"Oh? Isn’t soone very arrogant. I take it you’re going to take this seriously?"

Morr stretched out its wings as miniature eyes suddenly appeared alongside its feathers.

The mont I looked at one of the eyes, I felt as though a boulder had been tossed onto my shoulders, causing to freeze in place.

And while I was frozen, Morr took it upon itself to cause the entire sky to turn pitch black.

My hair stood on end, and I got this feeling of dread coming from above that seed to make my feet go numb.

But I didn’t challenge Morr to a spar just so I could lose in the first three seconds.

ZZZZZZZZZZZT!

Black lightning descended swiftly, yet the mont it entered my Control Field, it was as though the lightning itself was moving in slow motion.

So bearing through my dulled senses, I kicked off the ground, dodging the lightning strike from impaling .

BOOOOOOOOOM!

Despite its slow speed, a pitch black crater ford in the ground, sending dust and rubble my way, as I narrowly dodged everything and stood several ters apart from Morr.

I took a deep breath and narrowed my eyes.

That was a little too close for comfort.

I couldn’t exactly look at the miniature eyes on its wings, since I would imdiately get debuffed.

It was a neat trick.

But the tricks end now.

My feet dug into the stone as I abruptly kicked off, sending spider-like cracks throughout the ground as I quickly closed the distance between Morr and .

The air whistled as my fist approached Morr, but right as it was about to connect with the smug raven’s face, I felt sothing latch onto my foot and pull down to one knee.

For a brief mont, I saw the silhouette of a black tentacle made of lightning that burned my leg and tried to paralyze my body.

I didn’t destroy the tentacle, allowing it to shock my body and increase my Lightning Resistance level.

Regardless, I glanced back up at Morr and noticed the calm look in its eyes. For a mont, I felt like Morr was treating like a joke, and for that reason, I decided to scrap close range and move onto long range.

With a single thought, a pillar of black lightning descended directly onto Morr. It flapped its wings, redirecting the lightning toward , but since I already expected this to happen, I raised my hand and controlled the incoming lightning, changing its direction, and then launching myself forward alongside the lightning.

I arrived in front of Morr in an instant, then used my imagination to conjure up a black lightning prison, trapping Morr inside.

But despite that being my intent, when I blinked, Morr had already vanished from the prison, leaving behind only a single feather.

I abruptly glanced up, and to my surprise, there were hundreds of thin black cracks spread out throughout the sky as if the space itself had been twisted and broken apart.

The cracks were small at first, but once I stared directly at them, the cracks opened, revealing thousands of giant crimson eyes, all of which were looking straight at .

My vision of the surroundings turned cloudy and distorted. All I could see were those crimson eyes, and all I could hear was my heart thumping loudly in my chest.

I felt like I was floating.

Yet the constant pain running through my body, followed by my limbs being cut off, was a cruel reminder that whatever was going on was sothing I couldn’t even understand or control, as it was way beyond my power to do so.

But despite that, I was eventually able to close my eyes, and when I did, I felt all the pain disappear.

I was at peace.

...At peace?

Why can’t I feel anything?

I tried to open my eyes, but once again, I felt like I didn’t have any to begin with.

Move my arms... only to realize I didn’t have any.

...What’s happening?

I waited.

And waited.

And waited...

And waited.....

Hours passed.

Days, maybe?

Why was nothing happening?

I couldn’t feel or channel my energy.

In the end, I was stuck, waiting for Morr to finally release .

Yet in the next instant, among the never-ending darkness, I spotted a number.

1,238,094,899.

The sa number I had left off at in the past, back when I was counting during my 100 years of solitude.

But why did that number appear again?

1,238,094,899.

And again...?

...What do you want from ?

Morr.

Answer .

The silence continued.

Yet the number remained.

But I didn’t give in.

I just remained there with only my thoughts to myself.

Though unlike the previous ti where I had nothing to actually look forward to except a shallow goal... I now had Clentine.

So instead of continuing the count I had long abandoned, I just thought of Clentine.

Her beautiful eyes.

Her beautiful smile.

Her cheeky but mature personality...

Everything.

***

Ti seed to pass quickly.

But unlike back then, my mind isn’t in tatters.

Instead, I couldn’t help but chuckle to myself as I recalled the few jokes Clentine had said.

Just then, I heard a buzzing sound in my ear, which quickly beca louder, until eventually, I heard the rustling of leaves and the blowing of the wind.

All the sensations I had lost had returned, and as I took a breath of fresh air, I finally opened my eyes.

Everything was still a little blurry, and I still felt numb.

But I could see Morr floating above , its wings folded as it stared at with its single crimson eye.

And as if realizing that I was fine, it turned into lightning and soon traveled back inside my body.

Just like that, I was once again t with silence, except now, I could feel my body and hear everything around .

Though...

I could also feel how my hands weren’t exactly connected to the rest of my body.

Nor were my feet.

Ignoring the scorching pain that suddenly washed over , I exhaled a relieved breath and just lay there, until Morr spoke inside my mind.

[It’s a bit too early for you to spar against .]

"You think? If anything, I feel like I could learn a lot through fighting you."

[I can’t hold back when I fight, and so our fights would always result in the sa outco. When I win, you’ll be stuck without your senses again,] Morr said.

I paused for a mont, then smiled slightly.

"Morr, if I can win against you even once while sparring, do you think you could teach that weird eye technique?"

[...]

[Did you forget already? You will be stuck without your senses every ti you lose.]

I chuckled, then shrugged.

"That’s fine. We have until Clentine learns how to treat . So what do you say, Morr?"
