Hearing Benjamin Shaw’s insulting accusations towards her, Alice Turner knew he saw Thomas Fisher send her back, but she wasn’t clear on what exactly he had seen.
If it were before, she might still try to defend herself a bit, but now she doesn’t want to argue with him anymore. He’s not worth her defending, and most importantly, she and his buddy are indeed together.

As she retorted, she glanced at him disdainfully.

Benjamin Shaw was so angry he didn’t know what words to use to describe Alice Turner, suddenly raised his right hand as if to strike her.
