On the stormy night, Luo Zheng stood silently, his icy gaze piercing the endless night sky, motionless, allowing the rain to wash over his body and splash on his face, rendering him unable to open his eyes. Yet, his thoughts drifted far away, dominated by a strong sense of worry. Every thought was shadowed by Lan Xue. His heart ached faintly—could it be that sothing had happened to Lan Xue?

"Boom—Crack!" Thunder roared accompanied by lightning, illuminating the earth as though it trembled in battle. The rain intensified, and the fierce wind howled, bending the trees wildly from side to side.

"Bang, bang, bang!" Suddenly, the faint sound of gunfire erupted. Luo Zheng, startled, listened intently. In the storm, the gunfire grew more intense. Luo Zheng quickly called through his headset, "What's happening?"

Gunshots answered Luo Zheng. The bullets were dense but soon disappeared in the booming thunder. Luo Zheng realized sothing had gone wrong. His expression turned cold as he chambered a round, and a voice ca through his earpiece, "Reporting, found an exit, a large group is pouring out, they are being driven back, requesting support, coordinates, ten o'clock direction, three hundred ters."

"Sniper, move to provide support. Everyone else, continue the search and don't miss any exits. Be cautious," Luo Zheng commanded upon hearing there were still undiscovered exits. Startled, he turned on his tactical flashlight to light the way and dashed forward swiftly. His powerful footsteps splashed through the rain, making him seem like a ghost in the darkness.

Soon, Luo Zheng saw soone shooting towards the bottom of a cliff. He rushed over and saw a concealed exit about ten ters below at the base of the cliff, surrounded by shrubs that were nearly impossible to notice. The area was soaked with blood, washed away by the rain, gradually fading. There were no people in sight.

"Reporting, sir. Killed about a dozen, others have pulled back, the bodies fell off the cliff," a soldier saluted respectfully and reported loudly. With the wind and thunder, his voice was hardly audible.

Luo Zheng looked at him. Just then, a bolt of lightning tore through the night, illuminating the soldier's resolute face, exuding a strong will to fight. Luo Zheng couldn't help but praise, "Well done. It's good you found it, otherwise the enemy would have escaped, and we'd have been busy for nothing."

Hearing Luo Zheng's praise, the soldier's face broke into a smile, as if receiving a great honor. He saluted again, then turned and walked to the edge of the cliff, continuing to aim. Two snipers arrived to assist. With three people watching the exit, no number of foes erging from it would be enough to challenge them. Everyone was loaded with belts of ammunition, prepared for a lengthy fight.

However, Luo Zheng had underestimated the pressure the rising river water put on Turul's forces or the will to survive of those inside the cave. Soon, two thick ropes were thrown from the inside, and everyone imdiately knew people were preparing to co out. Luo Zheng quickly ordered, "Turn off two flashlights, conserve ammunition. You two, each keep an eye on one rope," pointing at the two snipers.

"Yes," both snipers imdiately responded, chests out and eyes firmly fixed on the ropes below.

Before long, soone ca out, moving swiftly, sliding down the ropes. But the snipers were faster. With two sharpshooters keeping watch, survival for anyone erging was impossible. Luo Zheng exchanged a glance with another soldier, and they turned, guns aid, vigilantly guarding against other potential exits.

If the enemy managed a surprise attack from behind, that would be troubleso. Listening to the continuous gunfire of the sniper and the agonizing screams of those hit, Luo Zheng remained unmoved. In war, people die; anyone daring to challenge the dignity of the nation must pay the price. It was the duty and mission of a soldier.

"Captain, I've found an exit here that we can manage," Scholar reported through his headset. After a round of checks, the discovery of an exit took him by surprise, making him feel both embarrassed and furious.

The exit was also on a cliffside. Hearing of it, Scholar ca to the cliff to observe. Just then, a bolt of lightning tore through the night, illuminating the surroundings. Scholar spotted sothing unusual and swiftly shot down all the people erging from the exit, then reported the situation to Luo Zheng.

"Quick, bring the rope!" Scholar yelled angrily. So n rushed to help, tying one end of the rope to a nearby rock. They wanted to go down, but Scholar stopped them. With this mishap, Scholar couldn't shirk his responsibility and, seething with anger, said, "Give all your grenades."

The soldiers, aware of Scholar's temper, quickly handed over their grenades. Scholar slung the grenades around his waist. Luo Zheng had specifically left two boxes of them, and everyone carried quite a few. After preparing the grenades, Scholar slid down the rope while the soldiers provided cover fire.

Just as soone erged, the soldiers shot and killed him instantly. Scholar showed no panic and quickly rappelled down to the cave's entrance. He threw a grenade inside, kicked off strongly to swing away, and as the explosion sounded, his body swung back into place. Scholar then threw two more grenades into the cave, kicked off again to swing away from the blast.

"Boom, boom!" Two more explosions sounded. Scholar swung back, looked at the black smoke billowing from the cave, and snickered coldly. He took all his grenades, removed the pins from one, and threw his entire helt into the cave before kicking off powerfully to swing swiftly away.

"Boom!" A massive explosion rang out. The area around the cave seed to shake with the force of the blast, sending mud and rocks flying. Scholar breathed a sigh of relief and chuckled as his body swung back. At that mont, another lightning bolt lit up the surroundings.

Scholar then saw that the cave had collapsed, making any escape unlikely. He finally relaxed, climbed the rope back up the cliffside, tasked a soldier with standing guard, and with a stern face led the others to continue searching for exits. Having already made one error, Scholar was determined not to make another.

On Luo Zheng's side, the people in the cave were fearlessly charging out. The two snipers couldn't keep track of how many shots they had fired or how many they had killed. The dead tumbled into the cliff below, invisible in the darkness. Luo Zheng was stunned by the suicidal ferocity of those in the cave; he swapped places with the snipers.

As people kept rushing out of the cave, Luo Zheng showed no rcy. He opened fire quickly, aided by the bright tactical flashlight. A distance of just ten ters wasn't a problem. He emptied one magazine and imdiately replaced it, while the snipers ca up to help reload the empty ones. This thod of firing was consuming ammunition too rapidly.

After who knows how long, the people inside the cave finally stopped charging. Luo Zheng didn't know how many he had killed. It was difficult to see in the dark, and the bodies had fallen into the abyss, leaving him with no clear sense. Luo Zheng estimated that there might not be fewer than two hundred, considering the earlier sniper kills, possibly up to four or five hundred people in total.
