Chapter 109 : You said it yourself.
After parting with the Head Maid, Eve stood alone by the corridor window, gazing at the moonlight veiled behind thick clouds. The cold wind brushed past her as she allowed her mind to empty itself of distractions.
Perhaps even the birds found the sight unbearable. One fluttered down onto the windowsill, tilting its head as it stared at her for a long mont before chirping softly.
Eve extended her hand. Unexpectedly, the bird was not afraid. It felt as though everyone in this world, save for her, was effortlessly familiar. She blinked her gradually dimming crimson eyes and watched as it took flight toward its own freedom.
After closing the window, she turned and quietly returned to Vivian’s bedroom.
The bedside lamp had not been switched off. Its warm glow cast a halo over the small mound beneath the blanket. Eve naturally sat at the edge of the bed and removed her boots.
Strictly speaking, she had never been granted permission to share a bed. Yet sohow, without either of them noticing when it began, they had reached an unspoken understanding—sleeping in each other’s arms.
Eve assud Vivian was asleep, so her movents were light. She did not lie down imdiately. Instead, she leaned against the headboard and took out the notebook she always kept tucked into the pocket of her skirt.
With the fountain pen gifted by the Head Maid, she turned to a fresh page and began recording her experiences as a Personal Maid, passing down her insights from this period of service.
Before long, the person beside her stirred.
Eve was focused on writing and did not look, which only seed to make the movents grow more obvious.
Very quickly, a jade-like foot wrapped in white stockings slipped into her field of vision, blocking the notebook and swaying as though in deliberate provocation.
Even so, Eve continued writing without looking, guided entirely by feel.
The foot failed to achieve its aim and withdrew, accompanied by a faint, irritated click of the tongue. A warm body pressed closer against her.
Vivian pouted, about to demand why she was being ignored, but her gaze was drawn to the expanding lines of text on the page.
“What is that? What are you writing?”
Only then did Eve glance calmly at the red-haired beauty leaning near her before returning her attention to the page. “The notebook the Head Maid gave . To better fulfill my duties as a Personal Maid and serve the Miss.”
“Hmph. She is rather thoughtful,” Vivian said, then added, “So are you.”
“I agree. The Head Maid’s considerations are indeed thorough.”
The utterly ordinary reply carried an entirely different aning for Vivian. Instantly, she pinched Eve’s cheek. “Tsk. In front of , you are not allowed to praise other won. You are not even allowed to ntion them. Otherwise, I will make you regret it.”
“You may decide as you wish,” Eve said, continuing to record her interactions with Vivian.
For example: sleeping together, bathing together. It had practically beco a diary. Of course, she did not write about kissing or practicing calligraphy.
“Hmph. I just woke up. Who told you to make such loud noises outside earlier? It was impossible not to hear,” Vivian complained as she leaned against Eve, yet no response ca.
She lightly kicked Eve’s leg. When there was still no reaction, her expression darkened, like a house cat seeking attention but denied affection. She bumped her head against Eve’s shoulder, burrowed beneath her arm, then climbed onto her in a sudden flurry of movent, rubbing and pressing close, making indistinct sounds of dissatisfaction.
Suddenly, she lifted her head sharply.
The notebook flew from Eve’s hand and landed on the floor with a soft thud, leaving only the pen suspended midair in Eve’s grasp.
“Miss, if you need sothing, you may say so directly. It is only a notebook.”
“Pay attention to ! Pay attention to !” Vivian huffed, strands of hair falling over her puffed cheeks. “Who gave you permission to neglect ? Not allowed. Absolutely not!”
As Eve parted her lips to speak, Vivian cut her off. “Do not talk. Kiss .”
A soft sound escaped her as Eve’s crimson lips were sealed. They kissed deeply for over ten minutes. Without the support of blood, however, Eve’s impulses were far less intense.
If she wished to kiss, then so be it. Eve regarded it as a passing tantrum.
Yet Vivian felt that the collar alone was insufficient to declare her claim. Her gaze drifted to Eve’s shoulder.
Yes. She needed to leave a visible mark.
With that thought, she lowered her head and pressed her lips to Eve’s shoulder. At first, the kisses were gentle. Soon, however, her teeth pressed against the skin.
“Miss?” Eve asked softly.
Vivian did not release her or answer. She rely shook her head, which only increased the friction of teeth against flesh.
After two and a half minutes of determined effort, Vivian anticipated a satisfying mark.
Reality dealt her a heavy blow.
She had failed to pierce the armor.
No matter how forcefully she had bitten, it left only a faint imprint. There was not even a trace of redness.
Unfamiliar with the regenerative abilities of a Vampire, Vivian stared in disbelief. “How is this possible… Are you made of stone?”
“Did you bite just now?”
Vivian slowly ford a question mark on her face before exhaling sharply. “What do you an by that? Are you looking down on ?!”
“That is not what I ant…”
“Enough. If you think you can do better, then you try!”
For a fleeting instant, Eve’s thoughts wavered—but she quickly regained composure and did not respond.
In return, Vivian grew more forceful. She pried Eve’s mouth open with her hand and commanded sternly, “Did you not hear ? Do it.”
“…Are you certain?”
“What nonsense. What is there to be certain about? When I speak, it is like water poured—”
Her voice trailed off.
She froze.
In her mont of impulsiveness, she had forgotten the sharpness of Eve’s fangs. Seeing them now, regret surged within her.
If they were that sharp, would not a bite be excruciating?
No, no, no…
Her mind filled with second thoughts. She shook her head and attempted to withdraw from Eve’s lap.
Too late.
A pair of strong hands pressed firmly on her shoulders.
“W-what are you doing?”
“You will not take back your words, will you?”
“I—forget it. Pretend I said nothing. I am tired. Let us sleep—hey?!”
The sudden movent caught Vivian completely off guard. The world spun for an instant. By the ti she understood what had happened, their positions had reversed.
She was pinned firmly against the bed, unable to move.
Eve’s shadow fell over her.
“W-wait!”
Eve lowered her head. Her crimson eyes were devoid of emotion. She did not act imdiately, rely watching Vivian calmly.
“I can stop. So what is your decision?”
For a split second, Vivian thought she saw a trace of a smile—but when she blinked, it was gone.
Tsk…!
Her pride would not allow her to back down. Even if she feared the pain, she clenched her teeth and swallowed her hesitation, staring stubbornly back.
This had been her own words. No one could accuse Eve of losing control afterward.
“I understand.”
Eve leaned closer. Warm breath brushed against the exposed skin of Vivian’s shoulder.
The next instant—
“Ah!” Vivian cried out. Her body tensed instinctively as a sharp sting pierced her nerves.
It truly hurt. Even prepared for it, the sudden sensitivity was overwhelming.
“Let go… it hurts!” Her voice trembled, almost breaking. She struck at Eve’s shoulders in panic. “Let go of ! Eve! I order you to let go!”
