"I don’t believe it." Si Wen figured Xue Xing was just teasing her.
"Don’t be so quick to doubt it," Xue Xing said. "When it cos to our southern winters, there’s no such thing as ’most ridiculous,’ only ’more ridiculous.’ Think back to when you were visiting. The temperatures were high for a few days, right? And yet, you still couldn’t get by with just a single layer. That’s what I an."
Si Wen recalled the experience, and it seed to be true. The sun had been incredibly fierce during those days, yet wearing one less layer still felt frigid. It was a cold that seeped right into your bones. But if you put on an extra piece of clothing, even just a thin jacket, it would feel too hot. Realization dawned on her. "Oh, so that’s how it is."
"Now you know I wasn’t lying, right?" Xue Xing said.
"When I saw you wearing so little yesterday, I thought you weren’t afraid of the cold," Si Wen replied.
"I was just in such a hurry at the ti that I didn’t feel it," he explained. "I felt it later, though. Luckily, my brother brought so clothes; otherwise, I definitely would have caught a cold."
Si Wen took a closer look at the clothes Xue Xing was wearing. They looked very familiar. Weren’t they from Trendy Apparel’s new winter collection? Xue Yang was their spokesperson and also one of the shareholders, so he was always the first one to wear the new styles each year. This year was no exception. If she wasn’t mistaken, the clothes Xue Xing had on were ones that Xue Yang hadn’t even had a chance to wear yet. They were brand new.
"You look quite good in these clothes," she remarked, "though they are a bit big on you."
Upon hearing this, Xue Xing imdiately replied, "My brother is a bit taller than , so his clothes are a little loose. But when I’m as old as him, they’ll definitely fit." As he spoke, he puffed out his chest, as if afraid Si Wen might think he was short.
For soone from the south, Xue Xing’s height of 179 cm wasn’t considered short at all; in fact, it was tall. However, in the north, where people were generally taller and larger, that height was considered rely average. Xue Xing had felt this keenly on his first trip north. Every person he saw back then seed like a walking pillar, and n over 190 cm were quite common.
I wonder if Sister Si Wen will mind? Xue Xing’s heart pounded anxiously.
Si Wen didn’t say much more. She just took out her phone, opened WeChat, and found her chat with Jennifer. Her fingers flew across the screen as she typed, and she kept looking up at Xue Xing, much to his confusion.
Is there sothing on my face?
"Sister Si Wen, why do you keep looking at ?"
"Because you’re quite handso."
Xue Xing fell silent. His face instantly flushed bright red.
Si Wen let out a soft chuckle.
This boy is so easy to tease. He blushes at the drop of a hat, just like a shy newlywed. I really want to hide him away so only I can look at him, and no one else. But that’s not realistic, of course.
Xue Xing scratched his head. Si Wen’s gaze was too intense, so he chose to avoid it by quietly walking over to the sofa to continue peeling an apple.
Sister Si Wen likes her apples cut into chunks and soaked in hot water. Sister Si Wen also likes to drink lukewarm water, neither scalding nor cold. Sister Si Wen... He silently committed her preferences to mory.
After he finished with the apple, he brought the pieces over to Si Wen.
"That’s too much. You have half," she said.
Xue Xing’s mouth opened slightly. He didn’t really like apples.
But Sister Si Wen asked to eat... what should I do? His face was a mask of indecision.
Si Wen had already figured out what he was thinking, which was precisely why she had told him to eat so. "Apples are very nutritious," she explained. "Besides, you’re new to the north, so your body has probably caught so chills. Eating warm apples is the perfect way to replenish your vitamins."
