Camilla’s POV
The weight of Hugo’s accusations had been crushing since our confrontation. His questions about that night echoed in my mind like a broken record, each repetition making my chest tighter. I retreated to my bedroom without fighting back because honestly, I had no defense to offer.
Once safely behind closed doors, I grabbed my phone and dialed my mother’s number. My feet carried restlessly from wall to wall as the line rang.
"Well, well, another call from my dear daughter today," she answered with obvious amusent. She was clearly referencing our earlier conversation when she had instructed to stop Hugo from taking Zack away.
What she didn’t know was that my attempt to follow her advice had backfired spectacularly. Now Hugo suspected of sothing that could destroy everything.
"This isn’t the ti for jokes, Mom," I snapped, my voice sharp with anxiety.
"Alright, you sound completely wound up. What went wrong? Did he ignore what you said?" Her tone shifted to concern, still focused on our previous discussion.
"I need to see you," I declared, my voice leaving no room for argunt.
"Of course. What’s troubling you?" she asked, matching my serious energy.
"Not over the phone. I’m coming to you right now," I said, already reaching for my purse.
With Hugo gone, nothing was stopping from leaving imdiately.
I had barely made it to the window when movent outside caught my attention.
All three alphas were walking toward their vehicles, each one carrying a small child. The sight made my stomach drop as questions flooded my mind.
Each man held a different baby, and the implications started forming connections I didn’t want to make.
As I stepped out of my room, the sound of sothing being slamd repeatedly ca from upstairs.
I hadn’t realized anyone else was in the house. Curiosity pulled toward the stairs, where I discovered Moon stalking back and forth in the hallway, her anger practically radiating from her body.
"How could she do this? How could she?" Moon was muttering to herself, completely unaware of my presence.
Her hands were balled into tight fists, and when she spun around to pace in my direction, she froze mid-step upon seeing .
"Oh. I didn’t expect to run into you here," I said, keeping my voice level despite knowing she held no love for . These alpha and beta daughters were notorious for their superiority complexes.
They looked down on anyone they considered beneath their status. The only reason our paths ever crossed was through the friendship between Hugo, Parker, and Derek.
"You’re engaged to Hugo, correct?" she asked, and I could see her making an effort to sound civil.
The vein pulsing at her temple told she was barely containing whatever was really going through her mind.
"Yes, our engagent invitations went out weeks ago. Did you get yours?" I replied, though I already knew the answer.
Moon and I had never really interacted before this mont. I’d seen her at various social functions the alphas hosted, but we’d never exchanged more than polite nods.
"We received them," she confird, crossing her arms defensively.
I couldn’t help but notice how stunning she looked in her white dress. The color complented the diamond jewelry she wore perfectly.
She moved closer, her posture rigid and intimidating.
"And unless I’m mistaken, you’re Bella Vance’s sister."
There it was. The hostility I’d been expecting finally surfaced in her voice.
I understood imdiately why her deanor had changed. She despised my sister.
Of course she did. Moon had made Bella’s life miserable for years, and everyone in our social circle knew it.
Her red hair seed to glow brighter with her anger, and there wasn’t even a hint of remorse for her past behavior as a bully.
"So tell , what has your sister been up to lately? I understand she’s married with children now, but the rumors I’m hearing are absolutely revolting," she said, her words dripping with disgust.
"What rumors? I have no idea what you an," I answered honestly, watching as she rolled her eyes in disbelief.
"I’m not lying. My sister and I don’t have a relationship." The mont those words left my mouth, sothing shifted in her expression.
"She always caused nothing but chaos wherever she went," I added, and I saw Moon’s shoulders relax slightly.
"Well, it appears your sister may have been unfaithful to her husband."
My heart stopped. The words hit like a physical blow, leaving reeling with confusion.
Was she jumping to conclusions about infidelity because the babies had been placed with different alphas?
But why would they need different alphas in the first place?
"I can see you’re completely in the dark about this," she observed, clearly enjoying my shocked expression.
Before I could process what she’d revealed, the sound of soone crying out in distress ca from downstairs, followed by the sharp crash of breaking glass.
Our eyes locked for a split second before I rushed toward the staircase, desperate to understand what was happening.
I found Serena standing over broken glass fragnts, her entire body trembling with rage.
Felicia sat at the dining table, watching the scene unfold with obvious boredom.
"What’s happening down here?" Moon pushed past , knowing that Serena wouldn’t welco any interaction with .
The mont Serena turned to face Moon, her gaze imdiately shifted to include in her fury.
"Your disgusting sister is nothing but a whore," she scread, her voice so loud it made instinctively step backward.
Part of wanted to act offended by her words, but truthfully, I was desperate to hear what she knew.
"Are you just finding this out now?" Moon comnted mockingly, making it crystal clear that every woman in this room harbored hatred for my sister.
"I don’t understand what she’s done this ti," I said.
"For starters, your sister screwed all of our n."
The blood in my veins turned to ice.
"She didn’t just sleep with Derek. She slept with Hugo and Parker too," Serena shrieked at the top of her lungs.
