2743 A Hidden Transcendent Expert
Hearing the man's words, Lin Mu was not satisfied.
"Huh? Why?" Lin Mu was confused.
Information like this should be widely spread, after all.
"In fact, they've kept it under wraps for a long ti now. Even the Immortal Court only learned of it through their spies. The Shanxi Empire only claims they have two Transcendent experts to everyone," Daoist Chu stated. "As for the identity of the last expert, we still don't know other than the fact that they're within the empire," he added.
"Hmm… so they could be even stronger?" Lin Mu said.
"Possibly. They did try to estimate it from their source but could only guess that they should be at the First Transcendent Tribulation level," Daoist Chu replied with so doubt.
"How did they confirm this anyway if the information about their identity is hidden?" Lin Mu wondered, wanting to know more.
"It was actually through a trade channel," Daoist Chu replied. "They requested a specific pill that only Transcendent Immortals can use," he added.
"But couldn't that just have been for the two experts?" Lin Mu asked in doubt.
"No… the two experts wouldn't have a use for that pill since it doesn't suit them," Daoist Chu shook his head. "It's a special pill called the Dao Transcendence Gaze Pill. It's sothing that needs to be custom-made according to the Dao that one possesses," he explained.
"The Dao Transcendence Gaze Pill?" Lin Mu vaguely rembered it. 'I think I read about it in the moir of the Lost Immortal. But there was no ntion of its usage,' he thought.
"It's an extrely rare and valuable pill that only three alchemists in the entire Immortal Realm can make as of now," Daoist Chu replied. "The current emperor and the forr emperor both pursue the Saber Dao, but the pill that was commissioned was for the Ripple Dao," he revealed.
"The Ripple Dao… a derivative Dao of the Water and Wave Dao," Lin Mu muttered.
"Indeed. And as far as we know, there are no such Transcendent Immortals that use the Ripple Dao in the Western Immortal Court's territory," Daoist Chu said with a serious expression.
"Hmm… Considering there are just three alchemists, I suppose hiding that information really would have been hard," Lin Mu nodded.
"Indeed. And one of them already belongs to the Immortal Court—the Grand Alchemist of the Immortal Court herself," Daoist Chu replied. "One of the other two, anwhile, belongs to the Unorthodox Path and is the Ancestor of the Blood Asura Deity Sect," he said, making Monk Hushu frown.
"Vile fiends, all of them," Monk Hushu scoffed.
Lin Mu noted his reaction but moved on to the topic at hand.
"And I'm guessing they used neither of them?" Lin Mu inquired. "The third alchemist then."
"Indeed. He's an independent Grand Alchemist and is a Transcendent Immortal too… a very strong one," Daoist Chu said with a hint of reverence. "He's survived four entire Transcendent Tribulations and has been alive for over a hundred thousand years!"
"What!?" Lin Mu was shocked. "Even with the additional lifespans from the Transcendent Tribulations, he shouldn't be able to live that long, right?"
"You're forgetting he's a Grand Alchemist. Who knows how many longevity pills, fruits, and herbs he's consud," Daoist Chu chuckled. "He's called the Long-Lived Pill King for this reason," he revealed.
"Suitable na," Lin Mu nodded.
"Anyways, we found out about the Dao Transcendence Gaze Pill through one of the connections with him. More accurately, due to the materials they were acquiring. To make that pill, one needs the Dao Essence Crystal of a fallen Transcendent Immortal.
"So they traced it from the sale of a Ripple Dao Essence Crystal," Lin Mu caught on.
"Exactly. There was just one such crystal known to be in the entire Western Immortal Court, and it was suddenly sold off one day. With its value, it wasn't hard to figure out who would have bought it. The money quickly pointed to the Long-Lived Pill King.
And after tracking where the delivery was done, it beca quite obvious to the Immortal Court. Of course, any official probing was t with denial," Daoist Chu shook his head.
"I see… Looks like there are quite a lot of hidden dragons in the Shanxi Empire then," Lin Mu said. "We'll have to watch out."
"Haha, with your kind of background?" Daoist Chu laughed. "Reveal your Celestial backing and they'll co serve you tea personally."
But as soon as Daoist Chu said that, he suddenly felt a strange chill.
'Weird,' he thought, unaware of a gaze on him.
"Best not say that," Lin Mu said, sensing the Saintess's presence.
"Amitabha, best not trouble those that do not wish to be talked about," Monk Hushu was a lot more tactful.
"Yeah," Daoist Chu agreed after thinking for a bit. "It would be too troubleso."
"Wait, wait! Hang on!" But ng Bai was not going to be stopped.
He had just heard sothing ridiculous.
"What Celestial backing? What's a Celestial?!" ng Bai was as excited as a child that had just gotten a new toy.
"Uhh… That's for later," Lin Mu said. "It's not exactly my place to talk about them," he added.
"Okay…" ng Bai said in a disappointed tone.
"Best not learn too much about things that are beyond your reach," Monk Hushu said. "It will only hamper your own path," he advised.
"Alright," ng Bai accepted.
"Focus on the now, look down," Lin Mu said, pointing below. "We're almost there."
In the ti it had taken them to converse, they had already reached the edge of the city and could see its beautiful infrastructure.
"Whoa…" Seeing it up close, ng Bai was enthralled once more, and Lin Mu's trick at distraction had worked great.
"Let's land outside the city, Shrubby," Lin Mu said, sensing the arrays that prevented flight here, unlike the Ram Orchard City.
"Okay!" Little Shrubby replied, letting them land near the outskirts.
