Raye had her fingers pressed on her temples. She was silent for a while.
Then she snapped out of it and faced as if we were the only ones in the room.
"Are you happy with this? Are you happy being mated with the Alpha?" she asked with a very serious face. I fought hard not to laugh at how panicky she sounded. "You’d stay with us now that your mate is in Undercity, right? You wouldn’t think of leaving in the future?"
My eyes softened. They all knew what I’d always wanted to do because I was vocal about my intent. They knew that I wanted to leave Undercity as soon as my bargain with Rion was fulfilled.
But Raye had never once talked into staying for good even when I was sure she wanted to. She wanted to willingly stay. She wanted to do what I thought was best for without any influence from other people. I admired her for that.
"I won’t leave," I told her. Then I smiled. "Not anyti soon at least."
"Don’t tease ! Say you will live with us forever."
I grinned at her.
The discussion continued until I brought up what happened in Levian Pack. All of them were surprised to hear that the Celestial wolf’s power awakened in .
At the sa ti, they were amazed and couldn’t seem to believe it at first. Ares almost choked on the piece of chicken in his mouth, while Diaval had spilled his glass of juice. anwhile, Raye just turned frozen on her seat. I couldn’t help but laugh at their reactions.
After dinner, we went to the eting room to have a more private space for a serious discussion.
Raye said that she found Moon’s Bloom, the last missing key to the Undersea Tower. However, she only found a seed, which needed to be planted first. She had learned to cultivate it and assured us it would grow into a flower in no ti.
"So it’s decided then? Once we have the Moon’s Bloom, we’ll go to the Undersea Tower?" Ares asked.
Rion nodded, both his hands on the map pinned on the stone table between us. It was the map of the sea where the Undersea Tower was.
"It will grow in about a week," Raye said confidently. She ntioned getting a special fertilizer on her way back, which would help the Moon’s Bloom grow faster.
"Great," Diaval muttered.
"How about the incident with the harp? Any lead on that?" I asked because that wasn’t ntioned yet. But I knew Rion had it investigated by his two Betas.
"Unfortunately, no. All we know is that the couple pretended to be people from Rayvehill, but we don’t know where they really ca from. So for now we can’t possibly know who the person behind them is," Ares said.
"Are there other people, I an people not from Undercity, who know about the Book of Keys?" I asked Rion. "If that person is after Angel’s Harp, it could an he knows about the keys and what they could possibly do."
"Yes, that’s exactly what we are thinking." Rion nodded. "But I am not sure if soone else, maybe soone from my family, saw it and told soone else before I found it. My entire clan is dead as far as I know, but if soone from my family discovered it and shared it with an outsider, it could be possible."
"Alright. That is a big mystery, but we shouldn’t worry too much about it because we have all the keys now. We also have Vivien," Raye said with a bright smile. She stared at . "I believe you are the chosen one. So let’s not worry much, okay? Let’s just go to the Undersea Tower and then we can hunt down the person who dared do his tricks here in our turf."
"We can’t all go to the Undersea Tower. Soone must stay behind to guard the Undercity," Diaval said, who was casually leaning on the wall with his arms folded across his chest.
"Yes," Rion agreed. He then looked at his three subordinates, contemplating which one should stay behind.
After a mont, he decided. "Diaval and Raye will stay."
Raye’s lips parted. "I’ll stay? Why? I want to go! What if that tower is dangerous?" She looked at as if she couldn’t bear to let go without her. My heart lted. "Let accompany Vivien, Alpha."
"Indeed it is a dangerous place, that’s why I am coming with Vivien. We only need one more person to serve as a lookout while Vivien and I search the tower. We don’t need too many people. It will be too conspicuous."
Raye’s lips protruded, clearly wanting to complain.
"Don’t worry about ," I told her. "I can protect myself well enough."
"You can’t stop from worrying. But fine, I’ll trust you." She turned to Rion. "Please protect her, Alpha."
"Are you really asking him to take care of her? Seriously?" Ares scoffed, raising a brow at Raye. "She is his mate. Protecting her is part of his instincts now."
Raye rolled her eyes. "Shut up. Just do your job and make sure you three make it ho safe."
Diaval smirked and tapped Raye’s shoulder which was the sa as telling her to relax.
While Ares teased Raye, a hand slipped into mine, and the next thing I knew, I was alone with Rion at the top of the castle.
The city was bursting with life and lights. His arms enveloped my waist as he stood behind , his face buried in my neck.
"We’ll get through this. I promise you," he muttered solemnly, as if he was swearing on his life. "I’ll give you the peaceful life you always wanted."
A smile curled on my lips. I reached for his face on my shoulder and offered a tender caress.
Being in his arms like this brought the kind of warmth to my heart that I had never felt before. It felt too surreal.
