Chapter 110 : Who Hurt Vivian?
Vivian’s palms struck against Eve’s shoulders and back with dull slapping sounds. The blows grew increasingly erratic and weak under the stimulation of pain, yet the body pinning her down did not budge in the slightest.
Eve seed unable to hear her cries or feel her struggle. She maintained the sa restraining posture, her fangs embedded in Vivian’s shoulder, unmoving.
“Eve… let go…” Vivian’s resistance gradually weakened. Her voice trembled with pain and grievance. “It really hurts…”
She was afraid of pain. She had not expected it to hurt this much. Tears squeezed from the corners of her eyes and slid down her cheeks. Never in her life had she regretted sothing so deeply.
“I am begging you… let go, please…?”
Only then did Eve, imrsed in the unprecedented experience of consuming such high-quality blood in abundance, slowly regain her rationality.
Her fangs withdrew. Eve lifted her head, her lips stained crimson. She looked at the distinct puncture marks left on Vivian’s shoulder, blood seeping steadily from the wound. Yet her gaze grew colder still.
Do not waste it…
Vivian had only just begun to steady herself when another sharp pain flared at her shoulder. The renewed sting broke what little composure she had left.
“Ah… gently… please be gentler… I am begging you…”
Unfortunately, pleading was useless.
Amid the uneven sounds of her sobbing, Eve finally rembered that she could dull the pain. She released the innate ability unique to a Vampire through her fangs.
Soon, the hands that had been clutching the mattress loosened. The tense expression on their owner’s small face softened as well. Though her voice still trembled with tears, the tone gradually shifted into sothing… different.
It no longer sounded purely like suffering.
“Mm… ah…” Vivian could no longer feel pain. It was as though she had been anesthetized. Instead, a drowsy heaviness crept over her, making her want to close her eyes and sleep.
Ti passed in this manner, second by second. Eventually, Vivian even began to wrap her arms around Eve’s neck, as though urging her to continue.
Only when Eve finally felt satisfied—and wary of taking too much—did she reluctantly withdraw her fangs.
The mont her teeth left the skin entirely, the numbing effect vanished. Vivian was abruptly pulled from that strange comfort and inhaled sharply.
She panted, her eyes red. Half from pain, half from grievance and anger. Her lips trembled, and for a mont, she could not even speak.
“Does it hurt very much?” Eve asked.
“Obviously!” Vivian finally found her voice. She touched her shoulder and saw the blood on her palm. Her voice cracked as she shouted, “Look at this! It is bleeding! You… you bastard…!”
“I am sorry, Miss…”
“I do not want to hear it!” Vivian raised her hand to cover her eyes, tears streaming uncontrollably. “I told you to stop… It is all your fault! I hate you!”
Her sobs ca in uneven bursts. All trace of her earlier arrogance had vanished, leaving her pitiably fragile.
Eve felt helpless. It had been Vivian who told her to bite. Now that she had done so, she was angry. For a mont, Eve did not know what to do. She could only move closer and attempt to embrace her in consolation.
Vivian, however, refused to accept it. Her legs kicked wildly, and the violent movent caused more blood to seep from the wound.
Seeing this, Eve had no choice but to endure the blows from the struggling body beneath her. She lowered her head again, sealing her mouth over the wound. Since matters had co to this, she might as well lightly lick and draw out the blood, ensuring it stopped flowing.
“That is enough…” Vivian murmured hoarsely, her voice thick with exhaustion.
Before long, she had no strength left to struggle. Her movents ceased. She removed her hand from her eyes and looked through tear-blurred vision at the head moving near her shoulder. The earlier sharp pain had once again softened into sothing gentler.
Irritation flared inexplicably within her. When Eve finally lifted her head again, Vivian pushed her away at once, both angry and helpless.
“Will you not get off already?! Move… get away from !”
Eve complied, retreating silently. She watched as Vivian sat up and shifted toward the head of the bed, picking up the delicate round mirror from the bedside table.
The wound on her shoulder reflected in its surface. The bleeding had stopped, the blood drying within the clear puncture marks. It did not appear grotesque. There was even a strange aesthetic to it.
Was that supposed to be good news?
Vivian rubbed the area for a while, tentatively touching the reddened skin around it. She imdiately recoiled from the pain.
She bit her lip, her expression conflicted.
Wonderful. The old marks had not faded, and now there were new ones. At this rate, she would accumulate a full set, and even her dreams would be haunted by them.
When she saw Eve’s face appear behind her in the mirror, she spun around sharply.
“Do not co any closer!”
Eve imdiately withdrew. Even she could tell that Vivian was truly angry this ti. After adding a quiet “I am sorry,” she sat on the bed and waited for instructions.
An awkward silence settled over the room.
Only Vivian’s occasional sniffles disturbed the stillness. Each one deepened Eve’s guilt. She had promised the Hatherin Family Head to protect the Miss, yet she had beco the one to hurt her.
If only she had restrained her appetite…
After what felt like an eternity—though perhaps only minutes—Vivian finally set the mirror down.
She did not look at Eve. Instead, she stared at her own reflection in the mirror and asked in a steady voice, “Why?”
Eve raised her head, confusion flickering in her crimson eyes.
“I asked you why!” Vivian’s voice rose abruptly as she turned to glare at her. Her eyes reddened once more. “When I told you to stop, why did you not stop? Could you not hear ? Or did you simply not care whether I was in pain?”
“I heard you,” Eve replied quietly.
“Then why did you not stop?!” All of Vivian’s grievance erupted at once. “Do you know how much it hurt? I cried! I even begged you! Why would you not stop?!”
Eve fell silent. She did not know how to explain herself. In the end, she could only repeat, “I am sorry.”
Seeing her lowered head and earnest expression, Vivian opened her mouth to continue her accusations, but the words stuck in her throat.
Infuriating. Whenever she made a mistake, she simply looked like that. If not for the fact that I like—
Tsk!
Even so, she could not let this pass so easily. Glancing around, Vivian grabbed a pillow and lunged at Eve.
With the last of her strength, she raised it high and brought it down.
“That is for biting ! That is for biting so hard! That is for hurting ! Idiot! Scoundrel! Idiot!”
The pillow struck Eve’s head again and again. Forced backward, Eve leaned away as Vivian seized the opportunity to straddle her waist, continuing her barrage.
It was little more than playful retaliation. The damage was negligible. Eve allowed it without resistance.
But suddenly, the pillow slipped from Vivian’s grasp and flew off the bed. Left empty-handed, Vivian instinctively reached for the nearest object she could use.
That object was the mirror she had just set aside.
Eve had just opened her eyes when she saw the mirror hurtling straight toward her—
