Long Hui followed her with his eyes, watching her quietly before asking, “So… what’s our next course of action?”
Yu Qi took a bite of her club sandwich and chewed thoughtfully for a few moments, analysing the situation. After swallowing, she finally answered.
“Brother Qin Hao will probably insist on returning to the conference to finish the medical presentations he came here for.” Yu Qi sighed softly, leaning against the stone structure. “Until the conference officially concludes, I want to stay right by his side and secretly protect him from the shadows.”
Yu Qi paused briefly, staring out at the city lights before continuing, “I would not be able to truly relax until he safely boards his flight and returns home. Only after he pletely leaves this country will I finally feel relieved.”
Long Hui nodded in understanding.
“Hmm… Earlier, he mentioned that he wanted to return to his duties as well.” Long Hui recalled. “He even wanted to borrow my phone so he could contact his assistant and let his team know that he was safe and sound. I stopped him and told him to wait until you came out of the room.”
“Good,” Yu Qi nodded approvingly, her analytical mind sharp. “His body has not fully recovered from the MicroTech drug yet. If he contacts his assistant right now, I am worried that his current location could easily be intercepted or exposed.”
Yu Qi leaned back against the balcony railing, the night wind blowing through her hair as she continued her deduction. “A lot of factions are searching for him at this very moment. Once his assistant learns that he is safe, there is absolutely no guarantee the information will not accidentally leak to someone else.”
“And once that happens, there’s a much higher probability that Angelica Lee will discover her prey has already been snatched from her safe house.” Yu Qi’s expression gradually turned into a freezing cold mask.
Long Hui nodded in plete agreement.
“I understand. We keep him off the grid for now.” Long Hui suddenly remembered another detail from his silent standoff with the surgeon. “Oh… There is one more thing.”
“What is it?” Yu Qi tilted her head curiously, looking back into the suite.
“I think your brother already knows who we really are, despite the disguises.” Long Hui stated.
“Oh?” Yu Qi blinked in genuine surprise. Then, she asked. “Why do you think that?”
“He asked me a lot of pointed questions while you were inside the room formulating the antidote.” Long Hui replied. “Even though I expertly avoided answering every single one of them to protect our cover, I have a strong feeling his intellect already deduced the answers himself.”
Yu Qi fell silent for a long moment. She lowered her gaze thoughtfully, processing her brother’s sharp analytical skills, before letting out a helpless, affectionate sigh.
“…That actually sounds exactly like something Brother Qin Hao would do.” Yu Qi chuckled softly, shaking her head helplessly as she took another bite of her sandwich.

Across the city in her private estate, Angelica Lee picked up her phone, irritation creeping into her movements as she dialled the middle-aged man’s number to demand an update on Tang Qin Hao’s current situation. However, after making more than a dozen consecutive calls, the line simply rang out. Not a single one of them was answered.
Angelica Lee slowly frowned, a dark scowl marring her elegant features as she stared down at the string of unanswered calls on her glowing phone screen. An unsettling, deeply uneasy feeling gradually crept into her heart. After pacing back and forth for a few moments to quell her rising anxiety, Angelica Lee immediately dialled another number.
This time, she contacted a separate, highly trusted tactical subordinate and ordered him to head directly to the coordinates of the secluded safe house where the middle-aged man had taken Tang Qin Hao. She wanted eyes on the ground to inspect the situation personally and report everything back to her immediately.
The subordinate accepted the high-priority order without a shred of hesitation and immediately left the pound, bringing his partner along for backup. Not long afterwards, the two armed men finally arrived at the remote woodland property. The exact millisecond they stepped out of their black SUV, both of them froze in absolute shock, their hands instinctively dropping toward their holstered weapons. Several elite bodyguards were lying pletely scattered across the dirt ground outside the perimeter of the house.
“What the hell happened here?” The partner muttered, his eyes darting frantically around the silent courtyard.
The subordinate immediately hurried over to the nearest fallen guard, dropping to one knee.
“Hey! Can you hear me? Speak to me!” He asked anxiously, firmly shaking the man’s tactical vest.
The bodyguard slowly turned his head toward him. But instead of offering a tactical report or explaining who had ambushed them, the guard simply grinned foolishly. His vacant, glassy eyes stared blankly ahead into space as though his consciousness had been entirely wiped clean.
The subordinate’s expression changed dramatically, a cold sweat breaking out on his neck. “What in the world…”
Thinking it might just be an isolated medical anomaly, he quickly stood up and rushed over to another fallen bodyguard a few yards away. Unfortunately for him, the result was exactly the same. The second elite guard merely giggled idiotically before flashing the exact same vacant, bone-chilling grin. Neither of them was physically capable of uttering a single coherent sentence.
“What the hell is wrong with all of them?” The partner asked, his voice cracking as he was unable to hide his growing disbelief.
The two men exchanged deep, uneasy glances. Realising the scale of the infiltration, they immediately began frantically searching for the middle-aged squad leader.
