Wendy’s POV
The mont he said it, I felt it.
A sharp reaction in my chest that I could not hide, no matter how hard I tried to keep my face calm.
He knew. That one thing.
The one thing I had buried so deep that I convinced myself no one would ever find out about it.
"You and Daphne killed Riley’s human parents."
The words stayed in my head, loud and clear, and for a second, I could not even respond because I was too busy trying to steady myself.
I forced my expression to stay neutral, but I knew he saw it.
Of course he did.
Ethan missed nothing when it ca to things like this.
"No one would believe you," I said but this ti my voice was not as strong as before.
He smiled at like he already had exactly where he wanted.
That made sothing in tighten.
I hated that look.
I hated the way he always acted like he had control even when he clearly didn’t.
I was about to speak again when the door opened behind .
I turned imdiately.
Dan stepped in.
The mont Ethan saw him, everything about him changed.
His entire body tensed, and he tried to get up so fast that the chair scraped hard against the floor, but the restraints held him down, forcing him back.
He let out a low groan as he fell back into it.
"This bastard is still here?" Ethan snapped, his voice filled with anger. "What the hell are you still doing with him?"
Dan didn’t respond right away.
He just stood there, his expression tight, his body clearly still recovering from the last ti Ethan hurt him.
Ethan had nearly broken him dead.
I let out a small breath, then turned slightly toward Dan.
And without thinking too much about it, I stepped closer and kissed him.
Right there. Right in front of Ethan.
The mont my lips touched Dan’s, I felt it.
The shift in the room as the tension snapped instantly.
And the second I pulled back, I realized—
THAT WAS A MISTAKE.
A big one.
Because Ethan moved fast.
He surged forward with the chair still tied to him, the force of it enough to drag it across the floor as he lunged straight at Dan.
Dan reacted quickly, stepping back just in ti to avoid the impact, but the chair slamd hard into the spot where he had been standing just a second before.
"Ethan, stop!" I snapped, but he wasn’t listening.
Not at all.
His eyes were locked on Dan, dark and full of sothing dangerous.
"You think you can stand next to her?" Ethan growled. "I’ll kill you bastard?"
Dan’s jaw tightened, but he didn’t step back again.
"I’m not here for you , Man," Dan said.
"That’s where you’re wrong," Ethan shot back imdiately. "Everything around her involves ."
His voice was intense now, unstable in a way that made the situation worse.
Before he could lunge again, the two n I hired rushed into the room.
They grabbed him from both sides, holding him down, forcing the chair back into place as he struggled against them.
"Let go of !" Ethan snapped, his body fighting against their grip.
But they held firm.
Even with his strength, even with the anger driving him, the restraints and their combined force kept him in place.
His breathing was heavy now, his chest rising fast as he glared at Dan.
"I should have killed you when I had the chance," he said, his voice low but filled with pure hostility.
Dan didn’t flinch.
"You tried," he replied calmly.
That only made Ethan angrier.
He jerked forward again, the n tightening their hold on him imdiately.
"Get him out of here," I said quickly, my voice firm.
"No," Ethan snapped, his eyes shifting back to instantly. "He stays."
"That’s not your decision anymore," I replied.
His gaze locked onto mine, intense and sharp.
"Everything about you is my decision," he said.
I felt irritation rise imdiately.
"No, it isn’t," I shot back.
He laughed darkly, and right now he looked like the real psychopath.
"You really think that?" he asked.
"Yes," I said firmly.
He leaned forward as much as the restraints allowed, his eyes still fixed on .
"You’re standing there with him," he said, his voice lower now. "I existed before this, you should know what I’m capable of."
I crossed my arms slightly."You don’t," I replied.
That hit him square in the face.
I saw it.
And for a second, sothing shifted in his expression before it turned into sothing worse.
"Why are you suddenly thinking like that? Because I killed our mom? You think I’m a maniac now?" he asked.
"You’re Ethan," I said.
He shook his head slowly."No," he said. "I’m not, I only fight for what belongs to "
The n holding him adjusted their grip again as he tried to push forward.
His attention snapped back to Dan.
"You," he said, his voice sharp. "You don’t belong anywhere near her."
Dan didn’t respond. He just stood there, watching him carefully.
Ethan let out a harsh breath, then looked back at again.
"And you," he continued, his tone changing slightly, becoming more intense, "you think you can just do whatever you want now after leading astray?."
"I already did," I replied.
He stared at for a long second.
Then sothing in him snapped completely.
"You don’t get it," he said, his voice rising now, filled with sothing unhinged. "You don’t get to decide that Wendy."
"I already did," I repeated.
He shook his head again, harder this ti.
"No," he said. "You didn’t."
The tension in the room was heavy now and even the n holding him were starting to struggle more as his strength pushed against them.
"Ethan, stop this," I said, trying to keep control of the situation.
But he wasn’t listening.
Not anymore.
His eyes moved between and Dan, sothing dark settling in them that made my stomach tighten.
"You think I’ll just let this go?" he asked.
"Yes," I said.
He laughed again."You don’t know at all if that’s the case," he replied.
I didn’t answer. Because I did know him.
And that was exactly why this was dangerous.
His breathing slowed slightly, but his gaze stayed intense, focused.
"You and Riley," he said slowly.
I felt my chest tighten slightly at the ntion of her na.
"What about her?" I asked carefully.
His lips curved into sothing that wasn’t a smile.
"You both belong to ," he said.
My expression hardened imdiately.
"You’re insane and I’ll get you help," I replied.
He didn’t react to my words.
Instead, he leaned forward again as much as he could, his voice dropping lower, more dangerous.
"If I don’t have you both," he said, his tone calm but filled with an aura that made my breath cease for a second "then I’ll kill you both."
