, wouldn’t you have had to wait for here the whole afternoon?" Thomas hadn’t expected Autumn to co to the company without saying a word, but he wasn’t surprised. He was aware of her intentions and purposes, feeling no discomfort as he walked straight to her with Alice.
Alice hadn’t guessed Autumn’s identity earlier, but Autumn had already recognized Alice’s identity when she walked in. The way Thomas called Alice was loud and full of affection; it was hard not to notice.
"If I hadn’t co, I wouldn’t have known how inattentive you are to your responsibilities." Autumn spoke with underlying aning, glancing at Alice standing beside Thomas. As she prepared to shift her gaze to Thomas, she suddenly froze, staring intently at Alice.
Seeing this, Thomas pulled Alice aside, avoiding Autumn’s direct gaze, "Mom! Don’t look at Alice like that; you’ll make her feel embarrassed."
Holding her hand, he could sense her tension, so he quickly switched to a playful mode to ease her anxiety.
"Are you Alice Turner?"
Ignoring Thomas, Autumn raised her hand to point at Alice and asked.
Upon hearing this, both Thomas and Alice were stunned as they were about to sit down. Thomas was the first to recover, looking at Autumn with surprise, "Mom! Do you know Alice?"
To prevent his mom from investigating Alice, he deliberately didn’t ntion Alice’s full na last night. However, to his surprise, it seed his mom knew Alice.
How did his mom know Alice? Had they t before?
No, Alice didn’t seem to recognize his mom; otherwise, she wouldn’t have reacted this way.
What exactly is going on here?
Knock, knock, knock!
Just as Thomas was puzzled, a knocking sound ca from outside the office. He knew it was the secretary bringing coffee and shouted towards the door, "Co in!"
Screech!
The secretary, carrying a tray with two cups of coffee, pushed the door open and entered. She walked over and placed the coffee from the tray on the coffee table. Then, sneaking a glance at Alice, she left the office with the tray.
