Autumn York just kept staring at Alice Turner, not verbally answering Thomas Fisher’s questions. Alice felt uneasy under her gaze, but she couldn’t care about that now, so she smiled and greeted her, "Hello, Auntie!"
No matter if the other person knew her or what kind of attitude they had towards her, Alice would face it with a smile. Greeting was the first step, and she would determine what to do next based on the situation.
"Let’s sit down first."
Thomas took a glance at Autumn and saw that she still hadn’t acknowledged Alice. He led Alice to sit on the sofa.
After sitting down, he didn’t let go of Alice’s hand, showing a kind of defiance towards his mother.
They had been sitting for quite a while when Thomas observed Autumn still staring at Alice without blinking.
He was worried that she might feel more tense under his mother’s gaze, so he intervened again to stop his mother from staring, "Mom! I know Alice is very likable, but you don’t have to keep staring at her. You’re making jealous with that look."
This ti, he didn’t just speak; he also raised his hand to gesture for his mom to stop staring.
While waving his hand, he shifted sideways, completely blocking his mother’s view of her.
Suddenly, Autumn snapped back to reality and noticed Alice being shielded by Thomas. She threw him a displeased look, "Looking for a while won’t break her."
As soon as she finished speaking, she stood up and walked over to them, though she intended to approach the person he was blocking.
"Move aside, I have sothing to say to Alice." When she reached them, Autumn suddenly pulled on Thomas in an attempt to move him. Her grip was strong, but she couldn’t detach Thomas from Alice’s side.
Thomas didn’t know what Autumn wanted to say to Alice. Rembering his mother’s attitude and reactions from last night, he couldn’t be careless and allow her direct interaction with his mom, "Mom! You can talk right here. Alice has good hearing; she can hear you even if you sit further away."
He patted the spot on his other side, signaling his mom to sit there.
"Is it not okay that I find you annoying?"
Autumn did not sit where Thomas directed her, standing still and waiting for him to make space for her. She wanted to sit on Alice’s other side, but that spot was already occupied.
Upon hearing this, Thomas’ eyebrows creased instantly, thinking his mother hasn’t realized that among the three of them, she’s the third wheel here!
"Auntie! Let’s talk over there."
Alice, who had been silent all along, suddenly spoke. Her words stunned the mother and son who were frozen in place. Seizing the mont when Thomas was distracted, she pulled her hand free and stood up.
Once Alice stood, she confidently hooked her arm through Autumn’s, not caring whether Autumn consented, and led her over to the nearby sofa.
"Auntie! Can we sit here?" Alice stopped where Autumn had just been sitting, tilting her head to seek her approval. But she sensed Autumn would agree since they had moved away from where Thomas was.
