2744 Entering The Shanxi Imperial Capital

Just like most other capital cities, the Shanxi Imperial Capital also had a rule against flying within it unless one had permission.

As such, Lin Mu and the others had to enter through the gates of the city. But with Little Shrubby there, it was a bit inconvenient to enter directly. After all, Little Shrubby could serve as an important trump card, so it was better for him to be in his kitten form-or hidden entirely.

The group had landed in a small wooded area so distance from the gates, and Little Shrubby returned to the Sleepscape before they all walked in.

There were so formalities to be done at the gates, but with the identity tokens of Monk Hushu and Daoist Chu, the process was completed quickly.

"Even if they don't truly ally with the Immortal Court, I guess they still accept this much," Lin Mu said, observing how easily they got in.

"Of course, they have to keep up a facade at least," Daoist Chu replied. "Besides, even their own people would find it strange if they started stopping and subjecting people of the Immortal Court to the sa standards as common rogue cultivators."

Daoist Chu spoke as they walked through the gate and arrived at the entry street.

The place was as bustling as it could get, with carriages pulled by beasts of burden moving about alongside thousands of people. Guards stood staunchly at every corner, watching the crowd with sharp gazes.

Lin Mu noted their armor, which was of a different style than he was used to.

The armor consisted of a large chest plate that seed to be covered with fish scales and had fin-like decorations on it. The sa could be said for their helts, which covered their entire faces, leaving only a small slit for their eyes. The helt was shaped like the head of a seahorse, with a protruding snout that made ng Bai chuckle.

"Haha, what kind of helt is that?" he couldn't help but say.

"Those aren't just any helts. Those are made from the skulls of Drake-Scaled Seahorses," Daoist Chu spoke.

"Drake-Scaled Seahorses?" Lin Mu said in surprise.

"They're skulls!?" Suddenly, it didn't seem as funny to ng Bai.

"Yeah, they're pretty common in this part of the ocean, so the Shanxi Empire uses them a lot. They're very tough, having the bloodline of a drake," Daoist Chu inford.

"To think there'd be so many beasts with a trace of draconic bloodline," Lin Mu was a bit impressed.

"Draconic bloodlines!?" ng Bai shouted a bit too loudly, drawing the attention of passersby.

Noticing this, he toned down and asked in a low voice, "They're dragons?"

"Not dragons. They have but a part of a drake's bloodline, which in turn has traces of a dragon's bloodline," Lin Mu explained.

"How does that work?" ng Bai asked with interest.

"I'll tell you as we walk," Lin Mu said, explaining it to ng Bai just as he had learned from Xukong once.

"Wow, I didn't know there were so many categories in dragons and draconic beasts." The boy had grown up hearing legends of dragons, and now learning about them fascinated him-just like any boy would be.

"Mmhmm," Lin Mu nodded before looking at Daoist Chu. "So where do we go first?" he inquired.

"First, we go and register at the Cross-World Teleportation Array right away. The spots are first co, first served," Daoist Chu stated.

"We don't have it reserved?" Lin Mu had thought otherwise. "Nope, our authority doesn't work to that extent here," Daoist Chu shook his head.

"I guess we'll head there then," Lin Mu replied.

"Don't worry, you'll like it," Daoist Chu said with a smile. "It's one of the most beautiful places here." He pointed to the distance. "That tower?" ng Bai asked, seeing where Daoist Chu was pointing. It was a lone tower that seed to peek out from the ocean's edge. It was the tallest building in the entire city, standing over a thousand ters tall. They had spotted it from the sky as well.

"Yeah, that's the Grand Teleportation Tower, the only one of its kind in this world," Daoist Chu replied.

"But isn't there one in Ram Orchard City too?" ng Bai at least knew about that.

"There is, but the range of this one is several tis greater," Daoist Chu explained. "The next world we're going to is over five tis the distance from Rust Sky World to Jui World."

"Whoa..." The boy couldn't even fathom it. "How long will it take us?"

"To get to the tower or to the next world?" Daoist Chu chuckled.

"Both!" ng Bai said.

"Well, three hours to get to the tower, I suppose, and six to eight months to reach the next world," the man patiently answered.

"Damn, that's long! For both!" ng Bai exclaid.

"The city is spread more longitudinally, but it's still pretty wide. If you go from one tip of the city to the other, it'll take about fifteen hours,"

Daoist Chu spoke. "And that's if you're running as a cultivator. For

commoners, it might take days."

"Damn... it'll take a week then," ng Bai said. "So easy to get lost."

"Definitely. So don't stray too far," Daoist Chu emphasized.

With that said, the group walked toward the tower. The route was relatively straightforward, as a single road led directly there. It was clearly built with rapid transportation in mind.

Along the way, they passed through seven different squares, each with distinct kinds of buildings, showcasing the various districts they

were passing through.

ng Bai saw alchemy shops, blacksmiths, trade houses, restaurants, and more. The more the boy saw, the more amazed he beca, and he felt an urge to explore every place. Being in a new city was an exciting experience for him-sothing Lin Mu could resonate with. And a while later, they finally got to see the Grand Teleportation Tower for themselves. It's blue tiled exterior was like a heavenly pillar piercing the skies, making the view breathtaking.
