"Awooo! Awooo! Awooo!" The enemy began to unleash their fury too. The temple was ablaze, and if they didn't save it now, it would be too late. They leapt up from the ground, disregarding concealnt, charging forward fearlessly, probably having received so desperate order. This sudden aggression dramatically increased the pressure on Luo Zheng and his squad, making it nearly impossible to lift their heads under the wild gunfire, unable to retaliate. The situation was dire, and without external assistance, they would be dood.
At this mont, Lan Xue from the mountaintop issued a command; Mountain Eagle and the others tossed the already prepared Button Bombs down, scattering accurately among the enemy like heavenly maidens spreading flowers. Quickly detonated, sixty or so Button Bombs exploded like sixty High-explosive Hand Grenades, casting countless red glows in the night sky, destroying the surrounding targets.
The terrifying explosions knocked down all the enemies charging at the front. Lan Xue and others on the mountaintop didn't stop, continuing to hurl Button Bombs down while shouting, "Retreat quickly, more enemies are chasing from behind, hurry."
Luo Zheng heard Lan Xue's anxious shout and poked his head from cover to look. Sure enough, he saw more troops arriving in front with a terrifying montum. Luo Zheng understood they couldn't stay any longer. He glanced regretfully at the temple behind, knowing that if they could hold their ground for ten more minutes, the temple would be completely reduced to ashes. Such a pity. With a sullen face, he shouted, "Withdraw."
"Roger." Snow Leopard and others roared in unison, scrambling out from cover, following Luo Zheng charging forward frantically toward the valley entrance. In the darkness, they moved swiftly and fiercely, like leopards attacking.
The enemy noticed Luo Zheng and others retreating and desired to chase them, but Button Bombs continued raining down from the mountaintop, making it hard for them to lift their heads and even to fire back. Ghost Hand lay on the ground, angrily watching Luo Zheng and the others escaping. So fearless ones leapt up to pursue, only to be taken down with a few retaliatory shots from Snow Leopard and others. The rest dared not move.
Luo Zheng and his squad took the chance to sprint away, reaching the valley's entrance in one go. Seeing that the enemy wasn't pursuing, he assigned Snow Leopard to guard the entrance with their team. There were ready-made fortifications here, intending to assess the enemy situation further. anwhile, he communicated with Lan Xue through the earpiece, "What's happening now?"
"The enemy has rushed into the temple," Lan Xue shouted.
"Throw Button Bombs at the temple entrance to stop them from coming out," Luo Zheng ordered.
"They are being thrown now," Lan Xue responded.
Luo Zheng quickly set up his sniper rifle and observed through the sniper scope. Besides a portion at the temple, more enemies lay on the ground firing at the mountaintop. Mountain Eagle and others occasionally fired to kill off enemy heavy firepower, but more enemies retreated to safe zones without moving. This situation puzzled Luo Zheng; the enemy's constant division of forces seed an ineffective dribble tactic against them. It would make more sense to concentrate forces on a single point. Why didn't they think of such an obvious solution? Were they protecting sothing?
His thoughts suddenly beca clear. The main enemy forces were likely protecting the State Preceptor, forced to send troops up to rescue temple scriptures despite knowing about the burning chambers inside. These scriptures were very valuable to the State Preceptor, and the soldiers were risking their lives for it, comndable courage.
But this was war, and for the nation's interest and the mission, Luo Zheng abandoned this small sympathy, his expression turning icy cold. He spoke through the earpiece, "The enemy shows no intention of chasing through the mountain valley. Ghost Hand, flank the enemy and stab them from behind, watch out for Land Mines and venomous snakes. Lan Xing, disrupt their surveillance."
"Affirmative," Ghost Hand and Lan Xing replied almost simultaneously. During combat, Lan Xing never spoke unnecessarily, avoiding any impact on the fight. Hearing the command, they imdiately sprang into action. Ghost Hand, ambushing in the valley, had been holding his breath seeing the brothers in intense battle, imdiately agreeing upon receiving the order.
Luo Zheng checked his watch; it was around one in the morning, roughly six hours until daylight. They must seize the opportunity to assassinate the State Preceptor before the dawn and retreat. If the Yin Country's main forces arrive, none of them could escape; they must manage their ti wisely.
Before long, perhaps realizing they couldn't rescue temple artifacts, the enemy withdrew. Luo Zheng coldly observed the retreating forces, puzzled by their willingness to be surrounded and battered without making a move and even without retreating. Was the State Preceptor worth sacrificing a thousand troops for protection?
"It seems I can be bolder," Luo Zheng pondered, calculating his thoughts swiftly, then shouted through the earpiece, "Mountain Eagle, divide your n into pairs, infiltrate behind the enemy, and find opportunities to attack. The first target is the State Preceptor, the second target is the enemy's heavy firepower."
"Affirmative," Mountain Eagle replied eagerly.
"Lan Xue, bring Hong ihua here to rendezvous with , be careful," Luo Zheng continued.
"Understood," Lan Xue complied, although unsure why Luo Zheng arranged this, she agreed anyway.
Everyone began to act. Luo Zheng glanced at Snow Leopard's team and shouted, "Folks, Ghost Hand and Mountain Eagle will ambush from behind. The enemy might charge from here; shall we block them or clear the main road to let them pass? Your thoughts."
"No need to say, we'll definitely block them and capture them like turtles in a jar," Snow Leopard replied excitedly.
Others understood and laughed heartily, the tension of battle dissipating. They eagerly took out bullet bags, loading bullets into empty magazines. The previous skirmish had left everyone's magazines depleted. Seeing high morale, Luo Zheng relaxed inwardly and gazed toward the enemy's direction. After contemplating briefly, he said, "The enemy knows we're here in ambush and aren't attacking, clearly waiting for reinforcents. Reinforcents are likely to arrive at dawn, so ti is not on our side."
"Are you saying we should have Ghost Hand and Mountain Eagle force the enemy out, then block them here?" Snow Leopard asked, surprised, and seeing Luo Zheng nod, continued, "This is a difficult task; we need two defensive lines. Unfortunately, our Button Bombs are limited."
"Is one defensive line feasible enough for maximum enemy casualties?" Luo Zheng asked gravely, knowing they couldn't hold against determined enemy charges without seeking other thods.
"Using them all, we should manage one defensive line," Snow Leopard replied promptly.
"Lay mines along the 200-ter line," Luo Zheng excitedly commanded.
"Understood." Snow Leopard affird and started organizing everyone to use all Button Bombs to mine around the 200-ter line. Having used this tactic once, Snow Leopard knew exactly how to proceed.
