After Sophia Wood ntioned her request, Michael Linton felt a jolt; it was sothing he could no longer do. Last night, he had already told Aiden Taylor what he had seen and observed.
Although Aiden had not officially t Lily Turner and Sophia Wood, Michael believed that Aiden was already starting to believe it in his heart. Even if he wanted to prevent them from eting, it was no longer possible. His older brother would surely investigate.
"I’m afraid I can’t fulfill your request. I’ve already told Daxton’s brother about seeing you and Lily." He didn’t want to let her down, but he didn’t want to hide it from her either.
"What?!"
Sophia wasn’t expecting such a result. They had just t last night, yet he handled things as swiftly as he did when he was younger, leaving no room or ti for others to buffer.
Michael didn’t fully understand what had happened over the past twenty years, but he had heard so stories from his father. He knew that the Taylor family had indeed gone too far back then, but everything had happened so long ago, and Daxton Taylor had already passed away.
"Back then, Aiden’s parents did act excessively, but both of them have passed away now. Could you forgive them for what they did back then, for Daxton’s sake?" Michael didn’t hesitate to bring up the deceased Daxton Taylor, just hoping to move Sophia and soften her attitude.
"Why didn’t they consider Daxton’s sake and accept Lily and back then? They wouldn’t even let Lily and attend Daxton’s funeral." Hearing Michael ntion the deceased parents of the Taylor family, an intense emotion surged within Sophia, bringing tears to her eyes, "They even said I killed Daxton. How could that be possible? How could I have killed Daxton?"
Rembering the episodes from back then stirred deep sadness mixed with her agitation.
Michael pulled two tissues from the box on the table and handed them to Sophia, comforting her, "Daxton’s death was just an accident. Don’t keep dwelling on it."
Seeing her so agitated and upset, he sensed that she hadn’t moved on from the events twenty years ago. It’s been so long, and she still hasn’t found closure. He must try to help her move on from the past.
"But the Taylor family doesn’t see it that way. They believe I caused Daxton’s death and say that the car accident was sothing I planned." Recalling the accusations from Aiden’s parents, Sophia still felt deeply aggrieved, wondering why she had to live with such injustice.
Yet she didn’t know who to turn to for comfort, feeling utterly constrained in her life.
"They probably didn’t an those words back then. They were just speaking carelessly out of grief. Don’t hold it against them." Michael said this not without reason. Aiden’s parents weren’t unreasonable people. They must have been overwheld by the grief of losing their son to have acted so extrely at that ti.
Sophia didn’t really know what kind of people Aiden’s parents were. Hearing Michael say this, she couldn’t help but retort, "They were grieving. Was I not grieving too?"
They lost a son, but she lost a husband. She suffered the sa pain and sorrow as they did.
"Let’s not talk about those sad things from before. Let’s discuss Lily now." Seeing Sophia becoming emotional again, Michael quickly changed the topic back to Lily’s matters.
