Huang Xiaojue didn’t see Yan Xixi and was both alard and terrified. Could this brute have killed her to silence her? He grabbed Wan Donglin fiercely. "Wan Donglin, what have you done to Xixi? Hand her over now!"
Wan Donglin was usually quite strong, but with one hand injured and after struggling for so long, he was grabbed by Xiaojue and, for a mont, couldn’t shake him off.
Just then, seven or eight security guards from the residential complex heard the commotion and rushed out, managing to pull Huang Xiaojue away.
"Wan Donglin, hand over Xixi!"
"Xixi is perfectly fine. She’s at ho preparing dinner for . Huang Xiaojue, you’d better give up now."
"Bullshit!"
Wan Donglin completely ignored him. He didn’t even bother with his car, just leaving it abandoned by the roadside as he swaggered back.
As he walked through the residential complex gate, he glanced back. Huang Xiaojue was still clashing with the security guards, looking determined to follow him to his door. Wan Donglin broke out in a cold sweat. That was a close shave. If Yan Xixi hadn’t been at the hospital today and had been in the car instead, Huang Xiaojue would have definitely caught her red-handed. If that had really happened, it would have been incredibly difficult to deal with.
For the first ti, he stopped underestimating Huang Xiaojue. He realized this man was no longer the naive young brat from years ago but a truly formidable opponent. He had been lucky to get through this unscathed; he feared the next ti wouldn’t be so easy.
After all, he was outnumbered. Held back by the seven or eight security guards, Huang Xiaojue could only watch helplessly as Wan Donglin swaggered off. The security guards didn’t give him any more trouble. Instead, they imdiately withdrew, closed the residential complex’s main gate, and then lined up in formation, their guard heightened.
Huang Xiaojue didn’t chase after him. Instead, he walked over to Wan Donglin’s car and stared at it intently. After examining it for a good while, he found nothing suspicious.
Just as he was about to turn away, his hand suddenly reached for the rear passenger door handle. One look, and his breath caught in his throat: there were distinct traces of dried blood on it.
Heavens, could Xixi really have been murdered?
He imdiately tried the trunk and managed to pull it open. It was completely empty; there was nothing inside at all.
Terror gripped him, his hands and feet turning ice-cold, and he couldn’t help but imagine the worst. Could it be that Wan Donglin, having failed to coerce her, had actually murdered her to silence her and abandoned her body in the wilderness?
The blood was actually from Wan Donglin’s own injured hand. However, Huang Xiaojue mistakenly assud it was Yan Xixi’s and imdiately took a photo of it.
Just then, his phone rang. It was his mother. "Son, when are you coming ho?"
He composed himself. "Mom, don’t wait up for . I have sothing I need to take care of."
"Tomorrow is New Year’s Eve! How can I not wait for you? Didn’t you say you were coming ho for the New Year with Xixi?"
"Mom, I’ll try to get everything sorted out as quickly as possible and rush ho for the New Year."
He ended the call and walked over to where several police officers were waiting. The one in charge, Officer Li, pulled him aside, lowered his voice, and said apologetically, "Mr. Huang, I’m very sorry, but we can’t continue this search. It’s not that we aren’t trying our best; it’s just that we can’t enter that place. We don’t dare to... That Mr. Wan showed us so kind of special identification, so we really can’t..."
He thought of the photo he had taken of the dried bloodstains. He was frantic with worry, but one look at Officer Li’s troubled expression made him understand instantly. Never mind re suspicion; even if he had concrete evidence, Officer Li and his n wouldn’t dare to enter. So, he decided against ntioning the bloodstains.
Officer Li still hesitated. "Mr. Huang," he began, then paused, "there’s sothing I’m not sure if I should say..."
