Singapore is located at the southernmost tip of the Malay Peninsula, at the entrance to the Strait of Malacca. It boasts a population of over 5 million on just over 700 square kiloters of land.
This country, less than half the size of Los Angeles, has roughly half the GDP, yet its population is almost half that of Los Angeles. Los Angeles is the second largest city in North Arica, second only to New York.
Their flight was a bit late, and after dropping off their luggage at the Shangri-La Hotel, it was already past 8 pm. Starving, Jack couldn't wait to drag JJ out for so food.
It was their first ti in the city. Marina Bay was brightly lit at night, the Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, shaped like a durian shell, was very eye-catching, and they could see the strangely shaped rlion in the distance, constantly spouting water.
They randomly chose a roadside stall and sat down. Jack ordered a ton of food from several food carts around them, quickly filling the small table to the brim.
All the local and non-local food items. Frankly, he started to hate so of the food he liked in his previous life, more like not good enough.
Laksa, a local specialty, was seasoned with coconut milk, curry, and chili oil. JJ only took one bite before her face turned bright red.
But, the spiciness wasn't overpowering, just unexpected. She quickly tried a second bite, then a third and a fourth.
The crab was also good; Jack felt he could recreate it back ho. Unfortunately, their appetites were limited, so they could only look on with regret at the other food carts, saving them for tomorrow.
Since they were here, the fruits were a must.
The sweet taste made JJ very happy, although she was a bit clumsy and peeled it poorly, getting her hands covered in juice.
Jack also bought her a ice cream. Seeing her enjoying it so much, he chuckled inwardly.
The eting that started the next day was uneventful, a bunch of professors making the two young people stand out. Every now and then, a few disrespectful n would approach JJ trying to strike up a conversation.
After JJ showed them her business card, thesen quickly retreated; clearly, the FBI warning wasn't just effective when it appeared in the opening credits of certain movies.
Jack was a little unsure about JJ's attitude these past few days. During the day, she attended various etings and lectures, treating him like an ordinary colleague, indifferent and polite, even thanking him very formally for accepting his bottled water.
At night, when she went out shopping, she was either wearing sexy dresses or shorts and tank tops, and would openly link arms with him; she even got slightly tipsy while drinking alcoholic juice at the seaside park.
When she drank too much, she would press her cheek against his, and every day when Jack took her back to her room, her eyes were practically sticky with affection, yet she would never invite him in for a drink.
Feeling amused by this manipulation, Jack could only return to his room and focus on his studies. The two-day conference flew by, and they simply skipped so less important etings or lectures that neither of them were interested in.
After all, there were quite a few fun places to visit. The Ferris wheel in Los Angeles is less than 60 ters high, but this behemoth was almost three tis that height, at 165 ters, and sitting on it felt amazing.
Sentosa Beach was alright, but not very appealing to Los Angeles locals. However, the spa was excellent, and JJ loved it, coming for oil massages for two consecutive days. The fact that her skin was so much worse than Hannah's was becoming a major worry for her.
The night zoo by the beach was quite unique, housing over 900 animals in a small area, divided into different zones where you could stroll from a rainforest to the African savanna in just a few minutes.
Soone remarked that the trip was well worth it; the cool evening breeze was pleasant, and JJ practically clung to his arm the entire ti, the cool touch feeling wonderful.
Unfortunately, just as Jack was getting ready to prank against soone's behavior, he received a call from Rossi.
A "LDSK" (Long Distance Shooting Serial Killer) had erged in Des Plaines, northwest of Chicago, with three shootings in two weeks, leaving six victims with gunshot wounds to the abdon, one fatal.
The locals were gripped by fear, and the FBI in Illinois was at a loss, forced to seek help from the BAU. Rossi took this case very seriously, as the BAU had never before apprehended an "LDSK" through profiling.
This was both a challenge and a golden opportunity for the task force to prove their worth. Rossi and Hotchner took it very seriously, urging the two to return as soon as possible. They had already boarded a Gulfstream and were about to depart.
The problem was that December to February was Singapore's peak tourist season. JJ canceled her flight for two days later, but couldn't find a direct flight at all. She had no choice but to take a newly launched flight from an new airline.
The flight involved a layover in Tokyo, taking nearly 20 hours. Although tiring, it was the only fastest way back.
Seeing the small McDonnell Douglas MD-80 in the waiting area, Jack felt a headache coming on. No wonder they had to transit in Tokyo; this plane's range wasn't even long enough to fly directly across the Pacific. He wondered how bumpy the ride would be.
The words "Pioneer Airlines" were displayed on the plane — a small airline he'd never heard of before.
Unlike his previous road trips, Jack had taken the concept of traveling light to the extre this ti. Because he couldn't bring a gun, he hadn't even brought a suitcase to check in.
However, unlike Jack Reacher, he at least carried a travel bag containing a few changes of clothes, a personal hygiene kit, a small bottle of mosquito repellent, and so miscellaneous items.
JJ didn't have much either, but being a woman, she had a few more clothes; she had bought a few pretty dresses before leaving, packed them in a suitcase, and checked them in.
Perhaps because the aircraft was too small, or perhaps because it was a regional jet, there was no first class, but there were a few business class seats.
Jack was now sowhat wealthy, and the tickets were incredibly cheap, so he simply paid for upgrades for both of them himself. He needed very little sleep but wanted an undisturbed environnt for reading.
But once on the plane, he regretted it. Even during peak tourist season, this late-night flight was nearly empty. Business class was practically deserted, and economy class had only a handful of passengers — less than 20 out of a hundred seats. Whether he upgraded or not wouldn't affect his studies.
Not wanting to waste his money, He opened his books and started studying.
[A/n: Nothing overly racist in this one, but got irritating fast. He is like a horny dog want to fuck JJ and was planning to retaliate against her- ans have sex with her.]
