Throughout the chase, bodies littered the ground, roughly estimated to be around thirty to forty visible ones, and who knows how many unseen. Luo Zheng was secretly horrified and gained a clearer understanding of Shadow's capabilities. Before long, more pursuers appeared ahead. Seeing Luo Zheng occasionally firing a few shots forward, they suspected nothing. Luo Zheng blended into the crowd, following the pursuers as they pressed on.
Soon, Luo Zheng spotted even more pursuers encircling from both sides. They moved quickly, and he hastened his pace, overtaking the pursuers ahead. With the continuous sound of grenade explosions, he could faintly see a figure in the woods dodging and weaving as if it had eyes in the back of its head, always avoiding the gunfire just in ti and running forward with narrow escapes.
The pincer attack from the enemies slowed down the figure ahead. After examining it closely for a mont, Luo Zheng realized the figure's build was very similar to Shadow's. Clenching the gun in his hand, he accelerated. Soon, the area ahead opened up, and about a dozen people in Ninja clothes rushed forward like starving wolves. As they ran, they each drew their long swords and charged directly at Shadow, the sword lights flashing chillingly under the moonlight, terrifying.
"Hiss?" Luo Zheng was shocked. A dozen Ninjas, what a terrifying force that was! His face turned icy, and he slowed his pace, thinking up a plan to deal with the situation. The surrounding soldiers, seeing the Ninjas, also unanimously slowed down, spread out around, circled but did not attack, making Luo Zheng's expression grow even graver.
Suddenly, the dozen Ninjas coldly charged forward, slashing at Shadow. Shadow seed to be out of bullets, rely watching the encircling Ninjas coldly, unmoved. The chilling aura of killing suddenly erupted, the air around seed to grow colder, and the dozen Ninjas suddenly retreated a few ters, each swirling their sword, pointing directly at Shadow, bodies slightly crouched, silent and cold, like venomous snakes ready to strike at any mont.
"Eh?" Luo Zheng was shocked and puzzled as to why the Ninjas suddenly stopped their attack. During his bewildernt, he suddenly saw three Ninjas launching an attack from three different directions, and he imdiately understood. With too many Ninjas attacking at the sa ti, they hindered each other and couldn't perform effectively.
The three Ninjas attacked simultaneously, targeting Shadow's upper, middle, and lower defenses fiercely. Under such an attack, no matter how Shadow responded, he could only kill one, at most two, and the remaining one would succeed in striking a heavy blow to Shadow. Luo Zheng's face dramatically changed, and just as he was about to shoot to help, he suddenly heard Shadow scoff disdainfully.
Under the moonlight, Shadow's figure suddenly moved. His left foot kicked back, with an unpredictable and eerie angle, hitting the blade attacking from below directly, sending the long sword flying. The empty gun in his hand almost simultaneously rotated upward, seemingly leveraging but neatly blocking the long sword attacking from above.
The empty gun forcefully slamd toward the person attacking from the middle, quick as lightning. At that mont, as the long knife reached Shadow's side, Shadow's back arched like a drawn bow, the blade grazing over his chest, cutting through his clothes with its sharp edge. Just then, the empty gun completed its arc and smashed into its target.
"Puh!" The Ninja attacking from the middle was hit squarely by the gunstock, the brain matter violently bursting like an exploding waterlon. Witnessing this, Luo Zheng's blood boiled, forgetting to check his gun, almost ssing up, this series of dizzying attacks, though complex, were completed in the blink of an eye.
After crushing a Ninja to death with the butt of a gun, Shadow did not beco overconfident. Instead, he tossed the empty gun toward another person, lunged forward like a tiger descending the mountain, and when he landed, he had a long sword in his hand — the slain Ninja's sword. With the sword in hand, Shadow's montum grew stronger, just as soone ca attacking. While Shadow had not yet fully stood upright, he laid the long sword along his back in the sa manner as Su Qin with a sword on his back.
"Clang!" A sharp tallic clash rang out as a Ninja ruthlessly chopped at the blade on Shadow's back, sparks flying everywhere. Although Shadow's body was hit by a powerful blow, he used the montum to step forward in a dash and deliver a fierce kick to soone ahead. The kick, like a steel whip, carried the faint sound of thunder, truly terrifying.
The Ninja ahead narrowed his eyes, did not retreat, and recklessly disregarded the consequences of being kicked. His long sword twisted back, viciously sweeping toward Shadow's other leg. It was a destructive tactic that left Luo Zheng in shock, tightening his fists in anticipation. Under such a deadly offensive, who could stand in the way?
Even more deadly, two more Ninjas swung their swords in a completely ruthless manner. Knowing he could not wait any longer, Luo Zheng quickly reached for the trigger, ready to fire and break through the encirclent, but then he saw that Shadow's whip-like kick eerily changed direction. He sidestepped, and his body leaned to one side, avoiding the deadly sneak attacks aid at his lower body. The long sword in his hand flew out like an arrow loosed from a bow, whistling toward soone.
"Thud!" The long sword penetrated a body, blood spraying wildly. Who could have expected that Shadow, at a disadvantage, would throw his sword?
Seeing this, Luo Zheng breathed a sigh of relief, quickly relaxed his finger from the trigger, and with a cold gaze, intently scanned the battlefield for opportunities. He noticed that Shadow rolled on the spot with agile movents, and had already grabbed another sword — the sword of the Ninja who was stabbed. Shadow made no unnecessary movents, not even glancing at the other two Ninjas who were attacking. He seized the opportunity to escape in one direction. The enemies were indeed powerful; succeeding once or twice didn't guarantee future opportunities. Even if all the Ninjas were killed, nearly a hundred guards were watching eagerly. Once his stamina was exhausted, death was inevitable. Finding an opportunity to escape was the only viable strategy.
"Rat-a-tat!" A burst of intense gunfire erupted, hitting in front of Shadow, forcing him to stop. He looked bitterly at the encircling guards ahead. Surrounded on all sides by the guards, with a dozen Ninjas behind, there was no escape — only a fight to the death.
Luo Zheng looked around in astonishnt. The guards' recent firing was clearly ant to intimidate rather than to kill outright. It seed they intended to capture him alive. Luo Zheng breathed a sigh of relief; as long as they wanted to capture him, Shadow might still have a chance to escape. All he had to do was assist at the critical mont. He took a deep breath, forced himself to calm down, and waited for the right mont to act.
Seeing no way to avoid his fate, Shadow held the sword across his chest, his cold gaze fixed on those closing in, his face etched with resolve but bursting with fighting spirit. Without waiting for the Ninjas to attack, Shadow took initiative, disrupting the Ninjas' attack rhythm.
"Clang!" A Ninja, fearless and unrestrained, parried Shadow's attack with his sword, disregarding that his defense exposed significant openings. If it were one or two Ninjas, Shadow was completely confident he could kill them, but with three more attacking simultaneously, their strikes were deceitful and their coordination exquisite.
