Now reading: Chapter 704: Mu Ke, Let’s Give It a Try (14) from When Love Turns the Tables: The Mysterious Husband's Chase, a Romance novel by Tang Yanxi.

Xue Lu called Sheng Jiayu just to tell her that she and Chen Xueli would co to see her after work tomorrow, and that today she should celebrate properly with her family.

After hanging up on Xue Lu’s call, a handso face suddenly flashed across Sheng Jiayu’s mind.

Mu Ke had said he would co back for Christmas. So, has he returned?

The restaurant Sheng Jianan booked was nearby, and it didn’t take long by car to get there. Besides the six of them, Sheng Jiayu also brought along a pastry chef she brought back from abroad.

The table was ant for eight people, with seven of them seated, leaving just one chair empty. Sheng Jiayu looked at the empty chair.

Actually, it should have been just right, but that person... well, who knows where he is right now.

With Gu Han being lively and both Zhou Chengze and Su Chen able to lighten the mood, everyone enjoyed the al greatly.

To be precise, tonight is Christmas Eve, but everyone usually celebrates Christmas on Christmas Eve.

Leaving the restaurant, Young Master Sheng went off with his lovely wife for so alone ti, Zhou Chengze and Gu Han also left shortly after, and Su Chen casually leaned back, smiling roguishly: "Miss Sheng, I didn’t drive, would you mind giving a ride?"

Sheng Jiayu didn’t have a good first impression of Su Chen, but after learning why he had implied things during their first eting, she felt relieved. Su Chen was actually humorous and considerate; he was pretty nice.

Sheng Jiayu smiled: "Get in the car, Jenny too. I’ll give you a ride back."

Jenny, the pastry chef Sheng Jiayu brought back from abroad, was not much of a talker but very skilled. Even though she was a girl, she had a crisp, neat short haircut. She was mixed-race, with an Asian appearance, but her nose was higher and eyes deeper-set, giving her a heroic aura.

The apartnt Sheng Jiayu rented for her was close by, so they arrived shortly. After dropping Jenny off, it was just Su Chen and Sheng Jiayu left in the car.

Su Chen was unusually silent today, hardly speaking and engrossed in his phone. Sheng Jiayu didn’t care what he was up to and drove in silence herself.

The sky outside had darkened, with cheerful Christmas songs playing everywhere, and Santa Claus decorations used by rchants to create a festive atmosphere could be seen on every street corner.

Reaching the place Su Chen ntioned, Sheng Jiayu parked the car: "Here we are."

Su Chen slightly raised his eyelids: "Oh? That was fast."

His hand on the door handle, Su Chen didn’t hurry to get out. Instead, he said with a bright smile: "To express my gratitude to Miss Sheng, I’ll let you in on a secret: Mu Ke is back, but it seems their hospital has so event today. Don’t worry, he’ll definitely co looking for you tomorrow. rry Christmas to you two."

With that, Su Chen humd a song, got out of the car, and left.

Sheng Jiayu didn’t start the car right away, her mind still echoing with Su Chen’s words.

Mu Ke... is back?

He had said on the phone that he would be back for Christmas. Tomorrow technically is Christmas, so if he cos to find her tomorrow, it makes sense.

But sothing about it felt odd to Sheng Jiayu, an indescribable feeling.

The hospital’s event tonight... Sheng Jiayu recalled the conversation she overheard in the hospital that day.

Tonight’s event... soone plans to confess to Mu Ke...

Sheng Jiayu drove back to her apartnt. The pine trees in the neighborhood were adorned with colorful lights, and there were two Santa Claus faces pasted on the entrance door.
