Iris:
The next two hours were calm. I was with my father. Jas was there, and Luca was there as well. Still, there was sothing restrained between Jas and Luca.
My kids were cheerful. Whenever they were around their father, they beca dismissive of others and did not follow etiquette or manners. I did not like that. I wanted Kash to nag them sotis, but he never listened to .
As for Kash and my father, they seed to get along oddly well. They did not pass comnts at each other, but there were monts when I noticed them stealing glances.
"I was thinking about finding a job," Jas spoke about himself.
"Shouldn’t your son be working? It seems like he is not very interested in a job. But looking at you, I don’t know who he took after," Kash remarked.
Heads snapped toward him. I should have known he would sooner or later start so kind of animosity with Luca.
I noticed Luca getting ready to respond to Kash in the sa sassy tone, but his father suddenly placed his hand over his son’s hand, signaling him to stay silent.
"When soone helps you, you don’t act cocky with them," his father told him.
I felt bad. They seed misplaced, and I knew that although it might have been true, it was wrong to say it because Jas was the reason we survived that day.
"Mr. Jas, you have worked for my father for a very long ti. You are a trusted man. You will do well. I will find you a job to your liking," I spoke in a respectful tone.
He smiled at and nodded, but Luca continued glaring at Kash for all the right reasons.
"Luca, when are you going to get married? Don’t you think it is ti you start a family and give your father a little more happiness?" Kash remarked, throwing another jab.
I did not know what was wrong with him. He knew I had told him I was not in a relationship with Luca, so I did not understand why he felt the need to keep arguing with him.
"I an, I want to get married, but soone does not share those feelings for , and she is already taken by soone who does not deserve her," Luca finally snapped in a dreamy, dramatic tone. It did not change the fact that he was looking straight at while saying those words.
Kash dropped his knife and fork, then clenched his fists, which rested on either side of the plate.
"Next ti you fall for soone, make sure they are not soone else’s mate," he comnted, his eyes looking as if they could kill. I could tell that Luca would have been dead by now.
"I don’t think that is how it works. I have seen people who have a mate, but then they go after soone else who is not their mate, insulting their own mate," Luca replied, laughing as he said it.
At this point, even I began to feel anxious. This was not going to end well.
Luca was playing with fire, and it showed when Kash started laughing like a rich, spoiled man, throwing his head back. Every person in the dining room went silent. Even my children watched their father, their eyes wide with fear.
Kash then stopped dramatically and shook his head.
"Luca, you’re really innocent. You were right. You need to grow up before you get married. Otherwise, you will make mistakes like these, and you will not only get yourself killed, but your wife as well. Your whole generation will die," Kash threatened, but then he smiled, almost as if he were only advising him.
The threat was visible.
"No need to be hostile," I snapped, then smiled. "How about we all just enjoy the food?"
As I said that, I gently elbowed Kash, reminding him that I wanted the evening to go well.
My father had been through a lot. Of course, Kash did not know, but my father had lost his throne. His mate had betrayed him, captured him, and put him in chains. He had been through too much. All he needed was one evening with his daughter, where things might feel better.
But I could already see a sad look on my father’s face.
"But it was nice having dinner with you, alpha king Kash. Your Royal Highness gave us his ti. It ans a lot," my father said.
The words coming from his mouth were an indication that Kash’s arrogance had hurt him, and he was once again feeling as if he did not belong sitting with Alpha King Kash.
Before Kash could explain, my father started to get up.
"Have a good night," my father said, walking away.
Jas calmly wiped his mouth and then stood as well, placing a hand on Luca’s shoulder. Luca was staring at Kash before he also got up.
I felt defeated as everyone left.
"I think Grandpa got hurt," Colin whispered to Amy.
Kash sat straight, staring into the distance.
"Thank you, Kash. Thank you so much. I should have known why you were coming here," I said, but then I slamd the napkin onto the table, stood, and walked over to grab my children.
"Now, leave with because I don’t want you to stay behind and threaten them," I hissed at Kash, reminding him that I would not allow him to stay back and argue with anyone anymore.
I took my kids to the main mansion, and Kash wandered outside. He did not return to the room, but I could still see from the bedroom window that he was moving around the backyard and garden.
After I put my kids to sleep, I decided to rest on the large, uncomfortable couch. That was when Kash ca inside and gestured toward the bathroom.
"What?" I whispered, hissing at him while sitting on the couch.
"We need to talk," he told as he went into the bathroom.
I did not understand why we needed to go into the bathroom to talk.
