The ergency room was filled with praise for Claire Woodward, but no one seed to wonder why she let Doctor Holloway perform the surgery.

Not long after, the chest was sutured, and the effects of the anesthesia gradually wore off.

"I..." the elderly lady painfully began, "I’m in so much pain."

Doctor Holloway quickly instructed his assistant, "Give the patient a painkiller injection."

"Okay."

In the patient’s final journey, allowing her to depart painlessly was the least they could do as doctors in terms of humanitarianism.

With the painkiller administered, Doctor Holloway instructed the assistant to call in the family mbers.

Although the elderly lady was physically and ntally fatigued, her mind was exceptionally clear. She suddenly realized that she was still on the operating table, and the doctor was calling her family in to see her one last ti!

"Am I... am I dying?" the elderly lady struggled to grab a nurse’s arm and asked.

The nurse forced a smile and comforted, "Ma’am, we’re just letting the family in so they can be reassured, don’t overthink it."

"I don’t believe it, I don’t believe it! You must treat , treat imdiately! Otherwise, I’ll sue you and ruin the hospital’s reputation!"

The nurse didn’t respond, and the elderly lady cursed even more harshly and unpleasantly.

She didn’t know where the strength ca from, but suddenly she grabbed the nurse’s hair and slamd it against the operating table.

"Bang!" The nurse saw stars from the impact.

"Stop! Stop it!" Several others in the ergency room rushed forward to hardily separate the two.

But since the elderly lady had worked hard labor for many years and had a strong grip, by the ti they were separated, she had yanked out a large clump of the nurse’s hair, exposing a patch of scalp.

The nurse, having never encountered such an unreasonable patient on the brink of death, was furious and, while massaging her head, said, "Old woman, let tell you, you could have been treated, but your son is a penny-pincher who won’t spend money on a heart-pacing robot for you, so you’re dood. You’re going to die soon!"

"Stop talking!" Doctor Holloway quickly intervened, but it was too late; the elderly lady had heard every word clearly.

"What... what did you say?"

Just then, Henry Stanton entered wearing sterile clothing.

"Mom..."

As soon as he spoke, he sensed sothing was off in the atmosphere of the ergency room, and when his eyes t the furious gaze of the elderly lady, his heart skipped a beat in fright.

"Mom?"

"Henry Stanton!" the elderly lady asked in a fit of anger, "They said you’re unwilling to spend money to buy the machine for my surgery, is that true?"

Henry Stanton’s face turned red with embarrassnt. He prided himself on his reputation, but clearly, money was more important to him than his pride.

Henry Stanton clenched his teeth and stepped forward, saying, "Mom, you only fractured a rib, there’s no need for a machine. Just get a good night’s sleep, and the surgery will be over soon."

Henry Stanton thought he was acting well, but being her son, the elderly lady saw through his lie in an instant.

"You... you..." The elderly lady trembled as she pointed at Henry Stanton, unable to speak a word for a long ti.

She was a widow, her husband having died in a mining accident, and she had raised her children through hardship. There’s no need to describe the difficulties.

In the end, the children she painstakingly raised wouldn’t even pay for the surgical equipnt she needed!

"I, I..." Unable to catch her breath, the energy from her brief rally seed to suddenly deplete, and she collapsed like a balloon that had burst.
