A flash of red flickered past. If Xue Yang hadn’t seen it before, he might have thought it was an illusion.
He was very curious about what sort of surprise Lin Xi had prepared for him. He lay on the bed and waited patiently.
Lin Xi’s showers usually took half an hour. He waited for a while, then picked up his phone and started browsing. But with the faint, intermittent sound of water from the bathroom, his mind refused to quiet down. Unable to focus, he put his phone away and simply waited, letting his thoughts drift.
After an unknown amount of ti, the sound of water in the bathroom ceased. Xue Yang’s eyes flickered slightly. Soon after, the bathroom door opened, releasing a soul-refreshing fragrance. His heart skipped several beats.
How long has it been since we’ve spent ti together like this, just the two of us?
Xue Yang had almost forgotten.
Suddenly, the lights dimd to a soft glow, the sa ambiance they used for watching movies. Since Lin Xi had started her classes, he had almost forgotten their room even had such lighting. It was only then that Xue Yang also realized Lin Xi had drawn all the curtains.
This girl, what on earth is she up to?
A long, soft water-sleeve suddenly descended from above. Xue Yang instinctively caught it. The fabric was silky and elastic, as if a tender, soft hand had gently taken hold of his own, tugging at his very heart.
Following that, a lively red figure appeared. Only now did Xue Yang finally understand what that glimpse of red had been. It was the dance costu Lin Xi had prepared.
At this mont, Lin Xi looked like a fairy descended to the mortal realm. She was a lotus erging from water, a beauty that could outshine the moon and make flowers shy. Her long hair cascaded over her delicate waist. Before Xue Yang could even think, he had already moved to stand before her. Lin Xi shielded her face with a sleeve, a coy gesture reminiscent of a lute player half-hidden by her instrunt.
Xue Yang was montarily stunned. Just as he was about to draw closer, Lin Xi gave him a seductive smile and pushed him away before she gracefully floated onto the bed.
She was like an exquisitely graceful swan dancing on the surface of a lake. Her movents were light and airy, each gesture flowing with smooth rhythm, as if she were telling a beautiful and moving story through dance. Her steps were agile and ever-changing—at tis swift and fluid like scudding clouds, at others slow and gentle like a soft breeze. Every turn, every leap was filled with strength and beauty, leaving invisible arcs in the air. Her eyes were bright and profound, expressing her innermost emotions through the dance. Her warm, enchanting smile pierced straight to his soul.
For no reason at all, a poem surfaced in his mind:
A beauty from the southern land,
With slender waist in graceful dance.
At an autumn feast as evening fell,
Her sweeping sleeves brushed clouds in flight.
As graceful as a verdant orchid shoot,
As elegant as a soaring dragon.
Her dance halts beauties by the stream,
And stops the finest silk-clad maids.
Her slow grace seems without an end,
As intricate poses bring the song to a close.
She spins, a lotus parting the waves,
Like swirling snow caught in the wind.
An earring falls as she glances by,
Her long robes seem to float toward the sky.
My only fear is I cannot hold on,
As she flies away like a startled swan.
The flowing sleeves occasionally brushed against his handso cheek. In that mont, Xue Yang finally understood why emperors of old would forsake their kingdoms for a great beauty.
If I were an emperor now and soone offered my Jiangshan in exchange for Lin Xi, I would absolutely refuse.
As the dance concluded, Lin Xi stood seductively at the head of the bed, her voice full of temptation. "Xue Yang, am I beautiful?"
"Beautiful. Very beautiful. Incredibly beautiful. There is no woman in this world more beautiful than you."
"I’ve been ticulously preparing this dance for a long ti. I always wanted to perform it for you but never found the right opportunity. Now, I finally have."
Xue Yang swallowed hard, a voice inside him roaring uncontrollably.
A slender, jade-like hand appeared before him, and he subconsciously took it.
"Aren’t you uncomfortable?" she whispered.
"We agreed... We’d wait until your family accepts , until..."
"I’ll help you..."
This was destined to be an extraordinary night. Xue Yang’s fad self-control crumbled completely. Fortunately, he still managed to hold on to his final shred of restraint...
「The next day」
They both slept in very late.
"Oh no, we still have to get our hair done and look at houses! Are we going to be late?"
"No, we won’t be. Lie here with a little longer."
Lin Xi held out her slightly reddened hand. "Look. This is all your handiwork."
Xue Yang grasped her soft hand and pressed it to his cheek. "Mmm, my fault, all my fault."
Lin Xi’s bright red dance costu was in tatters. It now hung open, revealing her snowy skin... covered in hickeys...
Just one dance had left Xue Yang in disarray; it was hard to imagine what would have happened if she had put in more effort. Lin Xi felt a mix of curiosity and a little fear.
After lying in bed for a while longer, they knew they had to get up, or they really would run out of ti. Her classes started tomorrow.
But just as she sat up, Lin Xi’s face flushed, and she flopped back down.
"Xue... Xue Yang..."
"What’s wrong?"
"Why do I feel... sticky all over?"
A faint blush crept onto Xue Yang’s face. He touched his nose. "It’s nothing. Just go take a shower and you’ll be fine."
"Really?"
"Of course. When have I ever lied to you?"
Lin Xi thought about it and realized he was right. Xue Yang had never lied to her. He wouldn’t lie to her about this either.
She threw off the covers and got up, heading for the bathroom. She left him with a stunning view of her retreating back, and if she hadn’t moved so quickly, she likely wouldn’t have been able to leave at all.
Xue Yang took a deep breath, rolled out of bed, and went out to the bathroom in the living room.
Half an hour later, they both erged—her eyes as gentle as water, him with a look of pure contentnt.
Today, Lin Xi wore a white fleece hoodie and a pleated skirt. For a change, she had put on black stockings that highlighted her long, straight legs. Her hair was tied in a high ponytail, and with no makeup save for a touch of lipstick, that single splash of red was enough to make her radiate with youthful vigor. Having shed her heavy winter clothes, her wonderful figure was on full display. Just looking at her made Xue Yang feel revitalized.
Why didn’t I realize how wonderful she was when I first t her? Back then, all I could think about was sending her to the police station.
As for Xue Yang, he was wearing a thin black trench coat over a white shirt, paired with jeans and black sneakers. Though his hair was a bit long, it didn’t detract from his handso looks in the slightest. Standing together, they were a perfect match.
Their eyes t and they smiled at each other. "It’s like we’re wearing matching couple’s outfits."
In fact, they hadn’t coordinated their clothes at all.
