Now reading: Chapter 88: The Tear 1 from Vampire Progenitor System, a Fantasy novel by Chaosgod24.

The afternoon had been calm. Just another quiet day in the city.

Sakura and Vulpina, dressed in their human forms, were blending in like any other pair of sisters, holding shopping bags and sipping iced coffee from paper cups. The street was buzzing — music from a nearby speaker, people chatting at food stands, kids running around with balloons.

Then Sakura leaned in with a grin.

"A new clan’s been founded... and you’re going to be surprised at who did it."

Vulpina raised an eyebrow, still sipping casually. "Let guess. Another blood cult playing at power?"

"Nope," Sakura said, her eyes glittering. "It’s not just vampires. It’s witches. Werewolves. Even humans. All in one clan."

The straw slipped from Vulpina’s mouth as she turned slowly to face her sister.

"That’s not a clan," she muttered. "That’s a bomb waiting to go off."

Sakura smirked. "Wait till you hear who’s leading it."

Vulpina stared, already annoyed. "Who?"

"Lucifer."

The na hit like a slap. Vulpina shut her eyes and sighed long and hard.

"That boy has been nothing but a headache since he turned," she said. "First the vampire council attack... now this?"

She ran her fingers through her hair and looked up at the blue sky. "Go get the Kitsunes ready. If Lucifer’s made this kind of move, the others won’t sit still. We’ll need to protect him."

Sakura gave a sharp nod and turned to leave —

But that’s when the sky cracked.

It started as a whisper, a strange hum that vibrated deep in their bones.

Then—snap.

A tear split across the sky like soone had sliced reality open. Black energy poured out like ink in water. The wind shifted, birds scattered, and ti itself seed to stutter for a mont.

People froze mid-step. Heads turned upward. Phones were raised. Gasps filled the air.

"What the hell is that!?" soone shouted.

"Is that... real?"

"Oh my god! It’s the end of the world!"

Screams broke out. So people started running. Others just stood there, paralyzed by fear.

Sakura gripped Vulpina’s arm. "That’s... that’s not normal."

"No," Vulpina said, her eyes narrowing as she stared up at the rip. "That’s sothing that needs our attention. Now."

Elsewhere...

Greta, in the Bloom mansion, was reading through old grimoires when the room suddenly went cold. She looked out through her window and saw it — the tear bleeding into the sky. Her lips tightened. "No. Not now..."

Boris, standing in his mountain stronghold, paused mid-training. His hands dropped to his sides as he looked at the horizon. "I knew sothing like this was coming... but this..."

Vladimir, lounging in his crimson-lit throne room, raised a glass of wine to his lips and paused. He turned his head slowly toward the balcony. When he saw the tear, his eyes narrowed and the glass cracked in his grip.

"Damn witches and their summoning spells."

Back on the streets, sirens blared in the distance. The sky was slowly being eaten by the strange rip, glowing with unnatural light and swirling shadows.

Vulpina looked around — the fear, the panic, the confusion.

Then she looked at the tear again.

"Get the Kitsunes. Now. Sothing’s coming... and I don’t think we are ready for it."

Hunters HQ

The alarms wouldn’t stop blaring.

Red lights pulsed across the walls. Tactical units scrambled through the underground facility, strapping on gear, locking in weapons, and getting into formation. The central monitor showed a live satellite feed of the tear in the sky — a black void, writhing like sothing alive. Their sensors were going insane. The data made no sense.

Fowler stood in the middle of the chaos, barking orders.

"Double the periter around the city! I want every aerial unit in the sky in ten! Ready the barrier protocol — this thing is global level!"

Soldiers moved fast at his voice. No one hesitated. No one questioned.

Then—

"I want to go this ti."

Fowler turned sharply.

Dera stood there, in combat gear. Her hair was tied back, and her eyes were steady — burning with that sa fire her mother once had. She was always like this when things got serious. But this wasn’t just serious — it was apocalyptic.

"No," Fowler said flatly, grabbing a vest from the table and sliding it on. "You’re staying here. You’ll monitor from HQ with the others."

"Dad, I’m not a kid anymore—"

"You think I don’t know that?" he snapped, turning to face her. "You think I don’t see how far you’ve co? But this—" he jabbed a finger at the screen showing the tear in the sky "—this isn’t a field test. That’s not a demon. It’s not a rogue vampire or a corrupted wolf. It’s sothing else entirely. We don’t even know if it bleeds."

Dera’s fists clenched at her side, but she stayed silent.

"I need you alive," Fowler said, softer now. "That’s final."

Dera didn’t speak. She didn’t storm off either. She just stood there, eyes fixed on the screen, her jaw tight. The ground shook slightly beneath their feet. A low rumble. Sothing was getting closer.

Fowler looked at her one last ti, then turned away.

"Lock the south gates. Begin phase one containnt. No one gets in or out without my word."

Dera watched him disappear into the chaos, the heavy door sliding shut behind him with a tallic hiss. She stared at the screen again — the tear had widened.

Sothing was coming.

And she knew, whether her father allowed it or not... she was going to face it.

Elsewhere

Daniel stood calmly outside his temporary residence, the red light from the tear in the sky reflecting in his eyes. The wind howled unnaturally, the clouds curling around the void like they were being pulled in.

He stared at the sky with that sa calm, unreadable expression — as if the end of the world didn’t faze him one bit.

Beside him, Vina stood tense, arms folded, eyes fixed on him like she was ready to snap his neck at the slightest excuse. She hated everything about him — his arrogance, his voice, his presence — but right now, she said nothing.

Daniel finally turned to her, voice low.

"Go get Lucifer," he said simply. "Bring him to ."

Then he glanced past her at Teemah. "You. Ruka."

Teemah stretched her arms with a lazy smile, her succubus wings snapping out behind her with a heavy whoosh.

"I want them at my feet," Daniel continued, turning back to the sky. "If they’re going to die... I’ll do it myself."

Vina glared at him one last ti, her jaw clenched. Then without a word, she slipped into the shadows, vanishing like smoke.

Teemah gave a small shrug and took to the air, flying off with a sharp gust of wind.

Daniel remained there alone.

Watching.

The sky was splitting wider now. A low rumble crawled through the earth beneath his feet. People in the distance scread. Cars crashed. Alarms wailed.

He exhaled slowly and muttered, almost like he was bored.

"The mortal realm was due for destruction anyway."
