Upon arriving at the hospital ward, Luo Zheng saw Lan Xue, Ghost Hand, and Mountain Eagle. They had already been treated and seed to be fine. Luo Zheng breathed a sigh of relief, signaled the nurses and others to leave, closed the door, and said softly, "I interrogated that fake male doctor, and he confessed. There are three more accomplices, ninjas, stationed at their embassy in our country."
"What, ninjas?" Everyone beca very serious upon hearing this. Every country has its own secret forces. In Huaxia Country, it is National Blade, in Japan, it is ninjas—a type of Special Combat Killer and Special Warfare Spy developed through special training in "Ninjutsu" by specialized agencies, capable of swiftly infiltrating behind enemy lines to conduct reconnaissance, espionage, assassination, disruption, and sabotage; they are extrely formidable.
When Luo Zheng was training with the National Blade Special Combat Team, he had heard from the instructor and naturally understood the prowess of ninjas. He continued, his face grim, "That's not all. Their plan is even more sinister. The series of assassinations from yesterday to today had one purpose only—to force us to hide in the Military Research Institute and avoid giving other countries' spies an opportunity."
"But we're hiding underground at the Military Research Institute. They wouldn't have a chance to strike, right?" Lan Xue asked with a serious expression.
"Yes, their plan is to infiltrate and steal. With the ninjas' Ninjutsu skills, their ability to infiltrate is extraordinary. They still have a chance to sneak in and then bomb the Military Research Institute to cover their tracks. If unsuccessful, they'll still bomb the institute to halt our research. This whole operation would be carried out after they learn our research results," Luo Zheng explained.
"Really?" Everyone gasped, shocked by the ruthlessness of the tactics, which seed to have no boundaries. Fury surged among them as they looked to Lan Xue, who, after so thought, said, "To seize the right timing, they must know the progress of our research first. Furthermore, they must plant the bombs in advance. Could it be that they have already planted bombs underground?"
Lan Xue's words caused everyone's faces to darken, filled with anger. Such brazenness, as soldiers, they found it disgraceful—an absolute slap in the face. Luo Zheng took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down, and continued, "That's still not the worst part. The most fatal issue is, they have soone inside our ranks, a mole."
"What?" Everyone looked at Luo Zheng in surprise, their faces filled with shock. The Military Research Institute, unlike other units, had very strict security asures, and each person underwent political screening. It was shocking to discover that there was soone from Japan inside; this was a major issue. Lan Xue, looking very serious, said, "No wonder they're waiting for the right mont to strike. They already have an insider who can completely monitor the research process. How ruthless. Let's keep this quiet for now and devise a counterstrategy."
"A counterstrategy?" Everyone looked at Lan Xue, curious and with a glint of combativeness in their eyes. The arrogant actions of the Japanese had thoroughly angered them. As soldiers, their mission was to fight for their country and to kill the enemies for their people.
Lan Xue didn't imdiately reveal her plan but looked toward Luo Zheng. Luo Zheng thought for a mont, then said, "Are you suggesting we find the bomb, destroy it, pretend nothing happened, and set a trap at the Military Research Institute, waiting for the prey to walk in?"
"That's just one part of the plan. We're not guards from Zhongnanhai skilled in defense, though we belong to the sa outfit. We're better at taking the offensive. Thus, we'll split our forces. The injured will stay at the Military Research Institute to keep watch and wait for the prey to take the bait. The guard team at the institute, consisting of thirty, can set up two lines of defense, which should suffice. You and Snow Leopard will take the initiative to hunt down the prey," Lan Xue said seriously.
Everyone fell into contemplation. Although the plan was good, splitting forces would bring about complications. Luo Zheng glanced around the group and said earnestly, "I do not approve of this plan. First, our enemies are not limited to the ninjas; there are also other potential special agents from different nations. Without any clues, where do we start searching? Secondly, our mission is to ensure the safety of Elder Lin and the research results. I understand your intention of taking the offensive to confuse the enemy, but it's too risky. If it were only the ninjas we were up against, the plan might be feasible."
"I was too eager for revenge," Lan Xue admitted after coming to grips with many issues. His deanor remained unshaken by the questioning, truly exceptional. As a soldier, Lan Xue upheld the principle of taking the initiative and attacking. Leaving three to defend and only letting Luo Zheng and Snow Leopard attack was already a compromise. Hearing Luo Zheng's caution, Lan Xue realized he had not been calm enough. He glanced at Ghost Hand and Mountain Eagle, then said with a wry smile, "This is the biggest loss we've had since the team was ford. We've got three injured all at once. We used to co out of battles unscathed, and yet we capsized in a ditch. All right, let's rember this grudge. Do you have any other opinions?"
"Return to defense, find the bomb first, and then root out the mole," Ghost Hand said in a low voice.
Lan Xue looked at Mountain Eagle, who nodded in agreent, then at Snow Leopard who also nodded. Lan Xue thought for a mont, pointed at Luo Zheng, and said, "Alright, though I really want to vent this anger, he is right. Accomplishing the mission is our priority. There will be other opportunities later. Are you guys okay with that? If so, let's get discharged from here."
"Minor injuries, not a big deal," Ghost Hand and Mountain Eagle promptly responded.
Everyone packed up and left the hospital shortly after. Waiting outside was Shi Feng, who didn't ask much. After people negotiated with the hospital, he notified others to send two cars to pick everyone up and take them to the Military Research Institute. Luo Zheng called the taxi driver to ask him to go ho and stand by. After sending Shi Feng away, everyone headed to the basent. Song Yun, seeing the injured mbers, focused on Luo Zheng and, noticing that he was unhard, let out a sigh of relief and asked, "What happened to you all?"
"To the conference room," Lan Xue said softly, ignoring Song Yun. Everyone silently followed, not giving Song Yun a glance.
After sitting down in the conference room, Lan Xue saw that Song Yun had followed them and signaled for her to fetch the floor plans of the Military Research Institute, asking Elder Lin to co over. Song Yun looked at Lan Xue disapprovingly but said nothing more, turning to leave. Shortly after, Elder Lin hurried over. Seeing the injured, he said apologetically, "Are you all alright?"
"Minor injuries," Lan Xue replied, feeling imnsely relieved. If it weren't for Luo Zheng taking Elder Lin away by taxi, at such an advanced age and without the rigorous training everyone else had, the explosion would have been disastrous. He continued, "Elder Lin, I plan to adjust the security arrangents here and hope for your support."
"No problem. Just let Song Yun know what you need, and she'll fully cooperate with you. I'll call the relevant departnt in a while to ensure their cooperation," Elder Lin readily agreed.
At that mont, Song Yun returned with the blueprint. Lan Xue took it, spread it out on the table, and after a mont of contemplation said, "Elder Lin, I want all security personnel to cancel their leave and divide into two shifts. Set up three lines of defense: the first outside the main gate as a mobile patrol line, the second ten ters inside the periter wall also as a mobile patrol line, and the third ten ters outside the office building as concealed sentries. No matter what happens, security personnel are not allowed to enter the main office building."
