Chapter 111 : Taking the Initiative Like a Pet
After waiting for a long ti, the mirror never ca crashing down. The hand holding it remained suspended in midair for a mont before slowly lowering.
Vivian looked at the mirror in her hand, then at Eve. She quickly cald down and thought that perhaps she should just forget it… If sothing this hard smashed into Eve’s face and ruined it, who would fix it afterward?
She clicked her tongue and tossed the mirror back onto the bedside cabinet.
It is fine, it is fine. No need for a psychological counselor. I can comfort myself.
Watching her hesitation just now, Eve fell into thought. Then she took the initiative and said, “If it would ease your anger, Young Miss… I can accept the mirror as well.”
“What are you talking about?” Vivian could not understand her bizarre train of thought.
“Were you not going to strike to vent your anger?”
“Who said—”
Vivian shut her mouth midway. Suddenly she felt as if all the strength had drained from her body, leaving her completely deflated.
Even though she hated admitting—or even rembering—that she had cried earlier, she stubbornly wiped the moisture from the corner of her eyes. Under the warm glow of the lamp, she began wondering whose fault all of this actually was.
It was not as though Eve had been disobedient. She had done exactly what she was told. The problem was that she had done it far too excessively. With her, it was either nothing at all or everything to the extre. Vivian could not decide whether she should feel pleased or angry.
Her head itched… It felt as though sothing was growing in it.
Vivian scratched her hair and rubbed her temples, repeating that sentence again and again in her heart—the one sentence that always changed her decisions.
[If it were not because I like her.]
“Just my luck… of all people, it had to be you…”
But Eve was not finished. She even went to pick up the mirror again and brought it over. When Vivian did not take it, Eve nudged it forward and added, “It is all right, Young Miss. I can endure it.”
It was the truth. She could indeed endure it. Forget once—even ten or a hundred tis would be fine. Her skin was thick and sturdy; a few hits would not matter. If enduring that could earn forgiveness, then it was an extrely worthwhile exchange.
That was what Eve thought.
In the very next second, however, the mirror in her hand vanished instantly. The only trace left was the sound of sothing shattering in the distance.
Vivian still maintained the posture of having thrown it. She was breathing heavily, almost as if smoke might rise from her body. Her fiery red hair even looked as though it might ignite.
“Would you like to fetch a new one?” Eve asked.
“Be quiet!”
Vivian’s pointing hand trembled with anger. Then she grabbed the emblem attached to Eve’s collar and lifted it, forcing Eve to tilt her head up and look at her.
The maid knelt while Vivian stood above her, gazing down from that height as she spoke each word with deliberate emphasis.
“You fool—so foolish that even the manor’s watchdog would feel ashad in comparison. Stop trying to provoke with that laughable brain of yours. I truly have no idea what to do with you anymore, do you understand?”
“When I told you to take the initiative, did I an for you to take the initiative to get beaten? Huh? What exactly is going on in that head of yours? I cannot understand it anymore!”
“Can you not at least show a little sincerity? Hm? Can you?” Vivian bent down until the tip of her nose nearly touched Eve’s. Her eyes widened as she stared directly at her. “Look into my eyes. Can you? Do I really need to teach you sothing this simple?”
After saying that, she panted for quite a while. Her mouth had gone dry, and she licked her lips. Even swallowing her saliva felt like a heavenly tribulation—before it could even go down her throat, the heat rising through her body seed to burn it away.
“But… I am not certain what you like—”
“Then could you not at least try first?! Why do you care so much whether I like it or not?!” Vivian interrupted.
Hearing that, Eve pondered deeply. Countless possibilities flashed through her mind. Finally, her intuition seed to raise a finger toward the heavens, as though hinting that there was only one way to break this stalemate.
Try…?
“Should I do it now?” she asked.
“If not now, then when?!” Vivian snapped.
Eve nodded.
Then, under Vivian’s puzzled gaze as she raised an eyebrow, Eve took the initiative. With one hand, she lifted the hem of her skirt, revealing the forbidden territory beneath, wrapped in her panties.
With her other hand, she hooked a finger under the edge of the fabric and gently pulled it down just a little. It stopped at a perfect point, neither fully removed nor fully covering anything. From Vivian’s top-down perspective, the sight was extrely delicate and suggestive.
Vivian stared at the suddenly exposed skin and froze completely.
The warm yellow lamplight fell upon Eve’s upturned face. Those eyes that were usually calm and emotionless now carried a serious expression, as if she were asking a question.
Her finger still hooked the edge of the panties, maintaining a state that was neither fully removed nor fully worn. It was enough for Vivian’s train of thought to snap with a loud crack.
“Y-you… you… Is that what I ant?!”
Eve blinked. Her gaze drifted downward, and she murmured absentmindedly, “Hmm. It seems you do not like it.”
No matter how soft her murmur was, the distance between them was so close that Vivian heard it clearly.
“That is not it! I did not an that either… Tsk… Ah, this has nothing to do with that!”
As she spoke, Vivian quickly slapped away the hand hooked on the edge of the panties. Her face flushed red as she stubbornly scolded, “What kind of things are you thinking about all day? I am speaking seriously with you right now. Do not start doing these irrelevant—”
Her voice faltered.
Her face had turned an unnatural shade of red. She swallowed hard and forced her gaze away from the view beneath the skirt.
“Anyway, do not think about it now. We will… talk about it later!”
With that, she hardened her resolve and, with an expression of righteous determination, helped Eve lower her skirt again. Despite the extre temptation before her, she had managed to endure it.
What a trial.
“But you told to try,” Eve said.
“I… I just…” Vivian held back for a long ti but could not continue.
The anger she had nowhere to vent had been completely shattered by Eve’s absurd actions. All that remained was an overwhelming sense of exhaustion and helplessness.
“Then… shall we kiss?” Eve asked with utmost seriousness. “Perhaps that will improve your mood. If it does not… I will think of another thod.”
“What other thod?!”
“Hmm… I cannot think of one for now.”
Vivian hesitated, wanting to speak yet holding herself back. From the very beginning, all she had wanted was for Eve to coax her a little—at least speak kindly like a normal person, instead of repeating nothing but apologies.
But to be fair… this suggestion was not entirely bad either.
Although thinking about it carefully made it feel a little unfair, still…
If she did not kiss, it would be a waste. And she was thirsty anyway. She might as well use Eve to quench it.
However, there was one thing she had to rember.
She absolutely must not be the one to take the initiative.
Therefore, Vivian deliberately raised herself slightly, keeping a small distance between their lips.
Not far—but if Eve wanted to reach her lips, she would have to move closer as well.
“Then co,” Vivian said.
Because she was kneeling, Eve spoke first. “Could you lower yourself a little, Young Miss?”
Silence lingered for quite so ti.
Neither of them moved first. Vivian did not want to take the initiative, while Eve simply thought that if Vivian did not co down, she would not be able to reach her lips. She failed to notice the little sche in Vivian’s mind.
There was no helping it.
It seed she would have to move herself.
Eve lifted her hips slightly from her kneeling legs.
Supporting Vivian’s waist, she still held the emblem on the collar. The scene oddly resembled a pet kneeling before its owner, pleading for affection. There was a faint, indescribable sensuality to it.
Just as their lips were about to touch, Eve tried to recreate the technique she rembered.
Yet in the very next mont, Vivian deliberately lifted herself a little higher again.
“Young Miss?” Eve tilted her head slightly in confusion.
