As was usual, Fang Yuan was completely indifferent to Wang Tian's suffering. He was currently within his aperture, above the space occupied by the Fang Yuan Continent. He didn't even know what was going on with Wang Tian at the mont.
The books that the Thought Ruler Demon Lord had so ticulously made in order to record his thoughts as well as deductions were currently being devoured by what looked like a mountain of maggots crawled over them, tearing through each page and eating them up like they were a gourt dish. Initially, the maggots bored through the books, creating holes, making them look like slices of Swiss cheese, until they fell apart by the seams and each strand of paper was gobbled up.
Each book was about the size of a lunchbox, and there were sixty-seven of them in total, all of which were, within a few minutes, completely consud by these maggot-like creatures.
If the Thought Ruler Demon Lord was still around, he would've torn his own hair out and cursed Fang Yuan for doing what seed to be the equivalent of setting his life's work on fire.
These were, of course, no ordinary maggots; these were a special type of Rank 3 gu worm called Bibliophages, or book-eaters. They could swallow text that had been written down and then imbibe it within themselves.
The Thought Ruler Demon Lord had avoided using Information Path Gu worms to record his feats specifically so that it would be harder to steal. And it would have been, given how hard it was to refine Bibliophages ordinarily. Bibliophages were nearly extinct in the mortal world, though they could still be bought and traded within Yellow Treasure Heaven. It had cost Fang Yuan an Immortal Essence Stone, but as they say - all the wealth in the world could not buy a single second's worth of additional ti. And he was short on the sa didn't have the luxury of spending hours pouring every single word.
Once the Bibliophages were done digesting the books, he took out another gu worm. This one looked like a green sack, which the Bibliophages all climbed into until it began swelling up until the point where it had grown to nearly the size of a waterlon. This was a Rank 4 Book Digestion Gu. It began pouring out an acid within itself as it dissolved the book-eaters, imbibing the information within itself before it spat out several Rank 1 Bookworms that Fang Yuan took.
Just like that, Fang Yuan was able to take the information and convert it into an easy-to-digest form. But although the information was now easy for him to imbibe, he still needed ti in order to decipher the key details of the inheritance. That was why he had chosen to lay down his aperture and evaluate it from the inside, giving himself more ti in order to do so.
As the information filtered into Fang Yuan's mind, he noticed sothing that was a bit annoying. It looked like the Thought Ruler Demon Lord, for whatever reason, had never directly copied down whatever he had found within the inheritance in the Imperial Court blessed land. There were many references to it in the work that he had jotted down. However, he only ever referenced it in passing. There were very few details on what it was or the person who had left it behind to the point where it might as well have been nonexistent.
The majority of the information were his own discoveries into the Wisdom as well as Emotion Path: recipes for Rank 1 to Rank 4 variants of the Thought Detonation Gu, killer moves comprising a handful of gu worms that he had developed, as well as ways to raise popular, commonly needed Wisdom and Emotion Path Gu worms.
The Thought Ruler Demon Lord had discovered the thod for Immortal Ascension despite coming from a tribe consisting entirely of mortals through this inheritance. The problem was in the process itself. He had used Wisdom Path thods to find out the result of what it would be like - and it always ca out as 'death.'
When he had realized that he was not going to be able to ascend to an Immortal successfully, he had looked for all manner of ways in order to change this outco. He had tried to see if there was a specific ti which would be easier, a specific location which would increase his success, or even specific gu worms that he could use to mitigate the risk.
However, he had found no such thing.
Once this had failed, he had tried devising killer moves, formations, even a Gu House that might have been able to help him succeed. But the answer he got was always the sa.
That said, the information contained within the tos was very ticulously detailed over the course of nearly a century, after careful experintation and study. It would have taken an ordinary person about ten years in order to fully grasp the contents if they had never been introduced to them before. By Fang Yuan's estimates, the Thought Ruler Demon Lord was a Wisdom Path and Emotion Path Master - not anything easy to achieve for a mortal. Given the amount of ti he had spent developing his thods he had insight into things that Fang Yuan did not despite Fang Yuan's own attainnt.
However, because of Fang Yuan's attainnt as well as use of accessory gu worms, it only took about eight hours before he had dissected everything that the Thought Ruler Demon Lord had written down.
His initial feeling was one of disappointnt. While there were certain helpful points, none of them were really what he was looking for. Thought Detonation Gu, despite being a curious gu worm, could not act as a replacent for his Depression Millipedes in Familial Emotion. Raising them could be sothing he could try for profit, but he had easier ans of making money.
Just as he was about to consider the whole thing a sowhat interesting if ultimately futile exercise, a sudden strike of inspiration erged.
The Thought Ruler Demon Lord had been perfecting a killer move which was only about sixty percent completely before he had given up on it. The reason as to why he had abandoned this effort was because he had realized that it would require far too many gu worms and hence far too much prival essence in order to use.
However, to Fang Yuan, prival essence was not an issue when it ca to mortal gu worms. And as he went over this killer move, he realized what it was that he could modify it to do. Not what the Thought Ruler Demon Lord had wanted to accomplish using it, but rather what Fang Yuan could use it to accomplish instead. Sothing that he had been trying to do for so ti but had failed at up until now.
He had been looking to replicate the killer move Unravel Dream but had been unable to do so. Building upon what he knew of that killer move and this incomplete killer move developed by the Thought Ruler Demon Lord, he was able to modify it and build upon it to form sothing which, while it didn't achieve the sa effect, could still be used to explore dream realms.
This required a degree of trial and error. But after about two days of refining the move over and over and experinting, he thought that he was done finalizing the prototype, and that now all that remained was to see it in action.
There is no better way to test a killer move than to use it, after all.
By now his soul had recovered, and he still had Dreams of Love and Happiness Gu as an ergency escape button in case this little experint failed.
And so he went over to the dream realm that he had found in the Blood River Graveyard on Qing Mao Mountain.
It was ti to finally see what secrets lay within.
