"Hahaha, who managed to get our lovely angel in white so angry? That person's quite bold," a hearty voice ca from outside. Soon, a tall figure appeared at the doorway, his face wearing a carefree and rebellious smile. He glanced at Luo Zheng casually, pulled up a stool to sit down, and continued, "Kid, I heard you took down quite a few Russians? Tell , what exactly happened?"
"Snow Fox?" Luo Zheng was surprised to see Snow Fox coming in and asked, "You're back at the base?"
"Just got back yesterday. With all the commotion you caused, I had to co and see for myself," Snow Fox said with a smile.
Luo Zheng knew that each Elite Soldier King at the base had a lot of responsibilities, always on standby and ready to undertake various missions, but they also had specific assignnts to follow, like Lan Xue primarily tracking the Wild Wolf rcenary Group, or the Drunkard who mainly tracked the Reincarnation Killer Organization. As for Snow Fox, he was responsible for dealing with the Arctic Bear's Snow Bear Special Combat Team and had earned himself the nickna "Fox in the Snow."
The Snow Bear Special Combat Team suffered an unknown number of casualties buried by an avalanche caused by Luo Zheng. His archenemies were killed, and moreover, by a comrade. Naturally, Snow Fox was pleased and coming to ask about the specifics was understandable. Luo Zheng smiled with understanding, "You want to know about the Snow Bear, right?"
"Absolutely," Snow Fox said, his casual eyes now filled with anticipation.
"Ghost will write a detailed report about it, have a look later, and you'll know." A robust and powerful voice ca through; it was Captain Wu. He glanced at Luo Zheng and continued, "Wu Miao said you're fine now, you rascal. You've recovered nicely, making worry for nothing. If you're alright, co to my office when you get a chance." With that, he tossed a bag over to Luo Zheng and turned to leave.
"Yes, sir!" Luo Zheng promptly responded, catching the bag and looking inside—he found a set of clean officer's uniforms. Apologizing with his eyes to Snow Fox, who smiled understandingly and left, Luo Zheng quickly dressed himself, from the inside out, down to the leather shoes and socks, all provided.
With his uniform on and his military cap in place, Luo Zheng hurriedly made his way outside, sensing the Captain must have sothing important to discuss. He walked briskly and soon arrived at the Captain's office. After knocking and entering, he closed the door, snapped to attention, and saluted seriously, "Captain, Luo Zheng reporting for duty, awaiting your instructions."
"At ease, and be casual. Don't salute every ti, co take a seat." Captain Wu smiled and gestured for Luo Zheng to sit on the sofa. Looking at him, he said with approval, "You did a good job, made us all proud. Now you're a celebrity, with quite a reputation. There's a mission Mr. Li personally picked you for, you got the confidence?"
"No," Luo Zheng answered without hesitation.
"Huh?" Captain Wu was surprised by Luo Zheng's response. This kid always played by his own rules. He scolded with a laugh, "Normally, people jump with excitent at the prospect of a mission, afraid they won't get chosen. Yet you just flat out refuse? How can you say you have no confidence without even knowing what it is?"
Luo Zheng remained silent, his expression calm as still water. However, he was inwardly concerned about Lan Xue's safety. To him, no mission was as important as Lan Xue, and naturally, he would decline.
"I get it, are you worried about Lan Xue?" Captain Wu was sharp, and not without reason—he wouldn't be in his position otherwise. He spoke displeasedly, "You rascal, I wasn't finished speaking. What are you rushing for? Besides, Mr. Li personally chose you for this mission. You think I'd give it to you if I didn't have to?"
"Oh? What mission? And who is Mr. Li?" Luo Zheng asked, surprised, sensing a connection.
"Interested now, aren't you?" Captain Wu chided with a laugh. He pondered for a mont, then his expression turned serious as he instructed, "You've joined the National Blade Special Combat Team but haven't been assigned a specific duty, being part of the reserve. Now, I'm officially assigning you to Lan Xue's team. Any problems with that?"
"No," Luo Zheng replied ecstatically. Having an official role ant stability and becoming a legitimate mber of the National Blade Special Combat Team. He had no issue following Lan Xue's leadership since his teammates were brothers whom he had been through life-and-death situations with. Where else could he find such an excellent arrangent? He readily agreed.
"Good, now there are so matters I can officially inform you about. Rember, you can't disclose this to anyone," Captain Wu cautioned seriously. Seeing Luo Zheng sitting up attentively, he smiled with satisfaction and said, "The National Blade Special Combat Team consists of three teams. We are part of the Action Team, and there's also the Intelligence Team, responsible for information gathering, and the Equipnt Team, responsible for military technology and weapons research. These three teams report directly to Mr. Li, who is also Lan Xue's grandfather. You've t him."
Luo Zheng was taken aback. He hadn't realized the National Blade Special Combat Team was so enormous. He recalled the dignified old man and their arrangent, and said with a bitter smile, "So that's how it is. I made a deal with him. But if he sends on a mission, I won't have ti to train. What about the agreent?"
"Stop haggling, kid. You traded your life to save Mr. Li's granddaughter. Being chosen by Mr. Li himself is a recognition of your capabilities. Worrying about becoming an Ordinary Soldier King within half a year isn't necessary anymore. You wouldn't be added to Lan Xue Team if you didn't have what it takes. Understand?" Captain Wu scolded with a teasing anger.
"Does that an I've already t the first requirent?" Luo Zheng asked, noticing Captain Wu's irritation, he quickly added with a placating smile, "Whoa, cool down. I'm a bit slow, forgive . Let's talk about the mission." Realizing the mission must relate to Lan Xue, Luo Zheng felt its importance.
"You're just asking for a scolding." Captain Wu laughed, his eyes filled with admiration as he continued, "In three months, there's a global Special Forces competition. It's held every two years. The last one's objective was to hunt down the world's biggest terrorist—whichever team killed the target first won. There was no second place."
"Isn't that inviting underhanded tactics between competing teams?" Luo Zheng asked in surprise.
"You're quick to catch on." Captain Wu laughed, "The competition claims to be about military skills exchange, deterrence of terrorists, and promotion of peace—these slogans are loud, but everyone knows underneath, it's a hunting ground for countries to showcase their strength. What's a bit of skulduggery? As long as it's clean and leaves no trace, even annihilating other teams has happened."
"Internal strife plus external threats, all while completing the mission—it truly is a hunting ground, a battlefield for the strong. Intriguing. But what does it have to do with ? If Lan Xue is in danger, I must go to her," Luo Zheng's eyes flashed with a hint of fighting spirit but quickly returned to calmness as he asked indifferently.
