The night was as dark as ink, and the torrential rain poured down, plunging the entire tropical forest into darkness. Occasional lightning tore through the skies, adding a touch of horror to the primitive woods. Luo Zheng lay prone on a boulder at the mountain peak, his gaze piercing, intently watching the valley below. The gorge was dead silent, as if nothing had ever happened, which eased Luo Zheng's mind. As long as Turul didn't notice anything out of order, once the ti ca and the valley flooded, not a soul would be able to escape.
The rain grew heavier, as though it knew of Luo Zheng's intentions and ca to cheer him on. It seed like the world around them had entered the realm of water. Two snipers were concealed to Luo Zheng's left and right, coldly watching the valley's entrance. They would occasionally glance at Luo Zheng, their eyes brimming with admiration. To fight using the power of nature—what terrifying tactical thinking was this?
After waiting a while longer, the valley still showed no signs of activity. Luo Zheng spat out the dry grass from his mouth and sat down with a thud, leaning back against the rock as he said, "Take turns keeping watch. Relax a bit and save your energy for a good fight later."
"Yes." The two snipers answered without hesitation, exchanging a look. One of them copied Luo Zheng's pose, leaning against a large rock to rest, and casting a nervous glance at Luo Zheng, he asked quietly, "Commander, you're so formidable. How did you learn all these skills?"
"Hmm?" Luo Zheng looked at him in surprise, smiled and said, "You can do it too. Just think hard and train to your limits, and you'll be able to do it." As he spoke, an image of Lan Xue ca to mind. He owed much of his skill to Lan Xue. How was she doing now?
Thinking of Lan Xue made unease surge in Luo Zheng's mind, stirring irritation. He had a nagging feeling that Lan Xue was in so sort of trouble. He wished he could finish the battle here and imdiately see Lan Xue. The sniper beside him glanced at Luo Zheng and, seeing his heavy mood, curbed his curiosity and didn't dare to ask any further.
"Co look!" the sniper in charge of observation suddenly shouted.
Startled, Luo Zheng quickly got up and peered over the rock. There was no firelight on the road. On the pitch-black night, the absence of firelight ant no people. Curious, he glanced at the sniper and heard him exclaim excitedly, "Look, that tal boat that was originally on our side has now gone over to the road."
Luo Zheng, surprised, looked carefully. A bolt of lightning flashed, and with its help, Luo Zheng saw that indeed the tal boat had moved near the road, where the water was almost flooding over. He was overjoyed at the sight and turned to look at the gorge. It was a dark mass. After waiting a bit, another flash of lightning revealed the valley already soaked in water.
"Soone's coming out," one of the snipers shouted.
In the darkness, everyone saw a dozen or so torches burst from inside the valley. Quickly, more torches appeared, running towards the exit. Luo Zheng's expression darkened as he commanded, "Block the exit. With the rate the river is rising, just hold on for about ten minutes and the road will be completely subrged. Then none of them will be able to escape. Fire at will."
"Understood." The two snipers yelled and took aim swiftly, firing without hesitation.
There weren't many people rushing to the entrance, so Luo Zheng didn't fire, allowing the snipers to take the lead. A few shots later, the number of lights diminished. It was clear that the two snipers had good gun skills. Luo Zheng smiled and said, "It's a sha we don't have any incendiary bombs. In this environnt, they would be ideal."
The two n knew Luo Zheng was imparting sniper tactics and were thrilled. One asked, "Commander, apart from incendiary bombs, what other thods can we use to maximize enemy casualties in this environnt?"
""If it were dayti, you could shoot the grenades on their bodies, and with a bang, everyone around would be blown up. One shot, multiple kills, efficient and practical," Luo Zheng said with a smile, generously sharing his sniper tactics. As more lights appeared in the canyon ahead, presumably lanterns, he continued, "In the current situation, it's best to shoot their lights out. In the darkness, they will panic and fall back. Killing them serves no purpose."
The two snipers' eyes lit up. They quickly changed their targets and soon, Luo Zheng saw fewer lights -- a pity it was too dark to see clearly. He thought it was their doing as more people rushed toward the exits, trying to escape. He quickly aid and shot.
"Whoosh!" Luo Zheng fired, aiming for the lanterns. The night was pitch-black and the stormy weather made sniping conditions extrely difficult. Whether he could hit the target was largely up to chance, but there were so many people crowding the entrance that random firing was bound to hit soone.
The three n, with three guns, kept shooting at the people on the road, creating panic. So turned and ran, while others continued to push forward. The number of bodies on the road grew, blocking the exit and slowing down the flow. How many people managed to run out was also uncertain to Luo Zheng. It was just too dark.
The three of them were like tireless machine guns, continually unleashing bullets on their enemies, venting their rage and hatred, avenging their fallen brothers. The relentless downpour, accompanied by howling winds that sent the rain flying sideways, obscured their view. But that was okay; the lanterns provided the perfect guide.
Shoot, shoot, and shoot again. The three n shot desperately until the last bullet was fired. With no ammunition left, they exchanged helpless glances. Luo Zheng set his sniper rifle aside and said, "We've done our part, the rest is up to fate. Let's take a break."
With the battle turning out like this, Luo Zheng was unsure about the exact number of people they had killed on the road. Did Turul escape? In such terrible weather, even checking for survivors below was difficult. Everything was left to destiny. After a while, the scholar ran over, breathless and excited, saying, "All three exits have been blown up."
"Are you sure there are no other exits?" Luo Zheng asked in a low voice.
"There shouldn't be… right?" the scholar replied, sowhat uncertain.
"We can't just assu. Let's go take a look," Luo Zheng said as he stood up and moved forward. They had set a big trap; if Turul escaped, it would be a huge loss. The scholar quickly followed with his n, marching under the night sky, their tactical flashlights guiding them like deadly ghosts eager for battle.
After about fifteen minutes, they reached a mountaintop. Luo Zheng's icy gaze swept across the surroundings and he commanded, "Spread out! Report imdiately if you find anything. Do not act on your own."
"Yes!" everyone shouted in response. They turned and dispersed, soon vanishing into the night.
The scholar was about to leave when Luo Zheng stopped him. After a mont of contemplation, he said, "The water has flooded the canyon. Anyone inside will drown if they co out, but we can't be careless. We must confirm Turul's death to consider the mission complete."
"Yes," the scholar replied, then turned and disappeared into the night.
