"What's our next plan, Zephyr? Fortress will be down in two minutes."
Reglam approached , and inquired. At present, he was leading the Class-8 in spot of rt.
He probably had wanted to be clear if we are going to make a retreat, or keep pushing on. *Saturn, you really, really left with a bang, huh.* I an, I had wanted to be the guy to drop it, but Saturn stole my opportunity with such an adventurous send-off to himself. I might be jealous of him, to be honest.
Huh? Ack, right. I digress. Right, why were we entertaining the idea of retreat when we had literally taken down a fort? The answer was Class-3 had been marching here, taking a turn from the south. Karua's black cat had inford us.
Let's see. If they try to target our bases, then we would promptly retreat and crush Class-3 from behind.
However Reglam suggested Class-3 might have joined hands with the alliance. If this was true, then their target was this place as reinforcent to the opponent. We would be in a pincer attack. I an, I don't mind challenges, but I do adhere to the principle of TPO.
Either way, I need to take this brief mont of respite—everyone had stopped fighting due to the sudden situation—and reconsider our strategy.
I was sorting out a situation in my mind when a shadow suddenly plopped toward . It was Karua.
"Hn, Zephyr."
"You just ca at the right ti, Karua!"
I had her keep Rina busy for the mont. Rina knew who was our weak point, and since she had thought she already dealt with her, Karua's appearance would carry a layer of surprise for her as well.
Well, though you never know what your opponent might have planned, so I also instructed her to not overdo it.
"Hn, report—Rina's alive. Explosion didn't make it to her."
"Gotcha. Can you see how many of us, and alliance mbers are still kicking around? I need to know our current situation."
"Hn, alright."
"Thanks."
It was the simple "Know thy enemy, and know yourself." I needed to assess our battlefield situation, as the number difference could break so ta in such a situation after all.
From the earlier explosion, and the deportation magic circle that followed, I presud a total of 10 mbers must have been eliminated (including Saturn).
Once I was finished with my words, she vanished silently, like a gale she had appeared and found herself a position on a small mountain to cover the battlefield.
"Zephyr, what have you decided? Push, or pull?"
Reglam pressed in, his appearance a bit tinted with urgency. Personally, there was only one option we had.
"Alright, our main assault team will back down, and intercept Class-3 while we're at. Either way, we had co to destroy the fortress, and we did."
"The goal is indeed completed. And even if push on, it's clear alliance will defend their unguarded Base till their dying breath. And then we have looming enemy's reinforcent."
"You got that. So, Reglam, you take your Class-8 and move first and tackle Class-3. Class-1 will held down the offense from alliance reaching you during retreat."
"Understood!"
I had enough fun—I an, we gave our all for our mission to bring down the fortress. Now was the perfect chance to do a restart, and besides, our true mission was already underway. It's going to be an easy ride once we remove Class-3.
I began to command our class, urging for retreat, anwhile an alliance force gathered around Rina. From their formation, it was clear they intended to launch an offensive on us. Albeit, they're not too hard on it, so I had Sierra occasionally put up shields for us, or had mages of our class fire their spells to obfuscate them.
And amidst our retreat, Shizu returned back.
"I have returned, Zephyr-dono."
"Hey, you did a nice job saving Karua!"
"Thank you. It had been a bit tricky, but in the end, it succeeded."
"I'm glad to hear it. But, what how exactly did you save h—"
"Hn, I am back."
"—Ah, you're back, Karua. Hard work."
"Hn, report."
I was about to ask Shizu how she managed to rescue Karua, albeit the person herself landed in front of us just then. Ah, right. Now wasn't the ti to lose in leisure chat!
I put my thoughts aside, and listened to Karua's report.
"Hn, alliance has 20 mbers left. I noticed five dwarves approaching the fortress. Class-8 has 10 mbers left, including Reglam, Noel and Lacritta. Class-3 are marching with 11 mbers under their command."
"You got everything down, eh? Nice."
I praised Karua for her hard work while petting her head and cat ears. The information was enough for to weave my next strategy.
Let's see, our current mbers count are:
—Class-1: I, Sierra, Karua, Rika, Shizu, Pala, Misato, Sachi, Emi, Yuuka, and two other girls. A total of 12 mbers were alive.
—Class-8: Reglam, Noel, Lacritta. Plus, with seven other mbers, they'd have 10 mbers left. Oh, and five dwarves too huh.
So, it was 22 of us versus 20 of the alliance. The reinforcent Class-3 was arriving with 11 mbers in two. And the last were five dwarves.
Yup, we gotta smack out Class-3's force to make it easier for us.
"Karua-san. What about the leader of Class-12 you had fought?"
"Hn, they suddenly left in panic, calling Rina's na, when the fortress was destroyed."
I see. So, it was just bad timing that she couldn't eliminate them. And following my advice, she didn't give chase, and returned.
"Oh, and a problem. I didn't see Lana, Ester, and rt."
"Ah, you may not need to concern yourself with them, Karua-san. They're safe, albeit carrying out different plan."
"Another plan?"
"To be precise, this is our main plan. Fortress is down, and the alliance's manpower has gathered as well. Ester has been tasked to wrap around the eastern side with «Thunder Javelin» and target another fortress. The main target is Class-12's base. rt, and Class-8 are helping them out."
I unraveled our true objective to Karua, though she only cocked her head in confusion at the end.
Well, it's ti to see how they deal with this Check.
