After Lily Turner’s emotions stabilized, she withdrew from Easton Hols’s embrace. She thought she must look a bit disheveled at the mont and didn’t dare to look up at him.
"Thank you!"
After expressing her gratitude, she lowered her head, opened the car door, and got inside.
Before Easton Hols got in the car, Lily Turner tidied her hair with her hand. Just as she was about to rub her slightly tense eyes, she saw him open the car door.
Quickly turning to face the car window, she swiftly raised her hands to rub her tired eyes.
Lily Turner’s side-stepping actions were imdiately noticed by the boarding Easton Hols, but he didn’t say anything about it, nor did he press her about what was wrong.
Even though he hadn’t known her for long, he understood her; if she didn’t want to talk, there was no point in pushing her.
"What ti does the gathering start?"
When Lily Turner posed the question, she glanced at the ti displayed on the screen in front of the car. It was already seven-thirty in the evening, and she was worried about being late for the gathering.
Hearing this, Easton Hols, who was about to start the car, paused for a mont, then turned to look at her, "Eight o’clock! You..."
"Eight o’clock? Can we still make it back in ti?" Lily Turner couldn’t help but interrupt him before Easton Hols finished speaking.
"You want to attend the gathering?"
Although the lighting was limited, it didn’t affect Easton Hols’s vision. At the mont, Lily Turner looked genuinely excited, a stark contrast to her earlier somber deanor.
Whether it was her earlier somber self or her current excited self, he found her a bit unusual.
Lily Turner didn’t answer directly but instead asked, "Why? Are you unwilling to attend the gathering with ?"
She knew very well that wasn’t what he ant, and she understood why he was asking, yet she still asked knowingly.
Having already agreed to attend the gathering with him, she was determined to follow through. That’s her principle in life and work.
"There you go again with your nonsense. Are you trying to..."
Easton Hols hinted suggestively, leaning slightly towards Lily Turner. He didn’t really intend to kiss her; he just wanted to startle her into stopping her nonsense.
But she took it seriously, and upon seeing him lean in, she quickly raised her hand to block him.
"I was just joking with you earlier. You’re not really that stingy, are you?" Lily Turner really was joking earlier, it just slipped out.
Easton Hols removed the two hands blocking his way, leaned closer to Lily Turner, aiming not for a kiss but for her to see clearly.
"I am that stingy." He leaned in and kissed her. Just as he was about to kiss her again, she pushed him away.
"If you don’t go now, there won’t be any ti left."
Afraid that Easton Hols would go on kissing endlessly like in the morning, Lily Turner promptly reminded him, keeping both hands poised on his chest to prevent him from suddenly kissing her again.
Easton Hols refrained from kissing her again, not because he didn’t want to, but because he sensed her current mood wasn’t great and didn’t want to push her further.
"Have you had dinner?" If he guessed correctly, she probably hadn’t.
Lily Turner had left the Military District Compound at five, rushing to get ho without ti to eat, and after the distressing events that unfolded, she wasn’t in the mood for a al.
"I just ate at ho, what about you?" Not wanting to be forced into eating by him, she shook her head and lied against her will.
At that mont, Easton Hols’s phone suddenly rang. He took out his phone and glanced at it, just as he predicted, the call was from Jaxon Dyer.
