I reappeared in the sky, and right as I did, a powerful burst of energy arrived before , entering my Telekinetic Control Field and slowing down considerably. As I stared at the burst of purple energy, I let out a sigh and carefully absorbed it, restoring a large chunk of my energy.
Then, I glanced ahead, spotting Clentine fiercely striking Alexius across the face, launching him across the sky. It really did seem like he was losing, but despite his regeneration not working, the fact that he didn’t look tired at all, and Clentine did, was enough for to realize she wasn’t winning at all.
Instead, he was overwhelming her.
And right as he repositioned, prepared to send another attack her way, I arrived in front of the two, causing both of them to halt.
"Hey there. I’m back after having a little talk with the Divine Beast of yours. I’m sure you’ll have a very pleasant conversation later too. But until then, Morr."
[On it.]
In the next instant, Morr reappeared atop my head and spread out its wings nacingly. Small crimson eyes began to form across its wings, much like they did when he first used that weird technique of his on .
And of course, since Alexius didn’t expect it, he was caught up in the technique. His eyes turned cloudy, and now he just floated there, almost lifelessly.
I knew just the extent this kind of technique could go to, since I’ve experienced it tens of tis while fighting against Morr. Not only that, I also knew that the technique wouldn’t work as well against Alexius, because he had no emotions.
For him to cling to sothing and make the ti pass faster... That’s not an option.
By now, years must have already passed. Years of complete silence, left only to his own thoughts.
Despite that, I took a deep breath and approached him. Once I was in front of him, I tapped him on the forehead, then infused a fierce amount of Black Lightning directly into his brain, frying it completely.
Under normal circumstances, he would’ve turned brain-dead by now. However, I couldn’t help but feel like there was soone else in the background doing sothing to him.
And as I turned to Clentine and gave her a nod, my suspicions were confird.
"He doesn’t have a soul," she said.
I narrowed my eyes.
"Literally?"
"Yes... When I fought him earlier, he had a soul. Now there’s nothing."
Just as I was about to reply, Alexius’s voice resounded behind .
"Do you think I haven’t taken any contingency plans in case you do sothing to my consciousness?"
I turned to him and frowned.
His eyes were still cloudy, but he was clearly conscious. I knew he had a bunch of tricks up his sleeve, but seriously...?
"Today was fun, Amon Everness, Clentine Noir. I believe our next eting will be a little more fruitful than our current one. Until then."
Before I could even react, his body turned to dust. The dust particles didn’t contain any traces of energy, and when I used my Mystic Eyes, trying to track him down, I realized that he wasn’t even here in the first place.
I had no idea what happened, or how he managed to get away with this. Rather, the only explanation would be that the Divine Beast had intervened and did sothing. But then again, I thought I had injured it a decent bit...
I guess not.
But of course, as his presence faded, and only Clentine and I were left in the sky alongside her Soul Army, I quickly realized that the main reason why the fight had erupted so far away was because Alexius was being used as a decoy.
And as for the main deal... I felt a chunk of energy suddenly descend onto the destroyed palace, killing multiple nobles that I had rescued.
Clentine’s brow twitched as she felt it too. Without wasting a single second, I appeared beside her, grabbed her hand, and then teleported to my lightning over at the palace.
The mont I did, I spotted a certain figure standing beside Kevin and the others. It was the instructor who could control Telekinesis, and to my surprise, he was currently holding Kevin, Isabelle, and even lina by their throats.
They couldn’t move or use any of their energy. Not only that, his energy was wrapped fiercely around the emperor’s throat, and with no one powerful enough to stop him, he—
STAB!
A thin needle suddenly struck him from above, embedding itself into the back of his neck. He let go of Kevin and the others, and even the emperor himself. As for Clentine, who tossed the needle, she let out a sigh.
"Well, I expected a little better freebie. But this guy will do."
She snapped her fingers and began ssing with his soul. In just a few monts, his hair had turned silver, as did his eyes. Before long, he had beco a part of her Soul Army.
It was a bit funny how fast it had happened. After all, I expected there to be much more of a fight involved. If anything, everything that happened from the start of the Gala seed a little convenient.
...Almost like soone was testing us.
"..."
Could it be that the reason William did this was because he wanted to gauge just how strong I’d gotten?
That, or they were trying to gauge soone else’s strength... because no way in hell would a Demon King fail at killing a re emperor.
That much, I was 100% sure of.
Silence once again descended, and so Clentine and I descended down toward the emperor, as well as Kevin and the others. They were fine, but a bit pale because they were literally suffocating a few seconds ago.
But aside from that, everyone here was fine.
I exhaled a relieved breath, and for a brief mont, I let my guard down.
Just then, I saw a pale, white-haired and white-eyed man appear out of nowhere and, at a speed I could barely react to, pierce the emperor straight through the chest.
