Weirdly enough, now that the devilish cat was out of the bag, I felt more at ease than before. I wasn’t going crazy, there was just a diabolical lady stuck inside my head.
“Would have been fun to see you go crazy though.” She comnted while I was trying to fix the damage I had caused by using my healing magic. It required a bit of puzzling pieces together first but luckily we still had everything, making the repair rather easy.
“That should do it, sorry for destroying it in the first place.” I apologized as my sister looked around the kitchen countertop.
She gave a thumbs up. “Looks all fine now. Again, trying to hit a devil to defend your house is, I think, a valid excuse, besides you are skilled enough to fix it yourself so that helps.”
“And looks like the police didn’t get called on us which isn’t bad either.” Nikki nodded in agreent. “The neighbours must have thought that sothing fell down. I will still make them a cake to apologize though. Good neighbours are important to keep happy.”
“I have already sent a ssage to Veanya that we have a bit of a situation.” Sam comnted as she stood by my side. “It probably won’t take long for her to get here.”
“Not necessary but an expected result.” The lady rolled her eyes.
“Shush.”
“Was that to , or…?” Sam looked over her phone at .
“No, this lady just keeps making snarky comnts…” I replied. “It’s a bit annoying.”
“My reason for being.”
“Urgh…”
“Amicia?” Hilda tilted her head slightly at . “What’s the devil’s na by the way? If we are going to be stuck with her for a while it might be best to na her so we don’t constantly need to refer to her as ‘that lady’ or ‘the devil’. Might get confusing later on too.”
“Good point…” I looked at the lady who now had a smug look on her face.
“A na, huh? I’ve never really had a na before. Obviously people called things like you people like to call us diaboli or devils, but not a personal na per se.”
“Are you going to decide on one yourself or should I pick one for you?”
“Hmmm.”
“I won’t pick anything rude. I don’t like being an just because…”
“Let think about it for a bit, this feels like an important decision.”
“You can always change it if you don’t like it later on, plenty of people do.”
“I’ll let you know later.”
I sighed. “She’s going to think about the na so more.” I threw the ssage into the entire group.
“Alright…” Hilda nodded. “This has turned into such an absurd situation.”
“For real.” Lise nodded along. “But at least we are figuring things out now, which is nice.”
A blinding flash whitened out the room as Veanya was suddenly standing in our midst, looking alert and focussed. “There was a situation? I ca as fast as I could.”
“Ami is seeing a devil right now, apparently she is stuck inside her after our fight on that other planet.” Sam quickly explained the gist of it.
“Excuse , what the fuck?” Veanya shook her head in disbelief. “You are actually seeing soone right now.”
“I think this Goddess friend of yours is definitely my least favorite. She is by far the least fun.” My head mate spoke whom I promptly also ignored.
I then explained the complete situation to Veanya, not skipping a single detail.
“Okay, I’ll go get Gamma imdiately. She’s going to probably be cranky about it but this takes priority.” Veanya nodded while she kept looking at . “You are sure you have everything under control, right?”
“Yeah.” I confird. “She’s not doing anything apart from being a pain in the ass with her comntary.”
“I’m going to try to be back in about ten minutes.” And in the blink of an eye Veanya disappeared again.
“It’s so embarrassing to have lost against a group of idiots like that.” The lady lanted, having taken a seat on the living room table. “I guess that’s the power of faith. Almost unfair, really.”
“Hey Amicia, while we have a mont, can we talk about sothing?” Sam ca up to and took by my hand.
“Sure thing.” I agreed.
“What’s going to happen to us? To our relationship I an…” Sam gestured around us. “If that devil is going to be around you constantly… Uhm…” She rubbed the back of her neck with her free hand.
“Are you breaking up with ?” I asked.
“Sure sounds like it.” The devil replied.
“No, absolutely not! But how are we going to do this…?” She looked at Hilda, Nikki and my sister. “This is a bit awkward to talk about with everyone around.”
“I know what you are trying to say though, Nikki interjected. “It’s about intimacy, right?”
Sam nodded. “Yeah…”
“How are you two going to deal with intimate monts while a third party is going to be involved whether you like it or not?” Nikki asked the question for her.
“Oh damn, shit, I didn’t even think about that yet.” My sister looked like she had just fallen out of the sky from the cloud she was sleeping on, and personally I hadn’t really thought about that yet either.
“I… I do not know…” I looked at the devil. “I do now see that that’s going to be an issue.”
“Wasn’t an issue for you yesterday even though I was present nonetheless.” She shrugged. “As I said, I am stuck with you and you are stuck with . Nothing we can really do about that for now.” I chose not to forward that ssage.
“This sucks so bad.” Sam grumbled while she scratched her cheek, hard. “I enjoy my cuddle tis with you so much it’s going to be hard not to think about this now. Obviously intimacy isn’t everything, but still…”
“I think it’s sothing we are going to have to try to deal with for now, or would you rather take a bit of a break? I absolutely don’t want that but-”
“Hell no! No pun intended.” Sam interrupted . “We survived together and I won’t surrender our relationship now just because of a minor inconvenience.”
The devil sat by the side, just smiling at us, amused by the situation. “I’m so glad I decided to show myself to you. I could have just enjoyed the ride from the sidelines but this is so much better.”
I sighed and turned towards her, pointing my finger at her. “Mark my words that I will find a way to get rid of you sooner rather than later. I will not stop until I have found a solution to this problem.”
She rolled her eyes. “Yes yes, you don’t need to start repeating yourself. Your conviction is very clear.” She then hopped off from the table and ca to stand beside Sam. Inspecting her from up close. “It was awfully fun to see your reaction to her death, even though that did also directly lead to my demise.”
I felt my blood start boiling but I kept myself at ease, as she was just trying to get to react.
“Tell you what. Whenever you want to be ‘intimate’ with each other, I’ll just disappear for a while.”
“That doesn’t change the fact that you are going to be there anyway.”
“But like you said, you are going to have to deal with it. So take the compromise or leave it. I don’t mind sitting next to your bed watching you fall asleep.”
“Fucking creep.”
“Is that a no?”
“No… I’ll take the bloody compromise.”
“Good. Then what do I get in return?”
I opened my eyes wide at that request.
“What? You don’t expect to give you sothing without getting anything for it, right?”
“And what would you possibly want, you are a fignt of my mind. I can’t give you anything.”
“Is she trying to make a deal?” Sam asked, staring at the, for her, open space where the devil was standing.
I nodded and kept staring down my unwanted tenant, crossing my arms while I was waiting for a reply.
“Hmm, that’s the question. I already know your deepest secrets so it can’t be anything along that line. It also can’t be too extre because you would just shoot that idea down. Oh… I might actually know sothing to ask.”
I sighed. “Go ahead, I don’t want to waste too much ti on you…”
“I know all your secrets, but I don’t know soone else’s.” She smirked. “I would like to know sothing about your dear girlfriend.”
“I’m not involving her with this.”
Sam looked at . “What did she say?”
“She wants to ask you to tell her a secret because she already knows all mine. Don’t want that though.”
“Is this in trade for her disappearing when we cuddle?”
“She will be invisible to but she will still be inside of …”
“Hmmm. You can hear just fine, right? What secret do you want to hear?”
“Sam?”
“Excellent.” The devil rubbed her hands. “Tell , what’s the darkest secret you harbor? You might try to lie, but trying to lie to a devil is sowhat of a risky endeavor. If I know you are not telling the truth, I am going to demand a hell of a lot more.”
I quoted her word for word while Sam just stood next to , stoically with her arms crossed. “Okay… give a couple of monts to put this into words.”
“We can leave if you want.” Lise pointed at the hallway. “Give the room to the three of you.”
“No, it’s fine… I don’t mind you all knowing if I tell it to her anyway…”
